I don't typically write reviews but this place is just awful. My pedicure took under 15 min & the service was terrible. She "filed" my nails and cuticles with a drill which I've never experienced before (because it does not work). Paint job was so bad I'm sure I'll have to have them redone in a day or two. I come to this salon sometimes because it's so close to my house. I've read poor reviews on here before but I found one that said Jo did the best job so I went to see her last time, and she really did do a great job. Jo was not at the salon today so Julie did my nails. I just wanted a polish change, but she did not do a good job at all. I didn't expect the full manicure treatment, but when Jo did my polish change last time she at least punched my cuticles back a bit. Julie used the sandpaper block all over my fingers tearing up my nail beds and cuticles. One even bled a little. It hurt so bad but I didn't say anything in hopes that the polish would look ok. After she sanded my nails/fingers she didn't even bother to have me wash my hands or wipe the nail dust off before painting them. The paint was all over my nail beds, cuticles, some of the paint was uneven, and there was hair stuck to the polish on a few of my nails. I dried them for a minute but then asked the ladies sitting next to me their opinion. They said they looked awful and I should say something. I told Julie that I wasn't happy with them and she rolled her eyes, walked away, and started yelling in Vietnamese. I then asked another nail tech to see if he could fix them and she came back, grabbed me by my arm, and basically drug me to another nail tech whom I'm assuming was the manager. He was very nice and told me he would have someone fix them. Anne did a really great job and took the time to make sure my nails looked good. I went ahead and got the upgrade to a full manicure because my nails were so tore up and sore from the job Julie did. 2 hours later I'm leaving the salon and I don't think I'll be coming back soon. read more

Got charged for a full set instead of a fill-in, on top of two pedicures and while I was sitting in the chair waiting for the lady to do my fill-in, a roach was climbing on the walls and floor. The tech didn't even seem bothered by it. The pedicure was mediocre at best and they did close to nothing to exfoliate the bottom of our feet. And after it was all done, they had the audacity to ASK for a tip, even after over-charging me for the fill-in. I most crtainly won't be going here again and I don't recommend anyone else do so, either. I usually to go Longleaf nails and they're great. The only reason I even came to this place was because Longleaf is closed on Sundays. Never again. Friggin gross. read more

OMG I advise everyone who want to come there think very carefully before you coming, it's the worst nail salon in wilmington my wife ever experienced. I have been getting my eyebrows waxed at various nail salons for years. I have been burned twice, both times at bonjour. This past time I knew something was off when I left. They stung so badly and I was in genuine pain. I recognize that my skin might be extra sensitive but I have a big burn mark on my eyelid where I am sure no hair ever was. I have been in so much pain and have never seen burns from waxing this badly. Do yourself a favor and don't come here for waxing. read more

