Loved loved loved the Gravity Haus. The room was great minus the pullout sofa - not the most comfortable (in case you have a third person). The staff were lovely. The restaurant on the premises is BEYOND AMAZING!! Ate there for dinner the first night and then breakfast the next morning. Wow! My husband used the office space on the premises and that was also terrific. The sauna wasn't the best, but that's ok. Would stay here again. Nice staff but the place was lacking severely for the $500 or so worth of credit card points we spent. Sauna didn't work properly and was dirty. The shower was warm at best with sudden burst of boiling hot water. Grout in bathroom was dirty. The air conditioner barely functioned. Set at 68 at night never made it below 72. Nice view of trailer park off the porch. How this place got classified as 4 stars is beyond me. Expected way more for the cost. read more

What a great place!.... for the price we paid. We would never pay $310 plus, but we got a deal during their off-season for $176. It's definitely worth the off-season price! Two of us stayed in a double queen room, BUT there are two queen beds, so a family could definitely stay here. We arrived on a Monday evening around 5:30 PM and appreciated the convenience of the amenities. We signed a waiver and used their free bikes to bike to the Plaza with great food options. We chose to eat at Drunke Monkey, just one cul-de-sac away(which will be a different review) We arrived back to our place and put out our cute wooden door hang. Took a shower in our fancy restroom, and headed to the outdoor hot tub. It was magical, and the clear sky view with the beautiful trees was just a cherry on top. We soaked for about an hour and chatted with many others. It seemed people were friendly, BUT the clientele is definitely catered towards causation people. Just from observation, which was okay. We went back to the room, just know you can't eat inside the room. And slept soundly. The next morning, we gpt some breakfast sy the restaurant on site. We wished we could stay longer, but we had to catch a Amtrak(that ended up being 5 hours late, so we could've enjoyed the amenities). We did check out at 11AM per instructions, but they stowed our bags for us as we continued to check out the property. We checked out the gym and the sauna. Then we were ready to head out. Overall, the stay was amazing for the off season price. I think if I skiied more often, I would sign up for their club. read more

Second time staying here at a cheaper price than the first time! It's a comfortable place to stay, had a discounted price through booking.com, wouldn't pay more/the regular rates for what we get though. To start the room keys feel like paper, which was cool, just remember to not leave it in your pocket before going into the hot tub :P We got the Rambler Single King room and it was a bit small, but bed was big and comfy. The water in the shower didn't get as hot as I'd like it, but there was a few times where the water would randomly go blazing hot and then back to the warm temperature. Water, beers, snacks in room to purchase. There are no elevator to rooms, all stairs, at least in building 2. We used their hot tub, which was nice after a day on the slopes. It was small, but the con was that there was a moderate amount of huge ants around it. I guess you can't necessarily control that outside in nature? The bf checked out the gym and didn't want to use it as it was quite small with little equipment. They also have a sauna but didn't get a chance to check it out this time. Tea and coffee available for free in lobby. The lobby is cozy and modern, a good place to hang out and/or do work. Bikes available for rent. Parking included and available close to what building you may be in. There's a restaurant on site, but on the pricier side. 7-10 minutes out from Northstar Ski Resort & 15-20 minutes out from Palisades Ski Resort. Staff is very nice and friendly! As my review is only for a one bed room for two people, I would recommend this place if your stay is less than $200/night. I can't make a comment for the bigger rooms. read more

I would not recommend Gravity Haus due to their poor customer service. I let them know they we couldn't make the stay due to a winter storm. They were not helpful in helping me get a refund even after they released my room. It tells me that they were all too happy to double dip in keeping my money and the money of the customers who took my reserved room. I stayed at Gravity Haus Truckee for 5 nights in February 2026. This was my second stay at this property, and. I was travelling alone on both visits. During my first visit, I injured my knee while skiing, and although I was able to walk it was painful. I am so grateful to Grayson who helped me check out of my room and load my car. His kindness and assistance weren't expected but will never be forgotten and for this reason, I will always stay at Gravity Haus for any future visits to Truckee. During my most recent visit, the hospitality and level of service once again went above and beyond my expectations. The hotel was good. The location and property size is very good along with the service team. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. There are a few things that made the stay less great, like the motion sensing light in the bathroom. The lights would go off numerous times while in the shower, thus you have to step out mid-shower to reactivate the light. It's a huge annoyance, but also a safety issue, especially with young kids. Also, the restaurant being closed during the busiest week in Truckee created a lot of extra stress in finding places to eat for dinner. Wish it was disclosed that the restaurant wouldn't be open ahead of time. This hotel has the potential to be really great. read more

I stayed on the 2nd floor when I arrived my room was nice and cold the AC worked great it was one of the best nights rest I have had in a hotel. Absolutely nope. We've been staying here since before thus place was acquired from the former management company. I had high hopes. I've stayed here 4 times since it's changed hands. Every time we stay in a 1 bedroom suite - one of the higher priced rooms. Each time it's been worse than before. Dirty bedding, dirty towels, dirty sponges (???) bleach speckled dirty dish towels, missing sheets, etc. today we walked into an especially smelly room with a dirty sponge and half-used soap and a shampoo dispenser that had shattered on the ground. The front desk staff was way too chill and unapologetic. I work in hospitality myself and have a massive amount of grace for finicky guests but this stay was the last straw. Seven hundred and fifty dollars per night for a room in complete disarray and nonchalant front of house staff? We won't be back again. read more

