This studio has a very nice space and a peaceful aura indicative to the practice of yoga. I go for the Bikram, but will probably try some of the other classes as well. I signed up for the week special and went a couple of times. Both times, the instructors were great. Terri has a firm, yet encouraging voice that gets you through the 90 minutes. I don't mind that the studio does not have carpet. To be honest, I prefer it that way, so that I won't have to smell the funk of hot sweaty feet (eweeeww) right as my face goes down for the Locust pose. The price is competitive with other studios, so no stress there. There is street parking as well, or if you want a nice relaxing cool down, ride your bike instead (lol). read more

This is more than a yoga studio- it's a family. I started my yoga journey with Om in 2013 and never looked back. I quickly joined the work study team, cleaning the studio after classes, and got to know the owners and all the teachers. Everyone there will know your name, and you'll always feel welcome. I have to give a huge thank you to Beth and Terry for providing this space for me to learn and grow. And a special thanks to Liz Gill, who asked me when I would become a teacher myself- an idea I originally scoffed at. I'm happy to say I finally completed my YTT this year and am teaching at a studio in Virginia outside D.C.! I'm addicted to this place. I love the benefits of yoga but never realized what a challenging workout it could be until I discovered the Babtiste tradition. The instructors at Om are all great and very accommodating to yogis of all levels. The studio is clean, spacious, and as odor-free as a 95 degree room packed with 50 vigorously moving people could possibly be. Come prepared to sweat! read more

Challenging classes. A little corporate and uniform, but overall good. Kelly Moore is the best. Hot, which I love, but there no showers, which is a strange combination. There are 5 or 6 changing rooms and a lot of open space in this studio where they could install showers. I would give more stars if there were showers. This place is A+, phenomenal! I took two 60 minute Vinyasa classes with Annie and it was everything that I needed it to be. At first, I was thrown by how hot it was in the studio. Hot vinyasa was a bit of a different experience for me. Annie walked me through a great class both times. Normally, I can't focus for the entire class. My mind almost always drifts back to work or class, whatever was a bigger stress point that day. With Annie, however, it was a retreat from life. She was able to guide the class such that my mind was at ease. The class was calming and enjoyable. After the class, I felt the way yoga is supposed to make you feel: refreshed and tranquil. Om on the Range is a well-run and well-rounded studio. Street parking can be difficult for the 4:30pm class, so be sure to arrive a few minutes early. read more

4.5 stars Om on the Range has it all...it's clean and bright, and I get a sense of relaxation the minute I walk in the door. I've practiced here for about 6 months and it is much more "zen" than my previous Bikram studio. Each instructor creates a different atmosphere for the class (lighthearted, serious, mental vs. physical focus); it can vary greatly! Especially if there are newbie's in the class - as is often the case at Wednesday 7 p.m. Nonetheless, each instructor is motivating and nonjudgmental in their own way. Plus, a short walk from the brown line and Lincoln bus. The entrance can be a bit tricky to find (address is on Ravenswood but main entrance is on Grace). read more

I want to say this place truly is a gem for all the yoga studios out there in Chicago. If you are looking for a true Vinyasa yoga class, come to "Om On the Range." It is definitely challenging but that is what makes this studio and the instructors so unique. I come out of each class feeling even more revitalized than I did before. Be aware that the classes are slightly heated but just enough to get your blood flowing! I would suggest bringing a towel and a water bottle, just in case :) Do yourself a favor and take a class here, you won't regret it! read more

I love love love Beth and Terry Kiely's studio at Om. I have been an on and offer at Om on the Range practicing Bikram when I get a chance. I wont lie, I truly would love to do it more often but price and time is a factor for me running around with kids and needing more me time. THe 26 Asanas that are done truly are amazing and I hope to eventually practice Bikram more than my infrequent practice. Im trying. SO beneficial for the endocrine,cardiac, muscular and all systems in between. THat heat just truly noodles you up. In addition, EVERY SINGLE TIME I come back and buy sessions, they are super welcoming (not sure if they remember me which is totally cool either way when you run your studio), helpful if any students are positioned a tiny bit incorrectly, and so down right genuine, that it gives me all the more reason to come to OM. I love this studio. The studio itself is lovely and very clean and you never feel like you're an outsider! Go go go and enjoy your sweat session and centering! read more