Alright folks, this is a long one so strap in. My friend and I went to get our nails done here after she had done copious amounts of research (unfortunately she did not check yelp, otherwise we would have chosen somewhere else). We made an appointment to get the signature manicure. Now, I'm not a nail tech but I thought a "manicure" and "getting your nails done" were the same thing. Apparently not. We went in, sat down and the presumed owner told us that we didn't need a manicure because all it is is massages, and that we should invest our money in gel polish instead. The gel polish was a $16 up charge, which she didn't tell us until after we'd already gotten started. We tried to ask her more questions about prices and what our best options would be and she kept interrupting us and wouldn't answer any of our questions. A random man then comes and tells us to pick out our polishes, we try to ask him questions and he completely blows us off, telling us that we need to ask the person doing our nails those questions. Funnily enough, we ended up having the unhelpful owner do my nails and the even more unhelpful man do my friend's. I got fake nails and wanted a specific shape, so I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She said that it would be extra because they were long nails (they were more like a short medium length) and I asked how much, thinking she was being serious. However, she laughed while I was asking, cluing me in to the fact that she was joking. She then immediately got serious and said it would be $10. My guess is that she literally made that number up on the spot after I took her seriously to try and get more money out of me. After giving her a look, she told me I should get short nails and then proceeded to cut them short and make them square instead of the shape I wanted. The owner then took the grinder thingy and went over my nails, but then she got a little sloppy and cut me more than once, all on my left hand. I'm used to nail techs hurting me a little every once in a while, but this lady made me BLEED. It was visibly red and hurt so I took my hand back to look at it. She then took my hand back and with at least two different buffering tools (I think one was a nail file and the other was one of those little foam rectangular cube things) AGGRESSIVELY buffed over my injured flesh. Afterwards, my friend told me that the man she was with had done the exact same thing to her. My hands were then covered in little pieces of my nails, so she took a DIRTY brush and went over my hands. I'm not joking when I say I could feel other people's nail fragments in the brush going over my open cuts. My friends and my hands then had alcohol poured over them. Both nail techs were absolutely uncommunicative and pretty much only spoke to each other in a different language. Luckily, I then moved over to a younger girl to do my design. They apparently only had one person working there who is competent enough to do designs. And when I say competent enough, I mean the man doing my friends nails could not even draw a line on one nail, he had to get the design girl to do it. I wanted to get a 3D design on my ring fingers, something I've had other techs do for me in the past no problem. The girl didn't know how to but said she would try. It took her a little while to get the hang of it, but she got the first one done. Moving on to the second, it was like she didn't care as much because the first one at least looks crisp and has defined lines, whereas the second one looks like it was pretty at first and then someone took their finger and smushed down on it. The picture that I gave her to follow had a completely white 3D design, which is how I wanted it, but then she put silver glitter polish on it without asking if I wanted it or not (I didn't). However, I will say she was the nicest and did the best job. Cut to a couple of days later and my friends cuts(yes she received quite a few as well) are red and causing her a ton of pain. I wouldn't be surprised if they are infected. Her husband decides that this isn't okay (it's not) so he calls to politely ask for a refund. He asks for the owner and the woman on the phone says the owner isn't there. He tells her that his wife is having a lot of pain because of the cuts and that he would like a refund. This woman knew exactly who he was talking about without him going any further in description and told him that if we wanted a refund then we had to come in and have them take off our nails. Surprise, she IS the owner and lied about the owner not being there! She immediately became defensive and constantly talked over him, treating him like a moron. He then asked her "are your nails supposed to bleed when you get them done?" She REFUSED to answer this question. He continued to ask, at least 10 more times before she finally said "I don't have time to argue over the phone". She was completely rude and unapologetic. I will be spreading the word about my experience here. read more

Was not pleased with this salon at all. I specifically asked for the 26$ pedicure and small up charge that I usually get for 5$ for the gel coat. My total for a manicure and pedicure came out to be 90$ and when I told them how unhappy I was with paying this high of a price for what I usually get for 60$ they did nothing about it. Also...the massage I got for both my pedicure and manicure were awful and were not what someone should be getting for a total of 90$. Worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon by far. read more

Everyone was really nice and accommodating but that's about it. I was talked into a service I wasn't planning to get and then my finger was cut which I haaaaaaaaate so that pretty much left a sour taste for me! I always like to vet out my places, but I was with friends so how could I be the only party pooper? Haha. Pricier than other places I've been, even within larger metropolitan areas. I work in customer service so I am usually understanding if places are busy or understaffed but this was quite possibly the worst nail experience I have ever had. To begin, I booked an appointment for 12 pm and arrived at 11:58 to check in, yet was not seen until 12:40. I then asked for a regular french tip manicure, no gel, however, the woman doing my nails proceeded to give me gel polish. As she was cutting my cuticles she made a deep cut on my left middle finger, which would usually not be a big deal, but it has been over an hour and my finger has not stopped bleeding and is now showing signs of infection. The manicure was rushed and my nails turned out sloppy and uneven. Finally, when I went to check out there was a "10% off if you pay with cash" sign up front. I asked for 10% off the service and they proceeded to tell me the promo had ended yesterday and would not apply to my bill. I will not being going back and I would not recommend. read more

