Olympic Village Inn is a great place to stay. It is within walking distance to Palisade's (formally Squaw Valley). It was built in the 60's for the Olympics and has Swiss architecture and decor inside the rooms. They do a good job maintaining the property. They have a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, gym and game room with arcade games, shuffle board, and a ping pong table. There are three floors and each room includes a queen bed, the bathroom and sink in the middle, a small kitchen, pull out couch and a balcony. There is complimentary water, coffee and tea in the lobby. The staff at the front desk and the cleaning staff are very nice. I've stayed here several times and I've had a great experience during my stay. If you like to hike there are some trails behind the inn with great views of the ski resort.

The room was super cute and roomy, didn't realize though that there was construction and weddings going on so some stuff was closed (the pool, hot tub and sauna was working though) and the wedding party was SO LOUD until like 10pm but that's not the venues fault. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because both TV's didn't work- my boyfriend who's an electrician couldn't even make them work, and spent like 20 min on each

We LOVED our stay here. It's perfectly located just half a mile from the village - extremely convenient. Still drove to the village since we didn't want to carry everything and it was cold! The staff at the front desk was super friendly and kind. They provided any recommendations and were just really nice people - made our day after a long flight, traffic, the cold, and very little food. It was so nice to have hot coffee available in the morning by the lobby. Parking can get pretty packed at the end of the day but it wasn't too bad. The keys to the actual unit didn't work very well (they're physical keys, not cards - didn't mind) but we managed. It wasn't that much of an issue. It is a little outdated inside with cabin vibes. We had to walk around with socks or shoes on because the floors didn't feel too clean. The heaters worked really well and the kitchen was VERY WELL STOCKED! Even with the small nuisances, we really enjoyed our stay and would book this again in a heartbeat! Wish we stayed longer to actually enjoy the views of the snow and morning coffee!

If the smart TVs in the room allow casting, the hotel should at least rename the TVs as every room has 2! 9/30/17

Stayed here Sunday - Sunday ( 9/24-10/1/17) for the Spartan Race Championship. We are timeshare owners and let me just say... 100% better than their property in Cancun. Hotel is old, but it feels so cozy. It was pitch black when we arrived and couldn't figure out where to park as there are no lights. We parked near the pool and had to basically crawl over a propane tank by the light of my cell phone to try to find the front desk. In broad daylight, there's an easy to navigate area, but please consider coming while it is light outside. Loved the updated kitchen area and how cozy the rooms are. Yes, they aren't sleek and modern, but it's next to a ski resort and it's older. I ended up cooking a few meals in our room because everything either closes at 4 or isn't opened for the season or was just not good. My husband and I only used the gym and went on the 5 mile hike free excursion and paid for the mosaic craft. In between seasons, not all activities have enough sign ups so things get cancelled. One slightly annoying this is that they have smart tvs yet they have them named all the same thing (each room has 2 tvs, ex: living room tv) so my phone would receive a notification that another phone was trying to cast to me while I was trying to cast to my tv. My husband booked all the way back in February 2017 for our September 2017 reservation, because he knew it would be slim pickings closer to the race, so keep that on mind.

