We arrived by medical transport and, from the moment we entered the Emergency Department, we were greeted with kindness, professionalism, and compassion. The security staff welcomed us warmly, and the receptionist greeted us with a smile that immediately put us at ease during a very stressful time. I would also like to recognize the registration representative who assisted us during our visit. Even while handling the administrative and insurance aspects of our care, she was patient, kind, professional, and reassuring. Families arriving at an emergency department are often worried and overwhelmed, and her willingness to help made us feel supported from the start. To our surprise, there was virtually no wait time. We were brought into a room almost immediately, and the quality of care we received was outstanding. Nurses Jasmine, RN, and Susana, RN, were compassionate, attentive, and professional throughout the visit. They treated my elderly mother with dignity, respect, and patience, ensuring she was comfortable every step of the way. We were especially grateful for Dr. David Kruse. Dr. Kruse was thorough, knowledgeable, kind and genuinely compassionate. He carefully reviewed my mother's extensive medical history, recent surgeries, rehabilitation stay, and prior hospitalizations. He performed a comprehensive examination and ensured every necessary precaution was taken to rule out infection, pneumonia, and other serious concerns. His calm demeanor, attention to detail, and concern for my mother's well-being gave us tremendous peace of mind. At the end he even brought her a syringe and distilled water so she can get hydrated through the feeding tube. In addition, my phone's battery was dead. He personally took my phone to charge it. Not many doctors nowadays do these acts of kindness. I wish doctors are taught more and more compassion, kindness and empathy. Bed side manners are extremely important not only in the hospital setting but also in the emergency room and doctor's offices. I would also like to thank the two radiology professionals who came directly to my mother's room to perform her X-rays. They treated her with kindness and respect throughout the process. My mother has endured months of hospitalizations, surgery, rehabilitation, and numerous medical appointments, and moving an elderly patient can be difficult and uncomfortable. Their gentle, patient approach was another example of the excellent care we experienced during our visit. Before we left, Derrick kindly assisted my mother into a wheelchair with patience, professionalism, and genuine care. His kindness did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. I would also like to mention that this was not our first visit to the Reston Hospital Emergency Department. Over the years, and especially during my mother's recent health challenges, we have experienced emergency room visits involving long waits, extended delays, and admissions where we remained in the Emergency Department for hours awaiting placement or a shift change. We understand that hospitals are busy and that emergency departments face tremendous demands every day. What made this visit different was the remarkable efficiency, teamwork, professionalism, and compassion shown by Dr. Kruse and the entire team caring for my mother. From arrival to discharge, every person we encountered treated us with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. They saw not just a patient, but an elderly mother and a daughter doing everything possible to care for her at home. Over the past several months, my mother has endured multiple emergency room visits, surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. As her daughter and caregiver, there have been many moments of exhaustion, uncertainty, and worry. During this visit, the staff gave us something we desperately needed: reassurance, confidence, and hope. My mother is a retired teacher who has lived in Fairfax County for more than 40 years. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to educating students, volunteering, and serving this community. Seeing her receive such thoughtful care meant more to our family than words can express. Dr. Kruse and his team have earned a loyal supporter in our family. Thank you to Dr. David Kruse, Jasmine, RN, Susana, RN, Derrick, the radiology staff, the registration representative, the receptionist, the security staff, and the entire Reston Hospital Emergency Department team for providing outstanding care during a difficult time. Your professionalism, kindness, and dedication will not be forgotten. With heartfelt gratitude, PK Fairfax County Resident and Daughter of a Grateful Patient