I did not like my experience when I went to Bonjour. Not only did the nail tech basically sit there and argue with me about what I wanted the whole time, but my nails turned out so bad, I had to get them re-done the next day at a different salon. This experience was a few years ago, but it still doesn't sit well with me, and I have never returned. I also can see that by the other reviews, they haven't improved over the years. Horrible. I am so disappointed in my manicure and nail polish. Not sure what I paid for. No hand massage, no oil or lotion. Heck, she didn't even push back my cuticles... just started cutting them! TERRIBLE experience. The lady that did my pedicure completely skipped the massage. I politely asked her if she would put lotion prior to painting and she slapped it on. My pedicure was done...polish and all in less than 30 minutes and she hacked off all my toe nails. The same lady had no clue as to what order to perform a manicure. Thankfully Julie completed my gel polish and did a decent painting job. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. At check out I explained I was unhappy w my pedicure and asked to be charged for a toe polish change instead and it was not granted. I went in without an appointment on a Sunday. Julie was the manicurist. I needed to have my dip polish removed and new dip polish. I kept telling her she was hurting my cuticles. She ignored me and kept using her emery board on me. Unfortunately, I had to be home by 2:30 and didn't have time to go to another place. When I went home my cuticles were bleeding. This place deserves no stars. I will never go back. I'm surprised they even have a license. Terrible! read more

The lady that did my pedicure and manicure was very nice so I really hate to give a bad review but one of my cuticles was cut too close and my finger is red. The application of the polish was very sloppy. Also got polish on my skin. I was able to scrape it off but I've never had this happen. read more

I know I've posted a review here before and somehow it's disappeared. I think I remember this place used to be listed under Bon Jour (with a space). Anyhow, I regularly get my nails done here. No, it's not the best but I have yet to find the best place for nails in Wilmington. What I mean by that is there's one gal who is the best. Her name is Jo (her chair is back left) and if you want her you need to get there early on Saturday. The rest are inconsistent and they make me bleed every time which makes me want to throw up in my mouth. But, their prices are good. $31 gel mani, $16 reg mani (I think) and $26 classic pedi. I really am confused about the ratings posted. I recently moved to ILM and had to search for a nail tech that would listen to how I wanted my nails specifically. It took a couple of bad experiencing and the I found Lin. She moved across the street to Bonjour Nails and my experiences at Bonjour nails over past two months has been positive. After moving to Wilmington it took several bad experiences to finally find a professional salon where you can make an appointment, feel pampered, can relax and walk out with nails that are beautiful and perfect. The pedi was okay. I was pushed off to another tech (an older man) for my acrylic tips who tried to use the drill to file my nails down, when I requested it not be used he got pissy and proceeded to barely even rough up the surface with a regular file. He was really rough with my hands the whole time. Then when he "had" to use the drill to trim my cuticles he cut my thumb and got mad again when I had to ask he put a antiseptic on the wound. 5 days later 2 nails have popped off! Lastly, he tried to get me to pick a gel color without mentioning it was a $16 price increase. I'll never go back. Save your $. read more

Went in for a pedicure a couple of weeks ago. As I began to notice certain steps were being skipped over such as working on my cuticles. She didn't put any kind of scrub or lotion on either of my legs/feet, and only scrubbed the bottom of one of my feet. I waited until closer to the end to see if she was just doing it in a different order. As she started to open the nail polish, I realized these things were in fact not going to be done. I didn't want to be rude, but I had paid for this so I asked her if she would clip some of the skin around my cuticles. When the woman working on the client looked at her in annoyance, she proceeded to attempt to convince me that she had. Feeling very awkward I said "well.. you didn't, it's okay if you forgot, but can you just do it now." She continued to act like she had done everything she was supposed to do, I think because she didn't want to get in trouble. Bonjour nails really needs to step up their game. They need to do everything their supposed to do, and do it well. There's no reason why someone should pay for a lazy pedicure. They should stop trying to rush people through to get more customers in to give every customer a good experience. read more