Beth and Terry are the best. Throughout the years their teaching and practice has matured, evolved, and blossomed. I am honored to share my practice with them when I can. I feel inspired every time I leave the studio. The studio itself is a peaceful environment. The teachers are all educated in yoga and beyond. They are compassionate and fun. The community at Om on the Range is almost like a family. It's not snobby like some other studios or pretentious. I feel like most people are there to practice yoga and connect, not compare or compete. I totally give this place 5 stars because they deserve every bit. Om's Zoom and socially-distant outdoor in-person classes have been a godsend! I was a regular at the studio in the pre-Covid days and am so happy to be able to continue to practice with these excellent teachers! Now my out-of-town friends and family are joining me for online yoga classes and they love them as much as I do. Whether it's your first class or thousandth, you'll be greeted like an old friend at the beginning of class and feel great after. Oh, and they're free! I just started coming here 2 weeks ago, and had specifically looked for a yoga studio that had all levels/ages/body types, was nurturing and had little instructor turnover. The only reservation I had was the heat...I am a convert! I love this place!! Don't get me wrong, I completely suck at yoga, but after my first class, Beth (one of the founders/owners) told me "You did awesome, your goal for now should be to keep showing up". I'm a huge fan of Bikram yoga and have practiced at many studios. This is the best studio I've ever been to for Bikram. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming. While classes at a lot of studios feel competitive, Beth's classes feel very nurturing, which is needed from time to time. The studio just opened a second location in Bucktown, but sadly, there's no Bikram classes at this location. Unfortunately I no longer go to this studio because I've moved away from the area. However, should they bring Bikram to new studio in Bucktown, I will definitely take classes their again. read more

I am not much of a yoga person but I figured I would give it a try. I went to Bikram yesterday, it was a 90 minute class. 90 minutes of heat (104 degrees)...what? And I have asthma, am I crazy? Well, I made it through the ninety minutes of extreme heat mainly by controlling my breaths as the instructor advised to. It was not as bad as I expected, which was to have an asthma attack with all the heat but I survived and was attack free. I was sweating like hell and felt lighter as I walked out the door. The instructor was very attentive and made sure everyone was doing the right movement and not injuring themselves. I had no clue what I was doing but the instructor made sure I didn't break anything. As far as a price goes, it was not too bad, I would definitely purchase a package, it is much cheaper and the packages don't expire. The people there are extremely nice and welcoming. Parking is available on Ravenswood, you don't need a permit unless there is a cubs night game--which the studio provides you with a pass. Looks like I am sqeezing Bikram in my schedule!!! This review is strictly for the Bikram yoga class. Let me preface by saying I have done yoga on and off for years. At one point, I was actually nice and limber and getting myself into poses I never believed possible. So when I read about Bikram yoga (the hot class where the studio is heated to 109 degrees), I was on board. I even pestered a few friends into trying it with me. They resisted, saying, "It will be too hot!" and "I'll never make it through a 90 minute class in 109 degree heat." I thought, "Pfft. They're a bunch of pansies," and promptly signed all of us up on their website for a Saturday morning class. Um, I was wrong. I'm the pansy. Rewind: The studio is very nice and welcoming. The nice lady at the front desk checks you in, you pay (or pay online when you sign up) and she gives a pep talk for newbies on what to expect in the class. Very professional and helpful. But I'll be honest, all that hippie love goes right out the window when you start sweating profusely upon entering the class and suddenly get a feeling in the pit of your stomach that this class is going to go very, very badly. For me, its not that the poses themselves were challenging, because they weren't. It's that it was SO damn hot in there. Seriously. Very, very hot and very, very sweaty. My clothes were so saturated that I looked like I just jumped into a swimming pool in my tank top and yoga pants. Ew. About 1/2 way through the class, I knew I was going to pass out or throw up or maybe both, so I made a hasty exit, puked by my car and drove home. I was too embarrassed to even go back in to get my mat and towel, let alone sign up for another yoga class, but if you're immune to the heat and want to amp up your yoga routine, give Bikram a try! read more

