If you want to feel like cattle, get surgery here. The terrible service started upon arrival when I walked up to the reception desk to sign in and instead of being welcomed, two receptionists were tersely arguing. I stood there staring at them unimpressed and they just ignored me. I finally walked up to a clipboard on the other side of the counter and someone told me not to sign in there. I signed in the right clipboard and took a seat along with about 25 other people. The room was packed. When I got back to be prepped, I mentioned to the nurse doing my IV that I had small veins that collapse easy. She told me I shouldn't say that because it gave her anxiety. Like, wow. Ok. I'm pretty anxious already heading into surgery and not feeling welcomed as it is. Then my doctor never came to see me to discuss what he would be doing. The nurse said, did he talk to you? And I said no and she said, well he signed off on your paperwork. I had to literally tell them I wanted to see him. After the surgery, again my doctor did not come talk to me about how things went and when I asked the nurse what happened during the procedure she didn't know. I asked for the doctor then and she said he was already in his next surgery. I literally felt like cattle being moved in and out. I assume the surgery was successful so there's that. But otherwise, this was an AWFUL experience. Not warm, friendly, reassuring, or personal at all. read more

I felt anxiety related to the rush staff was in, the small space that I was in with multiple attendees taking my blood pressure, putting the needle in ietc. I arrived 1.5 hours early but the staff still appeared to be very rushed I lost my keys and they indicated that they were not there even though I know I brought them. One was a very expensve and another expensive garage fob. The admitting nurse indicated they were missing two nurses so this added to my anxiety. read more

had surgery in October 2025 and have nothing but praise. initial phone contact with the nurse before surgery was 5 stars and so was the billing department that obtained insurance authorization prior to surgery. The day of my surgery was also 5 stars and everyone from the initial check in staff and all the nurses set the bar in compassion and care. i absolutely would go back there, I felt safe and in good hands. Note: Allow plenty of time to find parking. It's free and there is covered and open parking but because it's right next to Reston Hospital, (not affiliated with the hospital) parking fills up fast but new spots also open fast as patients visiting doctors in the same building come and go frequently. My surgery was scheduled for tomorrow (12/20). Reston Surgery Center contacted me earlier today (12/19) and canceled claiming their HVAC system went down this morning. What kind of surgery center doesn't have a redundant or backup HVAC system? Three days of pre-surgery prep wasted. Money spent on pre-op meds (not covered by insurance) -- wasted. Took time off from work for the procedure and recovery -- wasted. read more

Outstanding! Came for a medical procedure and was treated very well, everyone was friendly and made sure to take care of all of my needs. Everyone was great and took care of all of my needs. The only concern I had was the nurse who couldn't get the IV in my hand and was rooting around with the needle in my hand. She was successful in the crook of my elbow and it worked much better. Anesthesiologist, the nurses in the OR, the doctor and everyone else I encountered post procedure were outstanding and I highly recommend this surgical center. I will be back for another procedure soon. read more

Dangerous Place!!! I was there this summer for spinal surgery. My surgery had been scheduled two MONTHs ahead, so that I would have a bed after the procedure ..... BUT after my surgery, there was no room or bed available for me!! Imagine that! How is that even possible???!! It took them over 4 hours to find a room for me. Unbelievable. And on top of all - the nurse in the wake up area, right after my SPINE surgery, wasn't allowed to give me anything stronger than Tylenol for the pain - which is INSANE, considering that I had just Spinal Surgery and not just a tooth ache!!!! I also couldn't get any extra pillows to support my neck and arms after I had screws and hardware implanted in my spine, and the pain was excruciating without being able to prep up my arms and neck. The nurse just said "I'm sorry, but Pillows are hard to get by here." What the heck??!!! Never in my life have I experience such poor Hospital Service that put me through so much suffering! What a disorganized circus. Next time I'll go to DC for any procedures. read more

