We had our first visit with them today. Our daughter just turned 2 so as you can imagine, it takes a little entertainment to keep her still for the dentist. Antonio quickly greeted us at the door and helped get us checked in as new clients. He was incredibly pleasant and patient with us as we juggled the new surroundings with our daughter. The office is very modern and full of things for children to do while they wait. They even have a small theater for movies (so cute that they have star lighting in the ceiling in there). The area where we took our daughter to have her teeth checked/cleaned was well organized and ready with further entertainment/distraction while they patiently counted and inspected her teeth. Dr. Lynda was warm and inviting as she greeted us and our daughter. She even sang while doing her exam. After examining her teeth, she was able to explain things to us in a manner that we understood. From there, we were directed to Maria who discussed further treatment and was also very patient with us as we tried to entertain our 2 year old while having a conversation with her. So far, we have enjoyed our first experience with this practice and look forward to seeing them again. read more

Ashburn Children's Dentistry is a very impressive operation. They use the latest technology to educate parents about their child's particular situation, while maintaining "the personal touch." All of the staff is polite, professional, and warm. Dr. Lynda and Dr. Crystal are extremely knowledgeable and great at communicating with parents every step of the way. One word to describe my experience with Ashburn Children's Dentistry is upsetting. I find myself getting upset every time I even think about this place. We wasted precious time, resources and money here. The doctor there told me that my son had a severe lip and tongue tie and that he was being referred immediately for a sleep study and to a cranial osteopathy doctor. Weeks went by. No one called. I followed up with Ashburn Children's Dentistry several times and was repeatedly told that I would be sent the information for my son's referrals to my email. Never received anything. I called and left messages. They stopped returning my calls. So like I said before. It was a complete waste of our time, resources and money. Ashburn Children's Dentistry took our money and did nothing for us and my son is who had to suffer from their negligence. read more

Non-transparent billing practices and lack of full disclosure are causing me to give this dentist establishment a one-star rating. I brought both of my younger children to this practice for several years. I would make decisions based on the quotes I would get from them after they talked to my insurance. I would pay my portion and then get bills for hundreds of dollars more over and over again even though my insurance paid and I paid. The dentists are kind and competent and the office staff is nice, but their questionable billing and financial practices led our family to leave. I would say get a quote up-front before agreeing to dental treatment at this practice, but that did not seem to help our family. Be prepared to get hit with many bills and exorbitant costs no matter how savvy of a consumer you are. read more

Dr. Linda is an incredibly nice woman and this review is not a reflection on her; just the way the business is being run on the backend. I can appreciate the time she took to listen to the frustrations we had. BILLING & PAYMENT ISSUES: This business is run very poorly. They stopped accepting insurance so the process of upfront payment, insurance claim submission, and reimbursement is BEYOND terrible and stressful. It took us MONTHS to get back $700 with constant phone calls. We were told something different every time we called and they consistently blamed the insurance when it was truthfully a lack of action on their part. They didn't know that we already knew the truth because we were also working with the insurance company. The office REFUSED to give us an actual cost breakdown, they said they couldn't share that...WHY? Every other dentist I have been to ALWAYS gives you a cost breakdown plan. read more

The reason for our visit was procedure for my 2 weeks old child that formally calls " tongue tie" or ankyloglossia medically. The office never take insurance for this type of procedure. Although , they will tell you to submit it on your own through your insurance( it's a trick because insurance still won't pay for it). We ended up with roughly 2.700$ bill. Just keep in mind , it's a private business and they after your money. I was very disappointed with rude approach of one of the members of the team Ana, who had to take a pictures before procedure. My child was screaming hysterically while she was trying to pull my child's mouth. I asked to please stop and give my 2 weeks old baby a break, the response was "I have to do it". I'm working as healthcare professional myself and strongly believe that this is not approach that should be taken to patient's care, please be more compassionate toward other people needs. I have an extremely anxious 6 year old who has had difficult dental experiences in the past. However, we had a dental emergency that required an extraction and a filling. We were offered a same day appointment. During the exam and procedure, Dr. Krystal took the time to comfort my daughter and explain the process. Dr. Krystal even sang a song while she preformed the entire procedure. The song relaxed my daughter and me (the anxious mother). My daughter can not stop talking about the experience and says that she only wants go to that dentist. I can not say enough about the care and attention Dr. Duru and Dr. Krystal provide their patients. It is truly remarkable. read more