We came to Truckee for the weekend to go to a wedding. There was not much availability so we booked Gravity Haus. We got a nice roomy suit. No closets and no safe. The beds are very comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. The rate was ridiculously expensive. The service is good and the rooms are very clean. The rooms are a decent size but you could get a nicer room in Tokyo for less money. That being said hotel rooms prices were very high everywhere in Truckee that weekend. The location is about 5 minutes from downtown on a busy road. No real views to be had. There is a wonderful natural smell of wood all around. The buildings are constructed with a combination or exposed steel and wood. The main lobby building and the restaurant have some unique architectural details... Massive exposed beams and supports throughout. They sell Gravity Haus as a kind of base station for guys into rock climbing and mountain biking but that's marking fluff. The gym is pretty basic but they say they are getting more equipment soon. We had breakfast at their restaurant "Stellar". Nothing to write home about. I would definitely go into town instead. FYI, we love the interior decor. They have accommodating adult beverages in the check-in area. And coffee in the morning. I can't say enough about the service though. We stay in Marriott's about 75 days a year and booked at your place instead of their property close y. Honestly, we felt immensely misled by the images. The design of the rooms felt fairly disjointed and while we can appreciate touches like the Thuma bedding, the linen felt cheap, the walls are painted in high gloss, a bag of five gummy worms costs $1.50, and it just felt more like a show room than a quality homely experience. The doors don't even close behind you when leaving which seems like a huge security risk. It's a two dimensional experience. Pretty disappointed as we hoped to become regulars. If any part of you views the photos and wonders of it actually feels as nice as the photos - it doesn't. For example, the wood across the property feels like an addition more than the way it was built. Stained 4x4's that are framed in the hallways for example. Also, the most expensive King rooms are all on corners of the building, so your door (which does not close automatically) will be maybe a foot or two to the building entrance, which is also insecure. No complains at all~$150 but for $215, there's poor value here. read more

They do not have air conditioning in the room which is a first for any hotel I've ever stayed in. No fans either. When I inquired about it with the front desk they said just leave the windows open. Leaving the windows open while you're on the first floor next to a road while you're with children is just ... fill in the blank. For this reason alone I'll never return. read more

Took a small little trip to Trukee for the annual hot air balloon race. We booked our stay here at the Cedar House and we loved it!!! The cedar house is nestled in a nice little town that has been heavily gentrified. There are coffee shops and yoga studios and several restaurants that i can't wait to try. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The Cedar House also prides themselves on being eco-friendly and they are mindful of that when it comes to waste, plastics and disposable food materials like tea bags and coffee. All in all this is a beautiful property. Much thought went into the overall design. The rooms are modern & spacious. Environmental considerations are obvious. No plastic or paper cups, a recycling bin, soaps & lotions are refilled by the cleaning team. Plenty of places to hang winter gear & a space heater for those chilly days The fridge has cold beverages for your enjoyment along with snacks--check the price list before you indulge. One star removed because the bed looks lovely however, it is one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on. It provides no support. I tossed & turned all night trying to get comfy. Therefore, as much as I enjoyed everything else, doubtful I'd return since a good night's rest is more important than all the other positives. read more

The Cedar House Sport Hotel is amazing. The staff are wonderful. We were treated to two complementary glasses of wine because we are celebrating our anniversary. We rented bikes for free and rode down to the Truckee river. We ate dinner at the restaurant on site called Stella. Our gourmet dinners were delicious. We used the Jacuzzi Spa. "Modern, European Styling" We had the good fortune to attend an event on the hotel grounds, and the manager was gracious enough to show us around the hotel. The first thing you'll notice it's that it's in a European design. The style resembled Denmark, but the manager explained it was a European theme. The lobby area is really cute. I just wanted to sit there, have a beer and relax for a few hours. They insisted, however, I continue on my tour. All of the furniture is quite modern. The beds and linens are in a German style. Honestly, I've never seen anything like them before! In some of the rooms, the back of the beds adjust up and down, almost like a chaise lounge. Everything was bright, cheerful, and modern. I thought the best feature of the hotel was the beautiful fire pit in the courtyard area. You can sit there on a cool evening and enjoy the evening. Naturally there is a bar adjacent to the pit. They're also free bikes that you can borrow. So all-in-all, a really elegant place to stay. Even if you're not a skier you will enjoy the modern, classy surroundings. Note that the nearby restaurant has been completely revamped, with a new, more modern format, and a completely new menu. We tried it recently and it is one special place! read more