Would you come to a world class ski resort in the summer? Olympic Village Inn is a Wyndham Resort and useable through RCI for our Hilton Grand Vacation timeshare points. Generally one reserves this resort a week at a time, Sunday to Sunday, at a cost of about $300/night in resort points after taxes and fees. OVI was built to house the 750 competing athletics in the 1960 Olympics. It was a dormitory, with four bunk beds per unit, a central corridor, and communal bathrooms/showers down the hall. Not exactly attractive to the ski tourists. After the Olympics, the entire building was gutted to the wall frames, plumbing completely redone, with 87 one bedroom suites constructed. We arrive in a summer thunderstorm, with late August rains coming down cats and dogs. OVI is at the very end of the Olympic Valley, past the Olympic Village, past the football sized parking lot, and past the overflow parking lot. OVI is designed like a Swiss Chalet, with off white painted three story building, brown trim, and colorful flowers in the balcony boxes. Close parking is scarce, and we are lucky to get a luggage carrier. Our parking space is 100 yards from our room. Single slow elevator next to the lobby in the center of the V shaped building, with stairs on the very ends of the building. Our room is on the top third floor. Second and third floor units have entry doors on the outside corridor, next to the bedroom, and balconies on the inside facing the gardens. First floor units have entry doors on the inside external patio facing the gardens, and balconies facing the outside parking lot. If you want convenience over privacy, get a first floor unit, but be prepared to have guests walking by on the public accessible patio, by your patio table and chairs. August is hot, and the top floors are hotter than the first floor. No AC. We put a box fan in the front window, a second box fan in the open bedroom door, turn on the bedroom ceiling fan, walk past the bathroom, kitchen, and open up the door and windows in the living room facing the balcony, for cross ventilation the length of the 37 foot long, 375 square foot unit. Our unit 317 is a renovated unit, with new wall paint, new wallpaper, new dressers, new kitchen cabinets, and new kitchen marble countertops. Kitchen comes with a half sink, two electric stove burners, 30" refrigerator, dishwasher, utensils, plates, pans, coffee maker, toaster, and turntable microwave. No oven in the units, but sign up for communal oven in the clubhouse. Two 40" cable flat screen TVs, so I can watch sports in the bedroom on the reclining chair, and the wife watch CNN in the living room on the fold out king bed sofa. Living room has a coffee table and foldable dining table. 4 people can stay, but they better be cozy together! Strong continuous wifi, good enough to write this review in one sitting. Narrow bathroom, not renovated, with tile design from the 1970s, and my knees touching the wall and the bathtub, while sitting on the toilet -probably designed for Europe! Sink in hallway with large counter space, with 3 doors separating bedroom and living room and bathroom. Balcony has table and two chairs, overlooking fountain in landscaped garden. Balcony sidings with vents in the wood have better visibility and more room than those with solid walls. Housekeeping once a week to change the bed sheets, vacuum the rug, change the towels, and empty the garbage. Next to no noise dampening in the walls, and you can hear loud voices amplified from the walls of the balcony across half the building. Lobby has a communal pc with a printer for printing out tickets, and a discount card for nearby restaurants and rental activities. Kudos to Teresa at the front desk for spending 15 minutes helping a computer programmer like myself get connected using windows 10. Sunday they have afternoon tea, with cookies, and sodas. We eat and then take a dip in the 75' heated rectangular pool, and adjacent hot tub. Pool starts at 3.5' and deepens to 6', so no diving and no toddler wading -keeps out the riff raft who are prone to diarrhea! Monday activity orientation with juice and pastries. Free bike rentals, scheduled yoga classes, scheduled lap swimming, and guided hike to Shirley Canyon and High Camp at the end of the gondola, 4.5 miles, but 2000 feet elevation gain -thanks but no thanks, as my 64 year gimpie knees can't take it! 12 miles from Highway 80 and Safeway in Truckee. 8 miles to Save Mart supermarket at the corner of 89 and 28 in Tahoe City. 11 minute walk to the Squaw Valley ski gondola during the winter season, and 12 minute walk to the restaurants and shops in Olympic Village. Doesn't get any better, even for those whose best skiing days are long gone!

Great location, beautiful views, and full of character! Learn about the history behind the Inn which gives large summer camp vibes. Our room had a back porch/ balcony overlooking a peaceful garden. The fact that we accessed our room from the outdoors, made it feel more COVID safe- no indoor hallways! They also utilized stickers as Hilton does to ensure cleanliness outside of the room and dishwasher. We stayed here and went on several hikes a scenic 30-50 min drive away.

Good hotel, but the best part was snow shoes hiking under the full moon! It was unforgettable experience! Many thanks to Spencer, our guide. Already want to come back!