The waiting room is fun, there's plenty of fun prizes and distractions for the kids. The desk staff is super polite and my child has had a great experience with the hygienists. Dr Lynda is why I can only give 2 stars. She strongly pushes several agendas. She diagnosed my 3 yr as needed oro myo functional therapy. No, no, no, just no. While his teeth were being cleaned I heard several other hygienists discussing the same diagnosis with other children. She talks at length with her own journey and use of a cpap machine. I've heard this story from her 3 times and one of the staff once. He grinds his teeth - on occasion- but does not have a tongue too large for his mouth or have dark under eye circles as she claimed. I have a background in a related field and have been shocked at how she makes these claims. She states that the mouth is the starting place for the health of the whole body and if his tongue is "out of whack" the whole body is at risk. She calls this a holistic approach. My baby needs a maxillary frenectomy. She won't perform this simple procedure unless the baby first goes to an pediatric osteopath physician. This is part of her whole child approach. As others have said, the office is more expensive. The cost after my easy insurance with great coverage is applied is double what I used to pay when I lived Fairfax county...but that is a personal choice. The office is a fun place for the kids, claims to be state of the art - it might be worth it for some families. We gave it 2 visits just to and sure the first wasn't a fluke, but we'll be moving on. read more

We used to use ACD with both our Daughter and Son 7 years ago. We were "sold" that our Daughter needed braces to fix her teeth so that she would avoid needing braces later in life. She is now 15, had an orthodontist visit and needs braces to fix her teeth and her bite. When I brought up our history with ACD - they looked at me and said - they are only Dentist and should not be recommending/applying braces. We left ACD because we felt as though we were constantly being "sold" something. We have been very happy with any dentist we have been with - including ACD. A word of warning - if they recommend that you look at braces for your child - get a second opinion from an Orthodontist. Don't get sold a bill of goods as it will cost you down the road. We will be out of pocket $7500 after it is all said and done - ($3k from ACD that was worthless). read more

We started using this dentist 2 years ago after our son needed a baby root canal. The experience was great (for a root canal). Fast forward 2 years. At this time, he needed a basic filling. I spoke to 4 different people who confirmed what the charge would be. I signed off on the charge, they called before the appointment to explain the charge, when we checked in for the apt, they explained the charge, and I had to sign off again on the charge (to the point of being annoying). When it was time for him to go back to the treatment area for the filling, the nurse asked me what type of filling I wanted... option A or option B. There was no explanation that one option was more expensive than the other. And after the ad nauseum discussion of fees, I assumed that it was all the same price. When we checked out, the bill was $500 more than I expected!!! And this is on a baby tooth that he will loose in a few years. I have called the office 3 times to request a refund on this amount. I keep hearing that they will look into this. If this is not resolved, I will take my 6 children to a different dentist & tell all to beware. read more

We have been going to ACD for at least 10 years. But we have switched finally. It is clear that the exorbitant fees are for making the office look cool and distracts with lights and movies. While we loved Dr. AJ (who left) and Dr.Dang. We had two insurances and they were always getting messed up with billing. To top it off once my daughter got braces they said she had to have hygienic cleanings every 3 months. Insurance does not cover this cleaning- guess how much I am being charged for that? $250! So twice a year I am paying that, on top of the co pay for regular cleanings. But self pay does not pay as much! Hmmm...am I not self paying for those cleanings since they are not being covered by insurance?? Not according to their logic. They also are not skilled at knowing whether the cleaning is your regular or not covered when asked so you know in advance. The front desk staff has never been that helpful. On more than one occasion I had to let Dr.Dang know that they were rude and that we were thinking of leaving because of it. We have finally switched and have never been happier. Not only do they use a wand instead of shots- they do not require hygienic cleanings unless there is a problem. It is case by case not a blanket requirement. You are given a hygienist that is yours through the life of your time at the dentist. That way the same person is always aware of what is going on and if anything has changed because they are familiar with you and your mouth. I wish we had not waited so long to switch. read more