Then were told that we would get an MRI at 5 pm the same day only to have them cancel it on us with no communication. Then when we did get moved to Oncology they decided narcotics was the preferred treatment which did not treat my wife correctly! I would recommend they take their sign as being one of the best hospitals out of 250 because they did severely poorly on handling my wife's health and gave her the incorrect medication to alleviate pain and did not know what the best practice was. The doctor I saw- Damian Banaszak, has absolutely no business being in medicine. I explained my…read moresituation to him and he was not listening. I told him I was there for leg and foot swelling, that I had an infected tattoo and was on antibiotics, and it was probably related to my having been inactive for a week. He told me my foot was not swollen. My foot was visibly red and by that time *some* of the swelling had subsided because I wasn't standing up anymore. I didn't even know what to say, it was like he was telling me I should ignore what I was looking at and could see and feel to be true. He grabbed my leg roughly and started rubbing his (bare!) hand hard against the tattoo and the scabs, flaking them off (they're supposed to stay on until they fall off on their own otherwise they take pigment with them!!) and he recoiled and said "What IS this??" I said I just told you it had been infected! Then he goes to my foot and tries to rip a bandage off my toe and I had to tell him to stop. I told him I wasn't there for my toe issue and he said he had to look at it if it was infected. I said please don't, I'm squeamish about that injury and it's not infected, plus I'm on antibiotics anyway, like I said before. He asked me who put the bandage on and if I had pulled out my toenail myself. Why In the hell would I have done that? He said well if I can't look at it then I can't do anything to help you. You don't have a blood clot. I said how do you know that for sure? He said well you can get a sonogram if you want. I said ok let's do that. He said "We don't have one here." Then why would you bother telling me that was an option? I grabbed my stuff and hobbled out of there and went to Reston hospital center emergency room where they actually treated me like a human being, did testing and gave me something for the swelling. I can't remember ever having been treated so roughly, manhandled and talked to like that in a medical setting before. I have a lot of medical issues and have had to see a lot of doctors, specialists, etc over the years and this is one of the worst, if not THE worst experience I've ever had. If they have that man on staff I can't imagine the lack of decision making skills whoever hired him has, and I will NEVER go back there. To add insult to injury, when I looked at the notes from the visit, he wrote that my chief complaint was PREGNANCY. I had a hysterectomy in 2019 at Inova. The only person who mentioned anything about pregnancy at that visit was the nurse who asked me what the date of my last period was, and I told her I had a hysterectomy. The notes also said that I had a toe infection, and that there was no swelling. Neither of those things were/are true. I told him my LEG had an infection, not my toe. Gross medical negligence and incompetence. I submitted a request to get my medical records amended because that is absolutely unacceptable. I also reached out to patient relations by phone and email and no one has responded to me. It's been weeks.

I went to the recovery room after the surgery woke up in pain and the staff provided pain meds. Shortly ZI was brought up to my room. The day nurse started the process for my blood infusion. They did not do the same verification process that was done for earlier transfusions. The nurse did not stay in the room to check for any potential reaction. Layer she came in and said it was done snd disconnected it. At shift changeover an hour later, the night nurse noticed the blood bag was not completed. The night nurse confronted the day nurse about it. (in front of me) The night nurse decided to reconnect the blood to my IV. no alcohol swab was noticed bring used on the connections snd I was not sure if the blood bag had been hanging there for an hour if it was still OK. I was not consulted or asked. I clearly see the lack of effective communication between doctors, nurses, technicians, staff and the patients. There is a dry erase board in the room to ensure important info is passed and noted. NOT BEING USED. It is not kept up to date with progress, plans or goals. Even the doctors names are wrong. It appears that the patient is not included in the process and communication between the staff does not happen. No one has the complete picture of the planned care, for now or future. They need help with cross communication and statistical documenting patient progress. The care is good, but the patient has to be involved to make sure there is s complete picture. If you come here (Stone Springs Hospital) for services, you must stay engaged for your own good!!!

She was first taken to another hospital, where the plan was to put her under anesthesia to reset her shoulder. Because she had a life-threatening reaction to anesthesia about 10 years ago, when she flatlined during surgery, we were extremely hesitant. Combined with the circumstances there, we decided to take her to Fairfax Hospital. That decision led us to Dr. Titus Park and his incredible team, and we are so thankful it did. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Park had a clear plan that did not involve anesthesia. He immediately put our entire family at ease with his calm confidence, compassion, and professionalism. My daughter was in excruciating pain--a true 10 out of 10. She asked one of the nurses if she would pray with her, and without hesitation, she kindly did. That simple act of kindness meant more than words can express. When Dr. Park successfully put her shoulder back into place, the relief was immediate. My daughter looked him in the eyes and said, "I could just kiss you!" It was such a heartfelt expression of gratitude because her pain was instantly gone. What also stood out was Dr. Park's wonderful bedside manner. Even in the middle of a stressful situation, he found a way to make us smile. He asked my two daughters, now both in their late 30s, which one was my favorite and which one had been the cutest baby. They both immediately raised their hands and looked at me, and I just turned my head. We all burst into laughter. It was exactly the kind of lighthearted moment our family needed. Dr. Park and his entire team turned an unbearable situation into a bearable one through their exceptional medical care, kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for both their patient and her family. We will never forget the care we received. Thank you, Dr. Park and your amazing team, for giving our daughter relief and giving our family peace of mind. We are forever grateful.

Unfortunately, the ER experience is no better; the priority is clearly "patient turnover" rather than "patient wellness." Every visit follows the same script: Urgent Care dismisses us with ineffective antibiotics for a supposed ear infection, and the ER rushes to discharge us without investigating the underlying cause. The staff is increasingly irritable, and the doctors seem to rely on snap judgments rather than diagnostic testing. It feels like the Hippocratic Oath has been traded for the bottom line. We aren't here for fun; we are here for help that we aren't receiving.

I left without treatment despite having traveled there specifically because I had been told I could be seen. A couple of hours after I got home, I received a call saying they could take me after all. By that point, I had lost confidence in the facility.