My experience at Reston Surgery Center was mediocre at best. It started with coming into a crowded waiting room and being rushed through the check in process only to wait for 45 minutes to finally be taken back. The first nurse was actually quite nice. Procedure was done fairly quickly since I had an excellent doctor. The second nurse who handled discharging me was terrible. She was clearly in a rush and not paying attention. She practically ripped out the IV and left me with bad bruising and pain my wrist for weeks. Anything positive to say about this place is negated by the fact they use Outpatient Anesthesia Services of Reston. This sham outfit must make a killing out of being this place's exclusive anesthesiologists while then claiming to be out of network for insurance purposes. Despite having a written agreement in place with my insurance (Cigna), they persist in sending bills for over a thousand dollars knowing full well I owe them about 150. It's not like I had a choice of who to use for the procedure- my doctor was covered, the surgery center was covered. Such a racket. I would advise going anywhere else rather than having to deal with their nonsense. read more

The facility is a bit dated but my overall experience was positive. My toddler had to get a tear duct surgery done and the staff was great in trying to keep him calm and keeping me informed what's going on. They gave him a teddy bear as a parting gift too. read more

I don't have a lot of experience with surgery so I can't give a comprehensive comparison of other providers but I can say this was about as positive experience as I can imagine. They ask you to arrive an hour and one half before your procedure...oh yes, there is more paperwork to do. Even yet, they still continue to ask you the same questions. I had a kidney stone procedure here and have to say it went fairly smooth overall. They are quite organized and have a very professional and capable staff of care providers. You may pay a little more...but if you get the best care...isn't it worth it? read more

Ok folks...post surgery x 3 days on Saturday and the mail arrives, what do you think it holds?? Well, its a first for me - a personally signed thank you card with a note for a speedy recovery from the staff that had me in their care from the time I was put in my pre-surgery cubicle to discharge. I really couldn't believe it - the anesthesiologist, nurses, etc. all signed the card! I figured the phone call I got the day after surgery was it....but nooooo. Now that is a personal touch I didn't expect, but happily received! Good for you RSC!!! read more

I went in today for a procedure, my first surgery ever as they knew, and they rushed me through everything. The nurses were nice, although disinterested in your well-being, but the front desk staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Due to covid my partner could not come in with me, but they assured me they would inform her of everything I needed to know for post-op care. I was out for much longer than expected after anesthesia, and apparently the doctor talked to me about post-op, while I was pretty much in a foggy forgetful state. My partner called four times asking for any post-op information for recovery and they assured her a doctor would come out and tell her everything. Of course, no doctor came out with me, nothing was explained to her, and I was on drugs when they "talked to me" so I don't remember any of it. Then when we got home we both called them over and over trying to get any post-op questions answered and no one contacted us. You couldn't pay me to go to this unprofessional, unhygienic facility again. I just hope I don't end up with an infection in addition to having no idea what my post-op care should be. read more

My rynoplasty surgery was in Reston Surgery center. My Dr. who was performing the surgery, Dr Naderi, is one of the best . The staff in surgery center are very friendly; however, the anesthesiologist Dr Monica Porter, terrible in her profession. Please before surgery make sure she is not the one who put you under anesthesia. I lost my voice totally. My nose was great, no bruising, no pain except I had to go through trauma for losing my voice and not being able to eat or drink. Please be careful. When I complained they said I signed for it beforehand. What the heck. Probably I signed my death too. read more