After the teeth cleaning and x-ray, Dr. Dang ,his dentist, examined his teeth and told us about our son's current status and what we need to do for now. She was warm and very friendly. This practice, at our first visit, told me my 5 year old son needed 8 cavities and one crown. One cavity I could see so I agreed that one needed tending to- but the other 8 were ridiculous- on baby teeth. But being a naive and panicked mom I listened and went through with treatment without a second opinion- ALWAYS get a second opinion!!!! My son had severe ADD at the time so we sedated him so the process would not be traumatic- but the whole event was traumatic for everyone. Even more so once I've met three- count that three other moms either on Loudoun County Housewives Facebook group or through chatting with my personal friends, who had the exact same experience here with under 6 year old children. For the thousands of dollars they charged (of course way over the original quote- which seems to be common her compared to other posters) it was exorbitant and overly aggressive. It was my fault for not getting a second opinion, but I don't want any other parents to feel guilty and spend money they don't need to like I did. We now see Dr Skordalakis in Sterling and I could not be happier! He has a very conservative approach to cavities, is beyond personable, and the prices are ALWAYS consistent and reasonable (get worried when there are financial advisors or financial offices at a dental practice). I've had very good dentists there, namely Dr. Duru and Dr. Jaju. They are very nice and genuinely care about their patients. However, I have 2 things I need to complain about. 1. The amount of time to make an appointment under anesthesia. My son needed to have two root canals in November. After I made up my mind to do it in mid-December, they can't make the appointment till the end of January. With vacations coming up, that's understandable but I was hoping for beginning of January because after all, my son had bad cavaties that required root canals. 2. The staff told me my responsibility would be $1500 but it ended up $1000 more on the day of the treatment because I had to pay out-of-network fee for the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist was out-of-network. I wasn't informed until the end of the surgery on a piece of paper. What's worse, he doesn't file insurance claims. The doctor found out my son didn't need root canals so they didn't do it. They did two crowns on him. I wish I had been told that the anesthesiologist was out of network before the treatment so I could have choices. read more

First the Pros: Super Friendly staff, amazing facility, my son always wanted to come early so he could play their PlayStation games. Now the Cons: My 8 Yr old son has been going to them for years... until we switched delta insurance and that was the staw that broke the camel's back. Like a couple others who already wrote a review, I have MetLIfe, and I called to let them know of the change almost a full 2 months before my son needed to come in for a regular cleaning, and they still had not confirmed insurance for him!!!!! Meanwhile my step-daughter was taken there and since they waited so long to confirm her insurance, they found a mistake in her information (not their fault, but could have been remedied if I would have known TWO MONTHS AGO!) Also, I would have been notified at that time that we would be responsible for the regular $ for the cleaning!!! I was told they "worked with MetLife" not that they were considered "OUT OF NETWORK" with Metlife!!! So that was it for me. I would rather go someplace I am aware of how much I am paying for instead of being surprised about the bill, or paying for the games they offer the children in the waiting area. read more

This review is strictly based on the phone call I had to set up the appt. I was referred here by our dentist because my child needs to be sedated during the procedure and our dentist does not offer that. We specifically asked the woman we spoke to if they take our insurance because this will be a far drive. (40-50 mins) She had us go over the insurance a few times and said yes. We both took off and drove the near hour to hear that they 1. Did not take our insurance and was told that she should of told us that. And 2. There's a 108$ consultation fee. The inside looked comfortable and suited for children and I'm sure my son would have like it here but base on all this trouble, even if they did take our insurance in the future, I would never go back. read more

1 star for the Doctor and the nurse who saw us that day. This dentistry is out of network for us and since I was recommended this place by my lactation consultant, I went anyways. I was assured at the time of scheduling the appointment that any charges paid by me would be reimbursed per my policy by submitting a claims to my insurance company. They provided me with a code for the consulting session and an invoice. When I asked them for a revised statement with their Tax ID on it, they put in a different code on the statement. As expected my claim got rejected. So I called my insurance company to understand how this could be handled. They said it should be treated as an Out-of-network office visit. So we got one of the staff members on the call and turns out they won't change the code on the statement. Worst is after I got done with the insurance company, I tried calling them back and they hung up on me, not once but twice. Their staff is unhelpful, unprofessional and just rude. Thank goodness we didn't get my sons procedure done with them. read more

