The terrible service started upon arrival when I…read morewalked up to the reception desk to sign in and instead of being welcomed, two receptionists were tersely arguing. I stood there staring at them unimpressed and they just ignored me. I finally walked up to a clipboard on the other side of the counter and someone told me not to sign in there. I signed in the right clipboard and took a seat along with about 25 other people. The room was packed. When I got back to be prepped, I mentioned to the nurse doing my IV that I had small veins that collapse easy. She told me I shouldn't say that because it gave her anxiety. Like, wow. Ok. I'm pretty anxious already heading into surgery and not feeling welcomed as it is. Then my doctor never came to see me to discuss what he would be doing. The nurse said, did he talk to you? And I said no and she said, well he signed off on your paperwork. I had to literally tell them I wanted to see him. After the surgery, again my doctor did not come talk to me about how things went and when I asked the nurse what happened during the procedure she didn't know. I asked for the doctor then and she said he was already in his next surgery. I literally felt like cattle being moved in and out. I assume the surgery was successful so there's that. But otherwise, this was an AWFUL experience. Not warm, friendly, reassuring, or personal at all.

I was seen immediately upon my arrival, I was asked very thorough questions regarding my health history and had my blood drawn in preparation for my surgery. The day of my procedure, it went very smoothly. The nurses that took care of me were very kind and helpful. The anesthesiologist was very helpful and explained everything to me and helped to ease my anxiety about having surgery. Once my procedure was complete, the staff took care of me until I was discharged. I had a great experience and grateful for the wonderful staff here. Billing, well, that's health care in America lol. I'm just glad the procedure went well. I also appreciate that this hospital does not charge for parking, that is a rarity these days!

I was told I'd get an MRI - I went in the morning and didn't get it done until evening and I got my results told vaguely closer to midnight. I told them I was tired of waiting around but they insisted I needed immediate surgery. I was on the fence bc who goes from nothing to full blown surgery right away when you're conscious and otherwise fine right? I'm glad though, and grateful I received surgery. But the few days of admission was nothing short of terrible. One guy who takes blood in the morning was awful- he has no business doing it. I've never had anyone poke around that much and make it that excruciating before. And I'm pretty tolerant of pain. Some nurses were evasive. But please take note- NURSE DYLAN IS A GODSEND. He's very sweet. Very agile and helpful. That's the only part I liked about my stay there.

They really don't come much better than Dr. Kendall…read more I've been a patient for almost 7 years now and there simply aren't enough words to adequately express my gratitude for the care and compassion he's shown me. I've found him very knowledgeable in his specialty and yet able and more than willing to explain a diagnosis or treatment in basic terms without being the slightest bit condescending. I've never felt rushed during an appointment or that I had anything but his complete attention. One of the best things about Dr. Kendall is his bedside manner and sense of humor. While no one ever wants to come to the doctor's office and there's sometimes a bit more pain before relief during treatments, he makes patients feel comfortable and you can tell he cares about their well being. He also understands that pain management means more than just pain relief - taking the time to understand the impact pain is having on his patient's quality of life and what activities the patient most wants to return to. He works to restore as much normalcy and activity to one's life as possible. I like that I'm active participant in deciding my treatment, often presented with options and information about them to make an informed decision as to how I wish to proceed. Should there come a situation where Dr. Kendall feels he's not the best to proceed, I like that I'm not referred off into the abyss. When one of my discs decided it no longer was content living between the vertebrae it was assigned, I landed in the ER. Already having a doctor treating me for back issues, the ER doctor called Dr Kendall to confer about treatment. A day (and MRI) later, I hobbled into Dr. Kendall's office to follow up. He reviewed my MRI and immediately let me know that I'd need surgery - at which point I'm sure my eyes got as big as saucers and I probably had panic written all over my face. But I wasn't just sent on my way with a referral slip. Dr. Kendall reassuringly said "Its OK. I'm going to send you to the person I'd go to if I needed surgery for this. But if I just give you a referral, it will take you a month to get an appointment." Then he reached over, picked up his cell phone and called the orthopedic surgeon himself. An hour later I was sitting in front of the surgeon for a consult and 4 days later had emergency surgery to reduce the ruptured disk. After a bit of recovery, I was back with Dr. Kendall resuming my regular treatment for my other back issues. He made what had the potential to be an extremely terrifying experience seem almost calm and routine. The physician assistants (PAs) and procedure assistants that Dr. Kendall selects to help him provide treatment are all great as well. All of them are very friendly and pleasant to work with, and I like that they stay with him for a long time so you don't have to deal with new people every few visits. Note: This review is for Dr. Kendall himself. I've posted reviews for the National Spine & Pain Centers offices he works out of as well: McLean / Tysons Corner (current location): http://www.yelp.com/biz/national-spine-and-pain-centers-mclean#hrid:jKVU21G7mw-F4K4Z5tjvqQ Shirlington (former location): http://www.yelp.com/biz/capitol-spine-and-pain-centers-arlington#hrid:1ugSpkbcwJr9cgA7FpZf-A

I considered Suboxone because nothing else was working. My mistake. I talked to a Suboxone prescriber and he got the wrong impression because I didn't tell him the whole story. He sent a letter saying more or less that I was an addict. I'm not. If I were I wouldn't have sar in my apt for over a month in daily Pain. I talked to the Suboxone prescriber again and told him the whole story. He then agreed Suboxone is not what I need. I'm not an addict. I need medication because I've tried everything else. Now Dr Kendall refuses to prescribe me anything. It looks like I have a long miserable road ahead. I also had to quit both of my jobs due to no pain relief. Just be very careful what you do and who you talk to. Don't make my mistake.

Antonio quickly greeted us at the door and helped get us checked in as new clients. He was incredibly pleasant and patient with us as we juggled the new surroundings with our daughter. The office is very modern and full of things for children to do while they wait. They even have a small theater for movies (so cute that they have star lighting in the ceiling in there). The area where we took our daughter to have her teeth checked/cleaned was well organized and ready with further entertainment/distraction while they patiently counted and inspected her teeth. Dr. Lynda was warm and inviting as she greeted us and our daughter. She even sang while doing her exam. After examining her teeth, she was able to explain things to us in a manner that we understood. From there, we were directed to Maria who discussed further treatment and was also very patient with us as we tried to entertain our 2 year old while having a conversation with her. So far, we have enjoyed our first experience with this practice and look forward to seeing them again.