SUPERB Medical care!!! Not just good -- SUPERB!!! The online pre-registration was a breeze and once we arrived for the surgery EVERYONE from the anesthesiologist to the pre and post op recovery nurses were AMAZING, caring and compassionate. As the anesthesia was wearing off my daughter(the patient) commented that it was the BEST hotel she had every stayed at and that we should book a room there again!!! They were so incredibly kind to her and made sure she was comfortable until ready for discharge. They provided detailed care instructions for her to follow. I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Reston Surgery Center. I am going to thank her doctor for performing the surgery there and choosing this facility. This hospital is FIRST IN CLASS. I was admitted for some spine surgeries and I was a wreck. The staff at Reston I assumed have been trained on how to recognize Anxious patients, and trained to ease their worries. My surgeries went well but I was most impressed wit the Nursing staff, medical techs, dietician, admissions team. I literally go on and on. If you have a choice to make in Northern Virginia for any type of surgery please give the dedicated folks at The Reston Hospital center some serious consideration. I just received a call from a man from the surgery center to tell me that my 6yr old sons surgery appointment time was pushed back. I wanted to discuss this and explain how difficult it is to maintain a fasting status in a child that young and then he said "that's not my problem, I can't do anything about it" I asked his name, he refused to give it to me, said "have a nice day and deal with it" and then he hung up on me ... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! I attempted to call back, the phone rang one time and then he sent me to a voice mail. Today I had my very first surgery. As expected, I was extremely nervous this morning, however, that all disappeared quite quickly from the moment I arrived at the center. The front-desk receptionist, preop RN, CRNA, anesthetist, abd the PACU RNs were just Phenomenal!! I seriously couldn't have asked for a better experience. I felt an obligation to other patients to post this review of my recent experience at Reston Surgery Center. The reason why I can only give them a 1 star rating is because a hair was found on the surgical equipment during my surgery. To bring poorly sterilized surgical equipment into the operating suite is an absolute failure by any surgical facility! I was already under anesthesia and prepped when my surgery had to be halted in order for everything to be decontaminated. I shudder to imagine what would have happened had the hair not been seen by my surgical team and if my surgeon had not followed the proper standards to stop until everything was sterilized. Had the hair not been noticed and the surgery had proceeded, I could have experienced an adverse event like serious infection or contracting a virus or other blood borne pathogen. Since there was a failure in the sterilization process to begin with, I also wondered what else could have been on the equipment and missed aside from the hair? Aside from this troubling close call, I found other aspects of this facility lacking. The Registration staff was unpleasant as a couple of the clerks bickered with each other in front of patients as we checked in. I also had an inept nurse botch her attempts to insert my IV. She failed twice and after a quite a bit of unnecessary pain and blood loss, I requested she find another nurse with more experience. Although the second nurse was able to easily insert my IV without further torture, no one noticed that my IV had become infiltrated during or after my surgery until I complained and a couple weeks later my arm was still bruised and sore and had a bubble of fluid under the skin. The nurses in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit were the only positives of my entire experience at Reston Surgery Center. They managed my anxiety at waking up and discovering my surgery took twice as long (6 hours versus the expected 2 hours), and they also addressed my pain and tried to relieve my discomfort. To top off my experience, I never received a single follow-up phone call from Reston Surgery Center. It is customary for surgical centers to follow up a few days later with patients, but this facility completely dropped the ball. Just like they dropped the ball in providing my surgeon and I a safe, sterile surgical environment. This error came at a cost both psychologically and physically to me. I was emotionally distressed by what happened, and I also suffered additional side effects from the prolonged anesthesia for several weeks post-surgery. I would NEVER consider having surgery again at Reston Surgery Center or referring anyone to them. read more

My husband had surgery there last week. The entire staff was unbelievably friendly and full of helpful information. From the woman that checked us in to the nurse that wheeled him out - they were all absolutely wonderful. The whole experience there was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this site for outpatient surgery!! Also, my husband just received a card in the mail today that was his first get well card. It was signed by everyone we worked with at the center. Such a touching and thoughtful idea! He loves it and it meant a lot to him! read more

From my check-in by the second day on the job Jordan to my prep work by nurse Alan; I can't think of a time when I was taken care of in a more friendly and professional way. Medical errors in billing cost people lots of time and money, and Reston Surgery Center cost me no fewer than 12 hours in trying to get my insurance deductibles fixed and I had to redo payments to various vendors. My daughter had minor surgery - ear tubes - put in here - but they marked the patient as my wife which set in motion all of her deductible factors and none of my daughter's. By the time it was figured out, we had to go back to all medical providers between the time the error was made, and the time it was caught - and redo essentially a few months worth of incorrect claims and payments. Our deductibles for 2016 were hosed and it was all due to an stupid and entirely preventable error by Reston Surgery Center. Yes - they fixed it, but the damage was done and it cost me a lot of time both doing math, and on the phone specifically on hold with various providers, insurance companies, and billing departments..... read more