They seemed very nice at the beginning. But they rejected us although i had an appointment confirmation email from them. The reason is that, the lady at the desk said, they are having staff meeting. Unbelievable! You know what it takes to get two kids ready. Ok then she asked me to reschedule it at my convenient time because she told me that she would put us on the told of priority list. So I called in again to schedule. Now a different lady with an unprofessional attitude picks up and tells me she can NOT schedule it soon because they are booked. Anyway that's my story. After our newborn was having trouble gaining weight, we spoke with a lactation consultant who diagnosed her with a tongue and lip tie. The consultant recommend that we go to Dr. Jaju for a laser frenectomy. Frankly, we were extremely hesitant to put a newborn through a surgical procedure, and we ignored the recommendation. Three weeks later, our daughter was still having trouble nursing. We purchased an infant scale and discovered that she was nursing for over an hour, but only getting between 1-1.5oz of breast milk. She was also continually falling asleep during nursing because she was having to work so hard to get that little amount and was exhausting herself. Our lactation consultant again recommended the frenectomy. After doing a fair amount of research and meeting with Dr. Jaju, we decided to go forward with the procedure. It has been less than a week since the revision, and we could not be happier with the result. Our daughter was able to nurse right after the procedure, and was completely back to normal by the next morning. Her nursing has also improved dramatically. Instead of only getting 1-1.5oz after an HOUR of nursing, she's getting between 2.5-3.5oz after only twenty MINUTES of nursing. She is also remaining awake during feedings because she no longer has to work as hard. This is a huge change in the quality of both her life and ours. The procedure was definitely pricey, and it was out-of-network for us, so it came with a hefty price tag. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Jaju and Asburn Children's Dentistry to anyone with an infant with a tongue or lip tie. read more

This pediatric dentist office is more like a boutique than a dentist office. From the time we scheduled our first appointment, the staff was incredibly professional and attentive to our needs. When we arrived in the office, we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. My son was allowed to choose a movie to watch during his teeth cleaning, and was taken back within minutes. I must say, I never thought I'd be writing a glowing review for a dentist, but because I receive such excellent service and care at Dr. Lan's office, I felt it necessary to let people know. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. My hygentist is quick and efficient and I've worked with Dr. Depaggio (sp?) twice and she has expertly fixed 2 stains (that other dentists I had been to, said couldn't be fixed) and a chipped tooth for me. Her assistant is also wonderful. I couldn't be happier. I even got squeezed in the same day I called about my chipped tooth. I would highly recommend this dental practice. Where to begin...Dr. Rishita, Brittany and the assistant who helped us during our daughter's first visit (I unfortunately forgot her name!) have been so helpful, supportive, and professional throughout the process of addressing our firstborn's tongue tie. i had been taking my twins to this practice for over 2 years. It was close to my home, the kids liked the movies and toys, and everything seemed nice with the practice. On my visit in Feb, I was told that only 1 of my twins needed x-rays. I found this odd since I have always taken both twins for their appointments at the same time. Anyway, the twin that they x-rayed apparently had 4-6 cavities. They wanted to do sedation and fix him immediately. I went on my twins message board to see if they had any suggestions as to what was the best course of action. Several said get a second opinion. Then others said that they had personally been to the same practice, or knew someone who had, and that they to were told their kid or children had several cavities and to sedate them. Of the people who got second opinions they were told that their children had 2 to no cavities. Personally, I can say that I got a second opinion and showed the new dentist the previous x-rays. He stated that there might be a cavity at some point, but it is extremely premature to do any kind of dental work until something would possibly develop. He said that my son currently has no cavities, but that maybe in 2 to 3 years the little spots might turn into a cavity. He also said that the spots might just be how his teeth are developing. Mind you my child is 4 years old. It appears that Ashburn Children's Dentisty is very money hungry and will put children in harms way for a better bottom line. I have kept all my paperwork and x-rays and plan to report this practice. Hopefully others won't have this happen to their children. read more