I have no idea why it has taken me this long to write a review for this studio...since I have been in love with it since my very first class here over a year ago. This is in my opinion simply one of the best yoga studios in the city! I had previously been super intimidated by yoga classes. I am most definately not one of those granola, vegetarian, buddhist, new agey types who has been doing yoga since I was 4...in fact I am Christian, pretty inflexible, tend toward the chunky side did my very first Yoga class about 4 years ago and am a committed carnivore. Beth and Terry the owners and all of the teachers are extremely encouraging, pay very close attention to their students, provide excellent adjustments, and have never made me feel bad for modifying poses. They seem to very much have a "we will meet you wherever you are" philospohy. While I have taken an occasional Bikram class (cant say I am in love with the robotic sameness of it)...I actually prefer their 60 and 75min Vinyasa classes which seem to flow better and are always challenging and different. All of the teachers are so friendly and make a point to know your name. Nothing make you feel more welcome and happy than coming in a place and having people greet you individually...it feels like you are walking into the bar at "Cheers" and that always makes my workout go better. The studio is clean, bright, serene and NOT SMELLY. I sweat a ton in class and always leave feeling strong, calm, refreshed and like a million bucks! I recently completed a 40d yoga program with them and it was truly a transformative experience which if you had told me a year ago I NEVER would have thought I could finish that. It is a testament to the encouraging and supportive nature of this studio. So I definately encourage all (especially yoga newbies) to come to this awesome studio. 30 Bikram Yoga classes later, I cannot imagine my life without it. Going to yoga class is really my escape from the world, and a 90 minute practice can turn around even the worst days. Even though you may be in a 100 degree room with 20 other people, it is a very much a personal time for meditation and challenge. I love taking classes with Beth and Annie, as well as Mara and Christine. They really do make a point to watch everyone in the class and help make adjustments. If a pose is looking a little too easy, they challenge you to go farther. If you look like you are struggling, they will suggest an easier variation. Regular yoga classes have made me more mindful of my body and posture. I have been standing and sitting up taller, have larger lung capacity and have been in a better place overall. And my skin looks awesome! read more

Everyone on staff is nice and helpful...but in a recent class, the studio was literally filled to capacity, at least 50 people if not more. Mats were practically edge to edge and there was no room to stretch during the moves (swinging your arms out of a pose, etc). I found this a bit unprofessional and think they should establish an acceptable limit. Also, it just randomly happened that someone passed out in class. The large number of students in the studio made it that much harder to keep a calm atmosphere and help the guy out. read more

HOT HOT HOT! I went with a friend and both of us were sopping with sweat when we left. It felt great! We both had never done Yoga before and the staff was very welcoming. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend to anyone, beginners and advanced. The often have session that are learning session with a smaller group with individual attention. This studio is AMAZING! I practice Vinyasa yoga and love it best when it is done in a hot room. I always feel like a million dollars when I leave this place. It is fantastic. I only wish I lived closer so I can go everday! The instructors are fabulous and always eager to help! This studio is an open environment where everyone is encouraged to listen to their bodies. Some days, I have to go down in child's pose more often than others, or step out of the room for a quick drink. I too have only been twice for Bikram, but after the second visit, I think I can do it regularly. Om On The Range is a small, serene studio, but really packs 'em in for Saturday and 8:00 am (which seems make the room HOTTER). I misread the laminated sheet for first timers and didn't drink enough water. BIG mistake...when I finally recovered, I went home, showered and slept for 4 hours, exhausted. Second time was really good, and it did a nice job on my stress for the day. I'd recommend this studio to newbies - really, REALLY go at your own pace; ignore the bendy hardbodies next to you, go to child's pose whenever you need to rest and sip LOTS of water during the session. read more

I left my apartment today half an hour early to get to a yoga class at Om On the Range, which is only an 8 minute drive from where I live. The weather was terrible and I ended up reaching the studio at 12:01 pm for a class that started at 12:00 pm. I had called ahead to tell the instructor I would be late because of the traffic delay due to the weather. Instead of being accommodating in any possible way, the instructor dismissed my request and locked the door of the studio leaving me to be pelted by hail for the ten minutes I had to wait to find a ride back to my apartment. This is the most disrespect I have encountered at ANY yoga studio I've ever been to. I would not recommend this studio to anyone and hope that the instructors at this studio will be taught to improve the way in which they conduct themselves. read more

I've been going to this yoga studio for seven years and I love it. Even when I moved farther away and had a bikram studio right down the street from my new place, I continued driving to Om. Terry and Beth are first rate. The right balance of new-age philosophers and gurus of the adage "I don't take myself too seriously." It's a comfortable, welcoming environment. Hot yoga is HOT! You will not feel intimidated when you first enter Om on the Range, in fact you will think this is not so "hot". That is because you are in the main room, the heated room is behind the mirrors! As a first time Yogie, the staff made me feel comfortable and answered any questions that I had. Once inside the large sauna, we began to stretch, twist, breathe and posture. What an incredible workout and a great feeling when it was all said and done. Beware, Bikram here is addicting. The space here is really lovely, very sunny and bright and clean. The teachers are very helpful and more than willing to answer questions before or after class. They also offer occasional workshops that focus on different things, and beginner's vinyasa if you want to ease into yoga. Om is my favorite at least twice weekly yoga stop. I started in January and am NOT athletic by any stretch of the imagination. It literally took me 8 months to be able to do high plank to low plank with out the knee down modification. Instructors give modification info. Be sure to let them know your level of experience. I have had many instructors and they are all great; Beth, Annie, Terry, Whitney, Stacia, but Liz is my FAVORITE! Bucktown studio nice too. read more