I work hard for my money and I want to get the very best service and know that my business matters to the establishment. After moving to Wilmington last August, I visited four different salons, seven times and was disappointed by the first three. Bonjour was the fourth salon I frequented, and at long last, I found my new home! I get a pedicure, gel nail polish and eyebrow waxing every couple of weeks. Often, I can even go three weeks because my nails are done so well. All the technicians are wonderful because Lyn, the owner, keeps a watchful eye on her clients. She truly cares about you leaving happy. I'm 62 years old and my nails have never looked better. Bonjour is also in a convenient location next to Harris Teeter at the Mayfaire Mall, with plenty of parking. Whether you're new to the area or unhappy with your current salon I highly recommend you give Lyn a call. read more

My experience today was terrible. First of all, I was moved 3 different times before I had someone available to work on my manicure. The technician then had a hard time finding the color I wanted. As she started working on my nails, she never asked what shape I wanted my nails and once she started filing them, she was very rough and kept filing my nails in a shape that I did not like. I had to show her what shape I wanted. When taking my cuticle off, she continued to be very rough and I kept bleeding. She kept saying that my skin was very "thin" and that was why I was bleeding so often. That process was very painful! She did agree to change the color of the nail polish after I told her I did not like the way the color I picked looked on my nails. She totally skipped the massage and when I got home I had to put antibiotic ointment and band-aids in three of my fingers because they were hurting so much!!! I will never go back there!!!! read more

I had a very bad experience! None of them speak English they act like they can understand us and they do do their special talk. I can't locate a owner or a manager. I got the technician girl named Tammy she was so very very very rude. She kept digging her fingernail in my finger which has a scab now. I asked her to file them skinny and not thick and she just grunted at me and barely answered me. I was doing silver and blue and when I look down my silver looked gold and said oh no that's not the right color it's supposed to be silver she then argued with me back and forth and I kept telling her no it's silverlook my nail is goldish no no she says. I just finally told her look it's your responsibility to make my fingernail looks silver like the bottle she started talking her talk to me and then finally the guy next to her took over took the bottle painted silver like it was supposed to be and I was so upset I was shaking and crying. I visited here with a bridal party last week. We had 1:00 appointment, but did not all get started immediately as they had taken a few walk ins before us. Most of us were getting manicures and pedicures. While the pedicures were completed pretty quickly, the manicures took a ridiculous amount of time. The colors on the gel nail polish samples were incorrect and the nail tech couldn't find the color I wanted so I had to tell her to pick anything close. My nail tech and another tech also kept taking apart the light bulbs in the table I was sitting at while my manicure was drying, even though s several other stations were available. I had to tell the girl doing my nails that I really needed to hurry as I had the wedding rehearsal later that afternoon. She told me to stop trying to "race around" and did not try to hurry the process at all. I ended up being there for over two hours and barely made it to the rehearsal on time because of lackadaisical attitudes of the staff. read more

I came in here the other day to get my acrylic nails filled (not originally done here) and to get the colored changed. I picked out my gel polish color and waited about 10-15 minutes while the woman who did my nails finished up the person before me. All while about 5 other nail technicians were just walking around the place not doing anything. Eventually it was my turn and the lady who did my nails didn't speak to me at all after I handed her the color sample I wanted. One of the other ladies in there walked up and talked to the lady doing my nails the ENTIRE TIME, therefore distracting the woman from paying attention to what she was doing. She ended up cutting my fingers about 3-4 times and she seemed like she was rushing to finish. Somehow my nails turned out really nice but the customer service was god awful. I got one really bad cut on my cuticle and it's still very sore and red. I will definitely not be coming back here. I was also charged me $35 for something that should have been about $25. read more
