The vinyl installers were scheduled to take 2 days but stayed late to get everything done in a single day...that's dedication! I came in on a Sunday and she was able to come out right away to get measurements. I appreciated the entire team contacting me every step of the way. As you can tell from my profile, I don't write many reviews. But I had to stop, collect my thoughts and write about our experience with Jennifer Pyle at Olson Rug in Downers Grove. In a single word: Phenomenal!! We went in to finally replace carpet that had been in our home since it was built, having now seen it day and night from working at home during the pandemic. We were replacing flooring in the living, dining and family rooms, as well as a 2nd floor hallway and stairs, as well as painting those walls - so not a small investment. And even with lots of online research, I still had tons more questions, not wanting to make any mistake that I'd have to live with for a long time. I was at a stage where I had to see and put my hands on some samples before purchasing. Enter Jennifer..... We went to the showroom; she was friendly, personable, professional, knowledgeable, answered all of our questions (and asked some we hadn't thought of), navigated us around brands and options; and was amazing in turning our vision into reality, including moving forward with actually purchasing patterned (yes, patterned) carpet for those spaces! (Anyone who has been conditioned to always go for safe, neutral single colors in wall to wall carpet, knows the apprehension in doing this...) She came out to get measurements, with samples that helped us choose the best colors for the lighting and coordinate with the incoming paint color. I was extremely impressed when it came time to order - it was clear that she was very experienced in knowing how to efficiently account for pattern matching. When you're paying by the square foot, that matters! Ordering was efficient, delivery was on time; and the installers were Exceptional. We had some big, heavy furniture pieces to move in some of these rooms, even with the small stuff taken out. To this day, I still do not know how some of those pieces got moved....but they got it all moved, carpets laid down and finished all of the spaces, in One Day. They were professional, courteous, efficient, respectful and cleaned everything up when the work was done. As far as the results: I could not be more pleased! Each of the choices was absolutely spot on. Attaching a few photos here; they don't completely do it justice, but a small sample of how patterns transformed those spaces. And as for the carpeting on the stairs..... not only was the install amazing, but the comfort.... it is the first time ever that I find myself actually taking off my shoes and socks to just experience walking on it!! It seems goofy, yes; but in these times when we're spending so much time inside our spaces, the ability to step outside the home office, and onto Instant Zen, was a totally unexpected and welcome surprise. Who better than a lady with the last name of Pyle should work for Olson Rug! Jennifer Pyle is THE floor covering goddess. I was a textile novice and Jennifer was the patient teacher. In my first project, we walked the sample showroom, and Jennifer educated me on Density, Cut and Loops, Stain protection, Padding Choices and so much more. I left feeling that I had made the right choice to work with her and the crew from Olson Rug. At my home measurement visit, Jennifer persuaded me that the carpet I chose for two newly painted bedrooms was not proper for the lighting in those spaces. She brought many other samples with and expertly matched the carpet coloring for that lighting. When it came time for scheduling, the installers had to work around a tricky situation with a unique bed, but they did so without hassle. I couldn't have been happier with the results! That's why when I bought a new-to-me home, I called Jennifer again to help. We collaborated on finding a wood floor-like colored basement-appropriate carpet. This choice helped to carry down the dark maple color scheme from upstairs without having to plank out the remainder of the home and second staircase. I even reordered the same carpet from my first install for the new bedrooms! Amazingly, the same awesome installers from the first project (they remembered the bed!) worked with me again. Even when I had a discovered what I thought was an installation issue, the Olson team was on it to investigate and make it right. Less than a month after the install, a different vendor ruined the new hallway carpet. Jennifer found the original plans, had the same carpet reordered and cut, and worked with the other vendor to arrange for the remediation. Needed flooring for our newly purchased condo and went to Olson Rug on 75th Street Downers because they carried Mohawk Laminate which had been recommended to us. We were fortunate to have Olson's Jennifer work with us. She is personable, sweet, and very product knowledgeable. We made our Mohawk laminate and Karastan carpeting selections at a good price. Jennifer made precise measurements herself. The laminate installation by Tony and Bill was EXCELLENT. Carpet installation by two other men was good as well. Jennifer was my go to girl, and she was not only fun to work with, she made sure her crews did the job right! Tom was the sales consultant. He answered all out questions at the store, came out to the house to measure and made a few helpful; suggestions about room transitions. A few weeks later, we got a call from Laura to schedule install. The installers came out when they were supposed, took out the old, hauled it away, cleaned, installed the new, cleaned more. Oh yeah, they moved furniture in and out of the room, including tearing down the bed and reassembling it. The job took about 5 or 6 hours, a lot of that time doing a real good job on the stairs. We'll do more business here when needed. We still have two bedrooms to go. read more

We were shopping for both hardwood flooring and carpet. It had been some time since we ordered either, so we visited Olson Rug. We purchased carpet from Olson almost 20 years ago and it was a good experience then. The carpet was quality and stood up to lots of wear and tear. Our experience this time was even better. Jennifer Pyle was with a customer when we walked in. She greeted us, invited us to look around and said she would be with us shortly. We had some idea about what we wanted but Jennifer helped us narrow the choices, explaining pluses and minuses of the products, and select the perfect flooring. She really knows her stuff about both hardwood and carpet! It was a substantial investment for us and Jennifer explained every detail about what would happen next, when, who would install, timing and preparation. She kept on top of everything, communicating with us frequently. We had a significant amount of tile and carpet to remove prior to installation. When Bill and Tony arrived to remove the old before installing the new, it quickly became apparent that they too, really knew what they were doing. It wasn't their first rodeo! There just isn't any other way to say this, but they worked magic. They arrived early, stayed late, moved very heavy furniture, asked questions, explained processes, cleaned up, and installed the most beautiful floor. We could not be happier. It all looks fantastic. Hardwood flooring and carpeting is such a specific trade. As a builder, Marty knows what it takes for things to be done right and to look good.