I've been practicing yoga with Om On the Range since last fall. The instructors are very knowledgeable and hands on. Literally hands on (doesn't bother me-it's the best way to help people understand a posture). It's not as hot as other bikram I've done. I think they keep this pretty close to 105, some studios get hotter than that (ridiculous, I know). I love the way the heat/humidity loosens me up and relaxes me. I also love yoga that's such great cardio. Compared to other bikram studios, the instructors here seem to know more. I've seen them help people do more variations and give more instructions on how to do the poses accurately. I really feel like I'm learning more and challenged more at this studio. The new student package ($20 for unlimited classes for one week) is not the best that I've seen for bikram studios, but it's a decent way to see if you like it. I've never done a Vinyasa class, despite their 1 hour beginners class that they sometimes run, so I'm not sure if those classes are good or not. I've had at least five different instructors here, probably more. For the most part, extremely good. On rare occasion, they have spouted some spiritual stuff that I didn't care for. And once there were some brand new students who weren't given any extra instruction and may have needed it. But these are exceptions for this otherwise solid yoga studio. Oh, and I love that they don't have carpet. Bikram studios are supposed to be carpeted, so they're bucking tradition a bit. But seriously, carpet under the feet of hundreds of sweaty yogis every day? I have been practicing Bikram yoga on and off for the past few years and have hit up most of the studios in the city due to the awesome intro packages they offer. Unfortunately, this incredibly challenging physical and mental experience happens to come with a bit of a price tag and on top of my $48 a month gym membership, my checking account starts to tear up a bit by the end of the month. My friend Annalisa recommended this studio to me because of the Baptiste Vinyasa classes they offer. She claimed it was more of a workout than the Bikram class, so naturally I had to see what it was all about because I had thought Bikram was pretty challenging. I rode my bike over to the studio and stepped inside and I fell in love with the space. It gets a lot of natural sunlight and the hardwood floors with the exposed brick make it a great space to practice. I signed up for the $20 week, unlimited classes intro package and went straight for the gold and took the Baptiste Vinyasa class that Terry was teaching that Sunday morning. I am not sure what I had expected, but I was thankful for those power yoga classes I was doing in my living room over the winter, or I would have been completely lost. ( Recommendation: Take the basics class first. ) I have never taken any other "formal" yoga class other than bikram so I was definitely trying to keep up with everyone. Luckily for me I managed to land my towel down next to a girl that "clearly" knew what she was doing, so I was able to attempt to keep up with her flow. 90 minutes later I stumbled out of there with a red-purple face, soaking wet with sweat, but feeling like a million bucks! What a workout! I have been exercising for years and I have never been that challenged or had experienced anything as intense as this class. Even though I was overheated and trying to manipulate my fairly inflexible body into poses that had never been experienced before, on top of holding up my body weight, I made it through and did not collapse faced down on the towel...impressive. ;) The next day I tried out the Bikram class that Beth was instructing. It was amazing. She is the best instructor I have ever had the opportunity to practice with and it made me really excited about getting back into yoga again. Between her and Terry it is no wonder why their classes are always full. They both have a great combination of being both intuitive, insightful, and clear in directing you into the next posture. Needless to say I was hooked! I have since signed up for the $150 monthly unlimited package and shelled out some cashola for a couple of the yogitoes towels, which are a true winner as well! Even though I have not been able to go as often as I have liked due to traveling and other summer events I have been to at least 11 classes and plan to go another 2 more times before I have to renew, so it works out monetarily wise. Plus, nothing makes you feel as good, inside and out as yoga. :) read more

If you are looking for a back-up Bikram Yoga studio, this is a great place. Terry is by far the best instructor, so go to his class if you can. The reason it's not my first choice of studio is that the heating system is very loud and uneven, and many of the instructors allow variations to the Bikram practice that compromise the integrity of the series in my personal opinion. However, I do still go there from time to time and it's a great alternative to my preferred studio on Clark and Diversey. Namaste! read more