BAD SERVICE!! I had made my kids' appointments right after last clean service about 6 months ago. Now, they were telling me our appointments were moved to an other day, which I didn't get any notice in advance. I never heard about this kind of service in any business to change schedule without getting client's agreement. Plus, If patients pay a fine for not-showing an appointment, what do they need to pay to patients in this situation?? I have my all kids here for many years. Billing staff is very rude and every time you show up for an appointment, they try to do extra work and they don't check if the patient is eligible for that service or not. The last phone discussion with Stephanie in billing, she was very rude and her response was don't you think that the patient should know their benefits, before coming to the office, actually we know our benefits, but when I told the front desk, that my son is not eligible for a panoramic picture, they said they called the insurance and they said we are eligible, actually I called the insurance and they said the dentist office never called. All my friends in Ashburn say that Dr. Lynda is a very good dentist, but the billing is hurting the office. If they tell each patient the charges upfront and then the patient will either accept or decline, it will make it easier for everybody. They lost us as regulars to that office and I am sure they lost a lot other patients. read more

I have 2 children after receiving recommendations during our second annual visit to have 2 to 4 cavities filled in one child & have teeth pulled in the other we decided to get a second opinion. We felt like every visit pushed us through a process that was expensive (services that were optional & not allowed by our 2 insurance companies) or pushed a sales pitch for something we were unsure. One visit included 2 or 3 employees announcing "Mom & Dad declined." The guilt trip almost worked. The second opinion did work! Neither child needed work. No cavities in the one; and other had teeth fall out on their own. Never going back & will forever be skeptical places like this -- unfortunately. read more

Let me be clear first. The poor rating is for their billing and selling practice. Not for the service. We took our 3 year old for her first check up and the service part was just first class. Brittney was really awesome and somehow managed to turn the whole examination into a fun ordeal for my kid. Now for the bad part. They took my insurance information the day before but never told me that they were not in coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield. We asked again on the day of the appointment if they had checked, but they were very vague about the whole thing. (My mistake, I should have checked with BCBS first, but rarely do I find a service that is not in coverage). I had also insisted on getting just an inspection and not cleaning. Told me the inspection would be $116. But they proceeded with the cleaning (it is hard to tell what is what) and my final bill was now $343, all out of pocket. I just paid $66 for smearing vitamins on my kids teeth. I contacted them to complain and was told that the Quality assurance specialist would call me back. I am still waiting for the call and am considering going to the Better Business Bureau. But again, the facility and services are first class. Just be sure to check with your insurance first to see if you are covered for each service they provide. read more

First impression: Ashburn Children's Dentistry (ACD to shorten) is a very good dentistry. Stuff is nice, doctors are good, and along this lines. Second impression: ACD is a very, very, very expensive playground. Because even though they are out of our network and they are willing to bill insurance by themselves, but prices they have are higher than anywhere else. And since insurance only pay certain percentage we had a really huge bill on our hands after fixing our 4 years old 8 cavities under anesthesia. Just to schedule this "event" in April 2014 we had to pay $1145 upfront for deposit and had to pay another $1571 in time of this "event" in June 2014. In fact we we were forced to take loan from CareCredit. The surgery was shorter than expected and anesthesiologist had returned about $300. After the surgery I had a conversation with Ana Valderrama, Business Operator Manager for ACD, and she offered to put this money after all the insurance claims back to CareCredit for us. And of course I give my agreement for this action. Why not, right? Third impression: ACD is the worst because of the business condactory. Six months later when we came back for the routine check up I have discovered that they still have a hold on our $522 ( $300 anesthesiologist + insurance return)!!! Ana Valderrama apologised but acts like it is a not a big deal. Also, she told me she is not on a position to make this kind of operations. Why does she gave me such promises 6 months ago? Besides that she made the transfer right in front of me. So, she can do the transfers. When I confronted her about who's responsible than in such sloppiness in ACD she promised me to find and let me know. It was in January 2015. And I didn't hear from her anything. Bottom line. What infuriates me the most is that I could have use this money for my son's more frequent speech therapy sessions. Instead we were stuck with once a week because this is all we could afford. Any parents with special needs child would understand my frustration and disappointment over this fact. read more