WARNING: First thing when you check in, check if your fireplace is leaking gas!…read more I would love to give this beautiful hotel a 5 star review but a traumatic experience with my friends last summer is preventing me from doing so. Specifically with the night shift front desk person. Our fireplace was leaking gas and we were told several times that it wasn't a big deal because "it was designed to smell bad at times" and to just "let the room air out". We tried that but the gas smell got worse to the point where we were nauseous, gagging, and dizzy. We got to the hotel at 10pm and were up until 2am asking to be moved to another room, having our calls ignored, having other guests helped before us, being told there were no rooms available, and there was nothing they could do. We were finally moved to a section of the hotel that was being remodeled and smelled very heavily of paint. By the time I was refunded for this completely unacceptable service we had moved rooms 3 times. I know this story sounds so dramatic but I can't make this up. We just had to spread the word so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Please do NOT listen to anyone that tells you a gas leak is no big deal as prolonged exposure can be lethal. Demand a new room or go to a different hotel if you have to. We could have died had we not stood up for ourselves!

Always look forward to going back and enjoy the mix of nature and amenities that are provided.read more

Consequently,…read morethere was a significant amount of updating and construction occurring, with many amenities closed. I acknowledge that my experience would likely differ during the winter season. During my stay, the low number of guests meant I did not need to make reservations at restaurants or wait anywhere, which was a positive aspect despite the overall quietness. I am rating this place 3 stars for the following reasons: Pros: -Convenient location for transit to Tahoe City or Truckee, with free and direct routes. -Excellent sales at clothing shops due to clearance of winter inventory. Outstanding customer service; the team was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. -Very affordable pricing; I paid approximately $170 per night for a one-bedroom studio. -Rooms were equipped with a fridge and microwave. -Several food options in the village, although availability varied by day. -The sauna was excellent. Cons: -The gym was subpar, with free weights only up to 40 lbs and both the stationary bike and treadmill out of service. The only notable equipment was the cable machine and elliptical. -The hot tub was closed. -The tram was closed. -Several restaurants were closed for renovation. -Rideshare services to Tahoe City or Truckee were expensive, costing around $30+ each way. Overall, the emptiness during this period was a highlight. However, the timing of my stay coincided with the off-season, during which the facility undertook extensive renovations. This undoubtedly influenced my experience.

We figured the kitchens would make this easy, which still allowing the family to geta change a scenery in an area with a lot more hiking and outdoors fun than staying at home. Reserved a two-bedroom suite through the hotel - but you can also get similar rooms via other websites directly from private owners. The prices seemed to be similar. The room was great. Decent kitchen. Bunk beds in the kids room. Two decent sized bathrooms. Great little balcony that was shaded more of the afternoon. The rooms come with underground parking that lets you park really close to an elevator and have quick and easy access to your room wherever you are in the Village. We didn't use it, but they also a locked bike storage area in the garage that you can access with your key. We will be bringing the bikes next time for sure. This is great perk. The room was clean and we definitely felt safe there despite the ongoing pandemic. The only two hiccups were the lack of any bath mats in the restrooms (but they brought us some when we called and asked for them) and the phone in the main bedroom had a flashing red light indicating a message, but there was no message, meaning the light would not turn off. I had to hide it in the nightstand drawer to sleep. Strange, but not a big deal. We will absolutely go again. So convenient to be able to walk to everything, order takeout and take it back to the room and enjoy a nice large room.

The whole weekend we were there, it was 84 degrees and it takes forever for the condo to cool back down at night, so we had to use a VERY LOUD fan that was provided in the closet. According to front desk, it is a winter destination so not all have AC. But I asked if the ones with AC is more expensive, she said it's all the same price. So I guess we just got discriminated and placed in one that had no AC. 2. The fan was very dusty and dirty and we had to put it together as it wasn't readily operational. The bedroom was very small so the air was very dry with the fan blowing right at us we never got to sleep more than 4 hours. Every night. Couldn't leave windows open because the neighboring room's patio is very reachable so anyone can just jump over to the next unit. 3.The bed is hard. The pillows are flat! This is the worst bed set I have encountered. The pillows are of no use. 4. The bathroom sink faucet is broken. Everything that could go wrong in this place. 5. The WIFI NEVER WORKED. They gave us a password for the WIFI, tried in all different devices, in different days, called them and said it should work but never did. And we never got to finish important work on the computer All in all, for convenience of walking distance to restaurants and shops, this place is good. But if you came here to relax and be able to rest and sleep after a long day of activities, you won't be able to as it is not comfortable. Unfortunately never staying here again.