AVOID THIS PLACE like you would avoid Covid-19. If I could give them a negative star rating I would. I lodged here 2 previous times and completely enjoyed my stays. I planned to stay there this current weekend, but I could not make it due to severe weather conditions. First I asked if I could be refunded, they said no. I asked if they could do what many other businesses do - offer a credit for a future transaction or stay. They had no mercy what-so-ever and refused even a credit for a future stay. All I got from them was "we apologize, we are so sorry but that is our policy". Well you know what, take your apology and shove it!!! Apologies do nothing for reimbursement or a credit for a future stay. Furthermore, if all you can offer is just a pathetic, meaningless and cold apology, that is just horrible customer service, regardless if it is someone's first time wanting to lodge here, or in my case, a repeat lodger here - now I will be a NEVER AGAIN lodger here. I plan on continuing many future visits to Truckee, if Gravity Haus is the only lodging available, I will instead pack my sleeping bag and other necessities, put the truck bed cover on the bed of my crew cab and sleep in the covered bed of my truck. read more

Impressive is what comes to mind when you walk into Cedar House Sport Hotel. I visited for a couple of nights for a conference being held here and could not believe what a nice find this place is. Not only are the rooms very nice with a minimalist theme, but you can really see how hard they worked at making it a very sustainable focused business. They provide reusable water bottles that you can refill in the lobby area, have a couple of bikes you can borrow to get around town, and have electric charging stations at the front. The bathrooms have dispensers instead of disposable bottles. One of the really nice features was the bedding. They provided two individual sized comforters on our king sized bed. This was the first time I didn't have to fight for the blanket with my husband. Genius! Breakfast was provided in their restaurant space, Stella, and had a pretty nice spread. Our meeting room was right across from Stella which had a lot of natural lighting. The property also prepared our lunch and it was really good as well. The snacks they provided at night and the bar was a nice touch. I wish the had dinner service regularly instead of more of a pop-up. I hope to stay up here again next time I'm in the area. So glad to support a business that is focused on sustainability in a way that comes across as natural and stylish. Now I need to find those comforters... read more

Really nice hotel on the fringe of downtown Truckee. Modern, well-appointed and conveniently located close to skiing and restaurants and other businesses. My only nit pick is that the modern furniture is more stylish than functional. I prefer more cushy and comfortable furniture after a day of recreating rather than the psychiatrist office approach in the Cedar House. The king sized bed was super comfortable! tl;dr Four stars. The included daily breakfast was the biggest draw for me. The rooms with a balcony are so cute. I was lucky to get a view of the courtyard and not the parking lot. I would still totally stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to ski/snowboard at the nearby Northstar resort or other nearby resorts. I'm hypercritical though so here are my notes: ***Bathroom door was ridiculously heavy. The huge, sliding door was very difficult to move in order. It got real tiring if you like to use the bathroom with the door closed. I never knew how many times I go in and out of the restroom to wash my hands, shower, apply makeup... but I dreaded having to go in and out. But the desire for privacy prevailed. I recommend the owners try staying in the room for a day or two and testing out the doors. Breakfast is included which is great. The orange juice was not bad, better than other hotels' oj. After a few days, the hot breakfast items were a bit too repetitive and became meh. They had everything from muffins, bagels, oatmeal, and cereal to hot items like sausage and eggs in chafing dishes. Happy Hour in the lobby varied. One time it was good. Another time it was a large plate of crackers, cheese, and grapes. Jacuzzi was working and was nice, but when I tried to get out - the gate was frozen shut or something. Had to call the front desk guy and as he was walking out to help us, another guest was walking by and we had him use our room card to slide through the lock. Getting into the Jacuzzi area with the hotel card/key was no problem. It was exiting that was not possible without help. Comforter cover was not as soft as I expected. There were two small comforters? I can't remember. But there was some explanation about it being a European style or something. The sheets that cover/protect the comforters would come off during the night, so touching the comforter inserts were unavoidable. The bath towels had a semi-nice design but they were not fluffy or soft. I don't know why. Is it becomes of their "eco-practices" or detergent? The robes were also not soft and fluffy either. They were stiff and "durable" feeling. The toilet paper were not as soft either. It was basic toilet paper you'd find at a school or motel. Some things were "luxury" (architecture of the hotel) and some things were very basic. There is no gym, but I got all the workout I needed on the slopes. I skied at Northstar. I'm guessing the reserve ahead only-tasting menu restaurant Stella & conference| small event was recently renovated? It's pretty cute looking. Never ate there though. The hotel is located somewhat close to a Safeway (supermarket - 10 minute drive) and the small downtown Truckee area with an adequate amount of restaurants. I liked the lobster roll at Morgan's. Overall, I liked the hotel. Make sure you call a couple times in advance to confirm your reservation. I'm not sure what it's like in the summer months, but my stay here in the winter was nice. read more

The hotel also provides bicycles that you can take up and down the trails! It's a really good time for a really good price. My husband and I and our little Goldendoodle stayed just one night at the Cedar House Sport Hotel, but we will definitely be back! The hotel doesnt look like much from the outside, but the inside is So nice. Rooms are very clean and bedding was super comfortable. They even provided a little doggy bed for our pup. The customer service was great - we dealt with 3 different folks at the reception desk and each one was more friendly than the last. They even went above and beyond to provide an office-like conference room for my husband who had a business Zoom meeting that he couldnt miss. Really enjoyed the stay and will return. read more
