I would receive calls and texts from Rupa to check on how I'm doing, answer any questions I had and provided tips and suggestions on what to do next as my pregnancy progressed. We had a weekly check-in call, and really made me feel like I could ask anything at any time and they would respond with a lot of helpful information. She would also proactivly email my husband and I information on things we did not even think of asking. Their team provided their unbiased opinions on everything pregnancy related and allowed us formulate our own opinions and supported us the entire time with the choices we made. Their team of professionals really put my mind at ease. Nikki, their nutritionist made a meal plan for me to work with my gallbladder inflammation and low iron levels. She was also very helpful with teaching about breastfeeding basics. Steve hosted an infant CPR class and taught my husband and I the Infant Heimlich Maneuver. Tricia assisted my husband and I with all of our newborn-care questions. My husband and I had 2 in-office visits with Rupa where we both practiced pain-management techniques, and created a personalized birth-plan. Both Doulas Rupa and Rashida assisted throughout my labor contractions at home, and met us at the hospital. Although I had an emergency c-section, it was amazing to have the support of Rupa and Rashida while I was faced with that decision. Thank you OneHonestDoula for checking after my C-section. She offered at-home visits to assist with my C-section recovery and breastfeeding support. Rupa even helped me find a pediatrician in my area!They all went above and beyond throughout every aspect of my pregnancy. There are so many things I was unaware of when I got pregnant, and Rupa was extremely professional and kind throughout my whole pregnancy and post partum journey. I was able to be completely vulnerable and express all my concerns and hesitations about giving birth and taking care of a new born. I was very impressed with her background as a Nurse Practitioner, because she also provided additional support after my OBGYN appointments. The resources found at One Honest Doula were unmatched while I compared them to other doulas. I would highly recommend this doula to anyone who is pregnant.

Rupa went above and beyond to provide fantastic support throughout my pregnancy & birth in NYC - she helped with lactation & birth prep classes, provided information on the best exercises & nutrition to support my pregnancy at every stage, helped me prepare my birth plan, and checked in frequently to make sure that I felt as prepared as possible for the birth of my first child. When I went into labor I felt I was prepared because of Rupa. At the hospital during my delivery, Rupa showed up extremely quickly (it was the middle of the night and she traveled all the way to New York City where I was giving birth) and was my #1 advocate. There were moments during labor that I was overwhelmed and Rupa helped me understand my options and talk to the hospital staff about how to best support my labor progression. She was also a huge asset to my partner, coaching him through how to help me with contractions, and how to support me as labor progressed. Throughout my pregnancy, I trusted Rupa's advice & opinions 100%. I appreciated how direct and honest she was every step of the way, and give her all the credit for how smoothly my labor went. After the birth of my child, Rupa continued to check in and provide postpartum information to help me heal. Again, I can not recommend Rupa highly enough. I have used Om Mamas for both of my births. With my first we did everything we could to have a…read morenatural delivery but my son was large, 42 weeks, and determined to stay put despite a two day induction. While I was initially devastated at the thought of a C-section Chelsea was there the whole time, helping me ask the right questions of my providers and allowing me to feel heard and part of the decision. When my baby's heartrate started dropping and he was born with severe torticollis it was clear that he was in a very bad position and the surgery prevented what could have been a very serious outcome. With my second I was determined to have a VBAC, but any C-section mama will tell you, this can be an uphill fight when it comes to your provider. Chelsea and Lauren were available to talk after every appointment. I could vent, and ask questions, and figure out exactly how to put myself in the best possible position to have a vaginal delivery. I'm so pleased that I was able to have a VBAC this past April with my second son and I know that a huge part of it came down to the support of my doulas! These women are so dedicated, staying with you for hours and hours, sitting with you on the floor, holding your hand, wiping your sweat, and squeezing your hips. This is the type of support all birth moms deserve!

My wife first heard of the birthing center after talking to some friends who are not happy with…read moretheir traditional experiences with the birth of their childs, after looking up a lot of things and considering using a midwife practice, we decided that we wanted to check out the Mary O'Shea birth center because it was located in St. Peter's and my concerns were if something happened we were literally inside a hospital already. Over the course of my wife's visits leading up to the birth we met with fairies midwives who were all very kind and knowledgeable. They really put forth the patient's wishes first and try to honor them to the best of their ability while protecting both mom and the baby. My wife and I had our first child last week and the team there was very helpful and did everything they could to make wife's experience as good as possible and took great care of her and our newborn son. The nurse's came in regularly to check in on us while still giving some privacy. They were very helpful and helping her with the first latch and when we had some trouble had offered solutions as well as some tools for us, and they were also very happy to have two different lactation consultants come and work with us that really made a huge difference in the first day. I find it a little hard compared to other experiences as this is our first child, but I can say that when I've heard some other stories it sounds like we had a very blessed experience, and if you were thinking of having children or are already pregnant and looking for a place, I would highly recommend checking out this practice as all of the people here were amazing and went above and beyond.

This class was informative and Cat is super enthusiastic, engaging, and down to earth, so it was very relatable and easy to take in the very detailed info. Information is all evidence based and designed to be able to participate fully in your own birthing care, advocate for yourself, and have full understanding of the birthing process. My hospital birth ended up needing many medically necessary interventions, and this class empowered us to make confident and fearless decisions for ourselves. Because of what we already knew from this class, we felt very comfortable with our care team and the information exchanges surrounding the events. Without this class, this experience may have been scary and traumatic, but the education we received in preparation made it feel very empowering and seamless. I 100% recommend this class to everyone interested in becoming well educated before their birthing experience.

My wife went into labor at 33 weeks. Dr. Tesheva in the hospital made my wife feel as if she was a nuisance, she told her that she is and I quote " taking up beds from other patients". After realizing that she was indeed in labor she did not check on her once until her shift was over. After a year and a half trying to figure out what happened. Countless calls, voicemails canceled appointments to see Dr G we finally manage to get an appointment. We waited 2 hours in the waiting room, we were the last person to be seen! Dr G refused to go over her chart, answer questions and provided the worst possible treatment plan. After consulting with other OB's it is clear as day this practice is falling apart, getting old and lost its care. Stay away and protect your family!