Be aware of hidden charges at this center. I got a phone call before my son's surgery to discuss the expenses since I don't have insurance for surgery. I was advised that the given price is just an estimate, So if the doctor needs to do some extra work during surgery I will be billed later. I got a bill after one month and the amount was more than the surgery itself. They charged me almost $1,000 for nerve blocking. And that was done before they took him to OR. I was there with my son and nobody discuss the charges. They have people to call and collect the money, but they don't think a patient deserves an explanation in advance. All they said was that they are sorry and can help me to set up a payment plan. very disappointed. Reading the reviews made me feel better since I am not the only person being treated this way. They look at their patients as an ATM machine. read more

This place rocks and so does their attentive staff! From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, in a wheelchair, you are treated with care and compassion. The receptionist to the nurses & anesthesiologists and my AWESOME doctor (doctor Parva of Leesburg) were fabulous. Being nervous, they answered all of my questions and concerns. Warm blankets were a plus since most surgical facilities keep cooler temperatures. The entire place was extremely clean; something you definitely want in a surgical center. Any type of surgery is a big deal for an individual. There is a significant lack of human contact in the preparation process. An unknown person leaves an anonymous message on your message machine with instructions that may or may not be appropriate. There is no phone number left if you have any questions. You are directed to the web site for more information, again which may or may not be appropriate. It is very difficult to reach any of the pre-op nurses, and when you do they answer with stock answers and not specific to an individual's situation. Technology has not brought quality in this situation. read more

I had surgery scheduled and we have planned holiday / sick day for the me and my wife and in the last minute (day before surgery) Reston surgery center called and changed the time so early in the morning that my kids drop off at school and baby care have messed up. Seems the Surgery center says doctor did it Doctors scheduler says Surgery center did it. Good luck finding who did it. Their answer is Doctors schedule is busy so they can't change to other times on the same day ?????? That is totally not acceptable and not professional. what happened to checking patient first before rearrange schedule. I just had my second outpatient surgery here, and I had great experiences both times. Everyone from the checkin receptionist, to the pre and post op nurses. We couldn't have been more pleased with the care our young-adult daughter received for her tonsillectomy. The pre-op care was super: lots of introductions, explanations, and Q and A, everything the patient and parents needed to feel assured. The post-op care was also great, lots of attention to her pain, our questions, etc. The thank-you note we received today with the names of her whole team was a nice touch. I have just one suggestion (well two, if you count the fact that I wish they had an email address on their website so I could pass along my comment). Our daughter met a lot of nice people before the surgery. After the surgery, when she was in a lot of pain and a bit frightened, she got a whole different crew, a bunch of strangers. As nice as they were, she reported that it would have been nice to see one of the pre-op nurses. Clearly, RSC works hard to make sure all the teams are well-coordinated for their role in the process, but it would be comforting to have one person from pre-op that shows up immediately post-op to smile and say "things went great, and let me introduce you to someone who will take care of you from here." Our daughter is 20, and this procedure may be in place for the younger patients, but a 20-year-old is more kid than grown-up when it comes to a painful surgery. read more

I had my 2 year old daughter there recently for surgery and was horribly surprised to find out that they do not allow parents to accompany the child through the anesthesia process. I have been through this before with my son in a Fairfax surgery center (for ear tubes) and accompanying the child definitely helps to ease their anxiety. This is my second experience with REston Hospital or its afffiliates that shows they DO NOT know how to work with young children. DO NOT bring a young child there unless it is a life or death emergency-Fairfax Hospital and other facilites are available in the area that are MUCH MORE child friendly. read more

Hospital care and staff were excellent; however, CHECK YOUR BILLING CAREFULLY. We were billed $3,200 over and above the Surgery Center's contractual agreement with Federal BCBS! If we hadn't checked with our service provider we would be out a significant amount of money. read more
