Truckee Boardhouse is a hidden gem! I just got back into snowboarding after 15 years. Last Monday my wife and I went in looking for a new pair of snowboarding boots for me and ended up with boots, a new board, helmet and goggles. My wife also decided to get back into snowboarding and got herself a complete set up. We would have not bought that much if it was not for the attention and guidance we received from Shane. He spent time learning about us and figuring out what would be the best fit for both of us. Not only does the Truckee Boardhouse have a great selection but most importantly they know what they are talking about. I was looking at other places before walking in last week and within the first 10 minutes I knew I wasn't going to look anywhere else. You cannot put a value on customer service and expertise. We now will only go here for our snowboarding needs. They are also a full service shop where you can get your boards waxed, edged and repaired. We currently live down the hill from Truckee about 1.5 hours. I feel comfortable knowing if something goes wrong with my equipment on the mountain I am within 20 minutes of the Truckee Boardhouse to get something fixed or replaced. Hands down this is the place to go if you want a great selection, service and knowledgeable staff. They also have a killer deal during summer months to clear last year's products to make space for the new season as well as a great selection of summer goods and accessories. read more

Disappointing would be an understatement of this place. The "bros" working here seemed to be irritated that I came into the shop. Shopping for my my daughters first board and a new setup for myself to ride with her. They couldn't be bothered to get off their phones. Interesting business model. Their loss. I went down the street and spent $700 at the "other shop" and then another $250 on CCS. Support your local skate shop dies when you don't care about your customers and can't look up from a phone. I know they have "locals" attitude, but guess what. I'm actually the local. You're shop employees are just visiting. read more

Me and a few friends needed to get our boards waxed without an overnight turnaround. We brought in 4 boards around 6pm and they were super fast and got it back to us within an hour. They even offered to help us adjust the bindings as well. I could really tell the employees here care abt the sport and community, and I love that they're super friendly and welcoming too. Also have deep knowledge abt the sport. My son outgrew his 125cm snowboard. Shane and his young employee super helpful. My son was between and 132-137. Shane gave us the pros and cons. We bought a Captiva and includes a free legit hot wax (not the carpet wax). Shane also detuned a bit to help my son. Another reason I like Shane is that a customer had a broken Biden strap but he didn't carry it he still repaired it and took his number down. Dom , thank you very much!! Went in looking for a pair of boots before hitting up Northstar I asked for a 10.5 in a specific boot I wanted he said let's get you sized up first so you have the correct boot , I was hesitant at first and just wanted to get a 10.5 boot as fast as possible so I can get to shredding as fast as possible but he took his time to measure both of my feet and gave me a 9.5 boot. After he got me fitted he told me to go grab my board so he can adjust our bindings to our new boots , this is something he did not have to do but took the time to do so (my lady ended up getting fitted too and got a boot that actually fit her as well) Never knew I was a 9.5 boot till I came here & I've been snowboarding for years, went to go shred after buying them and had an amazing time with boots that actually fit. Yes PYL is sold out almost everywhere and thought this place wouldn't have it. To my surprise, they had it in my size and it was their last one. Tyson helped me with the transaction. I live about 230 miles from the shop so I was able to purchase it over the phone. I picked up the board over the weekend. Tyson was very helpful and chill. The gear is great, but come here for the service. The guys here are super knowledgeable, but not judgmental at all. They're going to give you really good advice that you won't get at many shops. The team here helped me set up my backcountry bindings, even though I didn't buy my set up here. They also carry a full range of awesome boards for men and for women, including Arbor and Yes. Yes. Everything all the other reviews said is exactly right. The customer service here cannot be beaten! I spent probably a good hour and a half in Arbor picking the brains of the super cool salespeople from boards to helmets to bindings they broke everything down and explained why this particular feature might be better than that one, etc. I never felt like I was bothering them and I got the feeling they could sit and gab about this stuff all day long. I didn't wind up getting a board there but I did score a helmet and gloves. As it happens I wound up finding an Arbor board from last season down at Bobo's that fit my "I'm going to beat this board to $h!t while learning" budget. Once I hit the point where I know what I'm doing I'll definitely be back to Arbor to get a better set up and really just to say hey and gab with the amazeballs staff. To sum it up - overall selection (boards, bindings, goggles, boots, helmets, gloves, clothing, everything!) fantastic, store layout was great, it was easy to find, and the best customer service I've found in a shop like anywhere in this area. Rachel. Monica. Peter. I have always wanted an arbor board, but had no idea which board was ideal for my ride. When I first went in I had the pleasure of talking to Rachel and Monica. They knew exactly what I was dealing with the board I had (burton feel good from 6 seasons ago), but they instantly knew the ride that I wanted. Rachel explained in explicit detail what the Arbor Cadence had to offer. Monica joined in with her perspective of the capita, which I was considering, but the cadence offers the surfing ride that I want. My family and I felt at home in that store. They made us feel comfortable as if we were hanging out with the homies. Before we left they said to stop by and tell them how the ride was. I ended up purchasing the cadence and the flux gu bindings. So of course the board was life changing!! The bindings were the perfect fit too. So my family and I went into the store to show appreciation. We missed Rachel, but we had another amazing experience with Peter! I don't know where the owner finds these people, but they have the best personalities. You leave the place wanting to hang out with them everyday. Peter just had an ease about himself and we ended up getting a stomp pad with a side of great conversation. Something that would take us a few moments to get ended up taking a half an hour of fun conversation. We probably could have stayed longer, but our baby was getting a little annoyed lol. So not only did I get a new set up, stickers and a new stomp pad we also got an experience that will last a lifetime. I have never connected like that with people at retail stores. Popped in just to browse last week while visiting Truckee with family and was very impressed with this store and it's employees. They were very friendly and quick to answer questions and offer suggestions. The store layout is great. A lot of equipment, but it doesn't feel cramped. Arbor really does have the most beautiful boards out there. I'll just have to come back for my next snowboard and the cruiser I was eyeballing for my son. My SIL got the Dakine Heli Pro backpack and Arbor had even better prices than some of the online shops. Also kind of a weird side note, but this store smells amazing. I've been waiting for snow so that I can give a thorough review, but nature seems to be taunting me, so.... Went to Northstar at the tail end of our last storm and quickly realized my beloved Burton Triumph had seen (at least) one too many icy slopes: hint: great wax+horrible edges+icy black diamond runs=sphincter strain. I've wanted an Arbor board ever since my first glimpse back in the 90's, so I went online and found "The Wasteland". Almost too beautiful to use. When I found an Arbor specific shop just down the road, I felt the Stars had aligned. So many beautiful boards, but my mind was set. The owner helped my solidify my choice and did an awesome job of waxing the board for me. Got back to the condo in the hopes of an early morning session on my dream stick only to find my Burton bindings wouldn't transfer. Back to the shop the next morning and the guys fully hooked me up. It is so incredibly AWESOME when you get to deal with people who are that good at what they do. Can't wait for snow! read more

I got my last arbor board stolen, and this place was nice enough to keep an eye out for me.
