He often ask my wife questions, since my wife was oldest to two brothers. Consequently, I am out of pocket thousands of dollars more than they indicated I would be. The staff told me I could expect to be reimbursed by insurance up to about 75% the upfront cost that I had to lay out to begin treatment. After eight months, I have been reimbursed about 30%. The difference is thousands of dollars. I am fully aware that insurance carriers make their own reimbursement choices, and DC Smiles cannot decide how much ny carrier reimburses me. But they gave me an expectation that I could expect a certain reimbursement level, and the reality has been very different. The practice doesn't have a credible explanation for why their guidance was so far off the mark. A staff member told me in an email that "this has not been my experience with the claims in the past" but it strains credulity to think my timing was somehow unlucky, that I happened to be the first patient with bad luck and a bigger hole in his wallet than he expected. To be clear, I don't have some fly by night insurer that would reimburse less generously than a typical one; I have a generous plan from one of the big, mainstream insurers. For many months I gave the staff the benefit of the doubt as they assured me they would continue to engage my insurer to get reimbursement, with no results. Now, after eight months since my treatment started, and with the staff having ignored my last email request for more detail on what if anything may happen now, I feel the need to tell other prospective patients to be careful. I will update and upgrade this review if the practice ends up standing up to the expectations they set, and resolving the issue. I haven't commented at all on the treatment. Readers can message me in Yelp if they have questions about how the treatment related to the large cost. The treatment I was pursuing did not work for me, but I am aware that much of Dr. Singer's work is on the cutting edge, unconventional (in a good way), and I own the risk I took in pursuing it. So unprofessional they hung up on me while I was waiting to get called in to an appointment at 11:30am. 15 min of waiting and they said 10 min wait. I call and they hang up. Everything in the office is old and outdated in bad need of renovations. My wife got 5 teeth taken out and was not given enough medications. I called the oral surgeon and he recommended me to go to the emergency room which is pretty expensive instead of going to my general practitioner. I went to my general practitioner and had to get more medications from him. I don't know why the oral surgeon told me to go to emergency room? I guess he wants me to spend more money. The first time we went there for consultations. They told me the bill was going to be $7000 with 5 teeth removal and two implants. Out of instinct I told them I could not afford that. They never suggested payment plans or any type of help just said I need to pay $7000. So obviously I did not do it. Then I call back later and they say "oh you don't have to pay the whole thing now. It takes 6 months for bone grafts to heal so you only need to pay $2500. Okay, better. They finally agreed to a payment plan which I don't know why they were so reluctant with pandemic going on. Sorry I lost my job and can't foot out $7000. The thing is they never told me this information from the beginning they just let me walk out the door saying I can not pay for it. Usually you are seen a week after surgery, but this office is so understaffed I could not be seen till the 11th day. I come to the appointment 5 minutes early. They tell me 10 min wait. I wait 15 min, 10 more minutes please. It's been 30 min from my appointment and they still haven't seen me or called me in. Update: they said 10 more minutes and they saw me in 5 minutes. WOW their estimation was somewhat correct. Congratulations, I guess third time is the really the charm at least for this office. Dr. Lebonitte reviewed my x-rays, my medical history and my medications before beginning his exam. He noted the health of my gums and my bone structure. Because I was concerned about loss of enamel on my front teeth, he suggested ways to strengthen them. I concurred with his suggestions. His office manager Kelsey gave me estimates for the work as well as the expected share of the bill for the insurance company and for me. So fast and efficient and so polite. My dentist referred me to Dr Corcoran to have them removed, so I called and made an appointment for consultation. I was able to get in the same week, and the receptionist patiently explained all the location and time options I had. I was nervous about my consultation. I had never had any kind of surgery in my life, and I didn't know how much damage my wisdoms were in for. Dr Corcoran came in, and assuming he's met many nervous patients, he immediately calmed my nerves with a few awesome dentist jokes. He showed me the X-ray, explained everything that would be done, and I left feeling great about it. I got on board, and scheduled the real appointment for a couple weeks later. Fast forward to today; I had all four wisdom teeth removed, 1 of which was impacted, the rest simple extractions. I got the works with the laughing gas and the general anesthesia, and when I woke up an hour later, huzzah...no wisdom teeth. Surprisingly, I am in no pain despite having taken only 2 Advil right after the surgery. The numbness has gone away, and I have some swelling on the impacted side, but no pain. Huh. Dr Corcoran even called me at 9pm to see how I was doing. He noted that I sounded awfully chipper, and expressed that I should continue to take care of my wounds, even with no pain. How incredibly thoughtful of the guy to call me long after the workday is over, to make sure I wasn't dying or allergic to the antibiotics. My husband said that right after surgery I told him, "Gosh I feel great, I wish I felt this way all the time!" I think that means Dr Corcoran is doing something exactly right.

After the confrontation, we went over the billing to my insurance and the lady said this is all the doctor will do and this is what your insurance will pay. Stupid of me to believe a person is able to do their job but she explicitly left out big charges such as removal of a tooth, consultation charges and other miscellaneous charges. My interesting is that it cannot be this colossal of a mistake and she purposely did this to show me lower charge. After completing the surgery they bill me and guess what, they added major items, like removal of the tooth they were supposed to get out along other items. On top of that, i called the billing department and the lady lied to my face saying this was all billed to the insurance during the consultation and she will send me the proof. What she sent me is proving they did not send the full charges to the insurance. There's a bunch of good doctors out there and this one is not worth it just because of their incompetent billing department in the arlington office.
