Jason really listens to what i need and what I'm feeling and his recommendations have been spot on whether it's selecting new boots for me or letting me know that that the boot I have on hand isn't right for my junior racer (though he was also willing to work with us to make adjustments to improve the junior boots). I'm back! After the awesome job they did with my downhill boots, I stopped by to see what could be done about some backcountry boots that have never given me anything but trouble. After trying to break them in myself, swapping liners, and even trying aftermarket insoles they were still killing my feet every time I switched from walk to ski. Within about 5 minutes they diagnosed the issue, made sure I understood what was likely the problem, we talked through options, and decided on trying a different set of insoles. They fitted and trimmed them up, and voila! Immediately I could feel the difference. We discussed what benefits custom inserts could bring, but there was no hard upsell, and decided if these worked then it was a great solution. All in all I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, with happy feet and a happy bank account. Took the boots out for a tour today and the difference was night and day. Cian and Jason are boot whisperers. They are so knowledgable, patient and kind...they are the Sherlock Holmes and Watson for boot problems. They solved my son's problem...his boot was hurting so much that he couldn't keep up with his kids and had to stop skiing for the day. Cian and Jason saved the day for him with some minor adjustments that made such a huge difference. I decided to tag along as I was having a terrible time getting into my boots. They showed me how stiff my boots were (and I thought I was just getting too weak and old to ski anymore), added a slick foot pad so my feet slid right into the boots and suggested a boot warmer which really saved the day. Great service from Jordan and Sako. I recently bought some new ski boots from another store in the Bay Area that were causing a lot of pain in the big toe area of both boots. They diagnosed the situation quickly and went through multiple iterations with the boots until the situation was remedied. They were patient throughout the entire process until the problem was resolved. We also discovered that a heated boot bag is worth buying from Sako so your boots are warm and easy to put on before you ski. This is a game changer when trying to put your boots on in the cold before you ski. Jordan even tracked us down after we left one item in the store. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to be a woman with small feet. For DECADES I have skied in boots that are too big because it was impossible to find boots my size. I skied for the last 16 years in a pair of Salomon boys boots that finally gave out. I bought custom-fitted boots for the first time in 1999, they forced me to use shells that were way too big, assuring me that the padding would make my feet fit correctly. That was total BS. Even today, most of the custom-fit shops I've visited still try to force me into boot shells that are too big because they don't stock boots in my size. So, finding BestFit was like a dream. Sako understands small feet: he used shells that were my size, and the newest foam technology to mold them to my feet snugly, so now I finally have boots that fit the way they should, and are actually comfortable. There are some really good bootfitters in Truckee. Sako is definitely one of them. But what I liked most about them was their demeanor. Every person who works there is friendly, approachable and patient. Fantastic! I have a pair of Dalbello boots are about 5 years old. The shells are still good but the bladders...espcially the tongues, were starting to really bother my shin. In the ski world, this is known as "shin bang". Well, it was getting to be quite uncomfortable, so I called Sako and made an appointment. I was lucky to get in that afternoon. Sako was able to affix neoprene pads to the liners and shaped them to fit the tongues. I tried them out today on the hill. It was like having a new pair of boots! Wow! Had a great experience here recently. I came here after going trying to go to another boot shop that didn't even acknowledge me when I came in the door. At Best Fit, I came in and was greeted immediately and asked how they could help. After a short wait, Cian spent over an hour trying different boots for me. He worked hard to find a boot that could have the performance I was looking for for alpine skiing while also still being workable for touring. He showed a lot of care in making sure I would get a boot that fit my performance needs without causing pain or discomfort. I felt like he would have sooner sent me to another store and lost a sale than send me home with a boot that did not work for me. Sako is a boot-fitting maestro. I always thought it was the skis that made me a better or worse skier, but now I realize it's the boots that really count. My feet have never been happier, and I'm skiing as well as I did in my youth (but my husband, also with new Sako-fitted boots, is looking even better). I have owned at least 12 pair of ski boots in my lifetime and I always had problems with the fit. It was not until I met the master boot fitter, Sako. This great man sold me the best fitting ski boots of my life and my skiing has improved tenfold. Before Sako, my feet would hurt all the time and I felt like I was "swimming" in my boots. I have wide feet, and ski boots and skates always meant one thing: pain. I even tried boots from Surefoot, which were insanely expensive and the custom liner fell apart after 15 or so ski days. Sako at Best Fit Boots fixed all of that with expert advice shaped around finally getting me a great fit without breaking the bank. I'm on older guy whose had plenty of boots fitted in my lifetime. I'm an aggressive all mountain skier who did a bit of racing when I was younger. I know a good boot fitter when I work with one. My last set of boots were purchased from Olympic Boot Works at Squaw Valley. When I decided it was time for new boots I was referred to Sako at BestFit by several locals. Sako is by far the best fitter I've ever had. I wondered why I hadn't heard of him before. Well, turns out he was one of the original fitters at Start Haus and played a significant role in Start Haus developing the reputation for boot fitting they currently have. He left and started his own shop. I have always had issues with fitting. It always seems to take several trips to get them right. Sako resolved an issue I always have during boot fitting that requires me to keep coming back when "ski a few days and let the liner pack out"doesn't work. He resolved it during the FIRST fitting. I don't think I'll need to be back for further adjustments. They feel that good. In every boot I've ever purchased I always have pressure on the second buckle area. Every other fitter focused on that pressure area. Sako analyzed my foot and realized it was caused by a bone in my foot being squeezed against the lower shell. It caused the foot to stand higher (I'm flat footed) and created pressure on the top of my foot in the buckle area. Every other fitter I ever worked with focused on the buckle area of the pressure and it took several trips to the slopes and back to the shop to get the pressure point fixed; and it was never perfect. Sako was the first and only fitter to understand my foot and that the pressure was caused by something lower in the boot. By punching the boot low at the base of the foot my foot rested naturally and the pressure on top of my foot at the buckle is gone. HE IS REALLY GOOD. I highly recommend Sako. read more

Allow me to preface with I have some really farmer feet, wide as they are long. Makes for a difficult boot fitting. My girlfriend and I were ready to upgrade our boots and with the cost involved did a tremendous amount of research beforehand. The information I found all directed me to boot fitters in truckee/Tahoe as being the best in the country considering there proximity to world class mountains. The first shop we went to was great and fitted my gf right up but couldn't accommodate my awkward foot and recommended I see Sako at BestFit. I am glad they did. Sako fitted me right away and educated me quite a bit along the way on proper boot fit, usage, storage and maintenance. Seeing I was anxious to get in the mountain Sako was very conscious about getting me there as soon as possible. After a day on the slopes I needed a quick adjustment and Sako was happy to assist. I tried on boots with Sako several months ago but I was not ready to "pull the trigger". I went back with the intension to get the boots this past week-end. I thought I was a size 24.4 but Sako was adamant that I needed the smaller size. He did not have the smaller size due to late in the season.