I've been taking my sons to this place for the past 6 years! Obviously I like it, the staff is extremely nice and professional the doctors are knowledgeable, kind, gentle and take the time to explain things to me. I really feel like they put the child first.. However lately I feel like I'm being charged for every little thing, I'm always putting out money when I go to this place. My dental insurance is in-network and we are suppose to get 2 free cleanings every year but Dr. Lynda always finds a reason to tell me we need to do this and that just to prevent future problems and next thing you know what should of been a free visit that is covered by insurance, I'm now paying like $150-$200. It makes me wonder is all the "extras" really necessary????? BTW, Do not go to this place for ortho work. They recommended that my 8 year old son get braces. I took him to another ortho just to get a 2nd opinion and they told me he won't need braces for another few years. The other ortho doc told me had he gotten braces too soon he would of needed 2 sets of braces.... My kids look forward to going to the dentist so I will continue to go here while being mindful of the extras! read more

We started with this dentist about 2 yrs ago. Very kid friendly, they have movies for them to pick-out and watch during the procedure. The staff is friendly and also good to the kids. The issue is billing......since we have been going there we have had several problems with being over charged. They are considered in-network for our supplemental insurance but we receive bills for services which the insurance claim states we are not liable for. After calling and talking with their billing rep, the bill is reduced due to an error on the business' part. Just wonder how many other folks have paid w/o questioning........ Also had a filling done on our little one and it didn't look/feel right, but since it was a baby tooth we don't think much effort was put into it. Plan on changing dentist. read more

My daughter had a good experience. Doctors are friendly and service is nice. But i wont go there again as they do not honor their own initial estimates. After the insurance settled due as expected, i still got another $341 bill which after several tries to fix.. their simple answer was sorry our initial estimate was off by 40%, front desk error, talk about informed decisions. I find this unprofessional and incompetent behavior plus i strongly suggest anyone to compare their rates to others in the area. I suspect they are overly expensive , dont be fooled by the game room in the front. I will rather go to a regular professional dentist than take my kids here. My son has a few cavities, and based on reviews we came here to take care of them. I was given an estimate: 8 cavities, 8 crowns!!! And 4 hours to put a 3 year old to sleep, even though he is very well behaved. The doctor showed me the book with photos of a kid who basically lost all his tooth and was swearing this treatment ($9+K) is necessary. Well, as you can imagine, my blood preasure went up, but after talking to a few friends I had to go somewhere else for a second appinion. Phu phu phu, we already took care of 4 somewhere else. I think their staff is super nice, and obviously - their facility is amazing. However...I don't want to pay for the playland. I felt like I got a bit of bait and switch. When I made the appt I clearly stated our insurance was MetLife. They said they accepted it. What they DIDN'T SAY is that they are out of network. So...for cleaning my 3 year old's teeth and counting my 18 month old's 8 teeth...I paid about $60 for what I booked the appt believing was all inclusive and covered. I will absolutely not be going back. I only left our other dentist for this slightly more convenient location (and the rave reviews) and since we had only been once to our prior dentist - there was no established relationship. I promptly called my kids prior dentist after todays appt and corrected that error and validated that they are in fact IN NETWORK and my co-pays are $0. Sorry...just not interested in paying the extra for the cool movies and treehouse and coffee. Our original dentist has a pretty sweet play area and cool things going on as well. If both had cleanings today it was going to be $100 visit. God forbid they ever get xrays or a cavity. Since I would like to be the person to actually benefit from the insurance we pay for we will never return. I'm giving them a 1 for the bait and switch and telling me we're out of network at the time of appt instead of the time I booked the appt. Otherwise - if they're in-network for you - by all means go. Dr. Lynda is the absolute best dentist in the area. She is kind, patient and loving to her clients. I feel like she is a friend - not just our dentist. My kids love her and always look forward to coming to see her. Her staff is also top notch! Saw Francis and Ms Jess today and they were able to get my kids to do exactly what was needed....amazing!
