I've been living in Lake Tahoe since 2003. I used to coach at Squaw and I used to coach at Sugar Bowl Academy. I used to wear those black jackets with the red stripe. That said "we care". I've had my boots fitted a few times living in Tahoe over the years. This is by far the best location in my opinion. Great atmosphere great vibes. My boots feel great. Colin Dalmata was my boot technician that day. I've been skiing for awhile now and I can tell when people know what they're talking about. Colin is really good at what he dose. He takes great pride in his work. We talked the whole time. We knew the same people. I believe he grew up racing and I didn't. I was more of a park rat to begin with and became a big mtn/freerider. Everyone working there was crushing it. They had 3 other employees working with the general public. Some people don't like their jobs and it shows. Few of the athletes I coached, used Olympic Bootworks. Loved it. Just go in early or make an appointment is my best advice. They got people coming and going. Comfortable couch to kick it while you wait. I wasn't overcharged. The price was very reasonable. They do a great thing. My boots felt awful when I first tried them on. Now they feel like they were made for me. I apologize for the review. I've been living in Tahoe since 2003. I have seen it changed over the years, moved out here for school and never left. It's a great community filled with great hard working people living in amazing place. While dodging tourists, it's not easy. I highly recommend this spot. It's nice to have a local spot, where you get the full treatment. New boots suck a lot. Colin made the whole process less painful. I might go back to check out the e-bikes. They had a really good price on one that was on sale. All around great experience. My brother lives in the valley. Everyone works really hard to keep that enjoyment level at an all time high. People like Colin and my brother make people want to come back. Thanks Colin. Hope the boss can see this! Have a great winter buddy. My boots feel great! I got the Full Tilts right before K2 took over. Colin knew all about them. That speaks volume for a racer and employee. They are soft but feel great for my type of skiing right now. Just out having fun.

I had a fantastic experience here. My only regret is not coming in years ago. I have never had a booted fitting and it should be mandatory for everyone. I feel like I was a solid advanced intermediate but was having trouble getting to the next level. My previous boots didn't feel like they allowed me to control my skies. I knew I needed something better. They fit okay but they were soft. I tried to buy a new pair of boots on Facebook marketplace and spent $175 on them which I totally regret. I skied one run with them and it was excruciating so I took them into Olympic boot works and Rich took care of me. Rich is awesome. He knew pretty quickly it was too small for me so we looked for a new boot. He looked at each boot on me and finally found the right one. If I was on my own I would have picked the Nordica womens boot that was extremely comfortable and beautiful but he said I was blowing it out and too strong for it. He then put me in the Nordica sportsman men's 120 and he said that was the perfect boot for me. I was a little reluctant to be in a men's boot but he certainly seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I also got the custom orthotics they make. I didn't realize when they were being made how expensive they were ($250). If I knew that I might have waited to try the boot without first. I was shocked when I got the bill for 995 for the boots and orthotics, although now I would pay $250 just for the fitting and the followup service. It's also nice knowing they are there for you for the life of the boot. It's worth the price. The next day I skied and I was in pain.. shit. Both my feet fell asleep and the arch support in the custom orthotics was killing me. I was so sad to only get two runs and then I called it a day and went back to the boot shop. They were so kind. Woolfy sanded down the custom insert and the wooden boot insert to make the arch less prevalent and he punched out a few places. I skied again and it felt too tight and my toes fell asleep again. I then went back to the shop in the the morning and worked with Buck who knew exactly what to do after I told him the new issues. I also worked with Bobby in between these days but I don't remember when. She made me feel way at ease about this boot when she told me she rides the same one but a 130 flex. I also called her while I was on the mountain and she remembered me and told me the last modification she would make to the boot which was to shorten the cuff. I didn't end up shortening it yet because I ran out of time and I think I need to ski in it more first. I ended up working with 4 people from the shop all of who are incredible. I was annoyed at myself for how many issues I had but they were patient and reassuring with me. They knew it was the right boot for me and we just had to make it perfect. I finally skiied and it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I crushed it. My husband couldn't keep up with me and said I've never looked so good he said. He said I looked way more aggressive and all my moves looked sharp and purposeful. I nailed my turns and I felt like I had total control of my skis. It was well worth the three days of going in and making it right. Buck was right I need to ski in them and pack it out. The higher flex was something I didn't realize I needed. It felt great to ski in them. Thank you Rich, Buck, Bobby and Wolfy. (Sorry if I spelled your names wrong) I sent my brother and dad in as well and they also had a great experience. They both found out their boots are too big. My dad is an expert skier and he's skiing too large of boots. He tried two pairs of socks but that didn't help (obviously). He will be in next month when we come back to get new boots. I spent a lot of time in the shop and I was watching everyone else being helped as well. They were attentive and honest with everyone. Some people left without paying anything and others with just a pair of socks. They were punching out boots that weren't bought there. They also were selling new boots. They aren't giving people stuff they don't need. If they tell you something trust them. Thanks again Olympic bootworks!

This is the place if you want the best custom boots in the area. Locally owned and amazing customer service throughout the entire staff. Buck the owner, has fitted my extremely pronating (flat) feet into a custom liner and custom orthotic to keep my passion of skiing going strong. I grew up racing and had damage to my feet from years of not being in the right boot. Trust me, it's well worth the time and $ to do it right the first time. I was so happy with the fitment, I had custom orthotics made for my hiking and XC ski boots. These guys know what their doing and will spend the time to make it right. It's a cozy shop and well worth the wait. I highly Recommend making an appointment during the busy season. Lifelong customer for my entire family for sure.

Ask the Community - Olympic Bootworks

Are they open year-round, or just in season?

What kind of coffee do they serve here? I haven't found anything better (boot fittings also on point).

I stayed here from June 2-7, immediately following the closure of the winter season. Consequently,…read morethere was a significant amount of updating and construction occurring, with many amenities closed. I acknowledge that my experience would likely differ during the winter season. During my stay, the low number of guests meant I did not need to make reservations at restaurants or wait anywhere, which was a positive aspect despite the overall quietness. I am rating this place 3 stars for the following reasons: Pros: -Convenient location for transit to Tahoe City or Truckee, with free and direct routes. -Excellent sales at clothing shops due to clearance of winter inventory. Outstanding customer service; the team was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. -Very affordable pricing; I paid approximately $170 per night for a one-bedroom studio. -Rooms were equipped with a fridge and microwave. -Several food options in the village, although availability varied by day. -The sauna was excellent. Cons: -The gym was subpar, with free weights only up to 40 lbs and both the stationary bike and treadmill out of service. The only notable equipment was the cable machine and elliptical. -The hot tub was closed. -The tram was closed. -Several restaurants were closed for renovation. -Rideshare services to Tahoe City or Truckee were expensive, costing around $30+ each way. Overall, the emptiness during this period was a highlight. However, the timing of my stay coincided with the off-season, during which the facility undertook extensive renovations. This undoubtedly influenced my experience.
