If you value professionalism, honesty, and basic customer service, stay far away from Ombre Salon. The owner, Marwa, is condescending, dismissive, and completely unprofessional when handling customer concerns. Instead of listening and making things right, she gaslights clients, refuses to take accountability, and then mocks them online. I strongly encourage you to read the other one-star reviews, my experience is not an isolated case. Please refer to the videos I posted on here that she posted on her business account, she is truly SHAMELESS. I originally booked this appointment before my honeymoon because I wanted a fresh, professional hair color for my trip. My hair was originally brown with red undertones from when I dyed it chocolate brown in October 2024. My goal was to cancel out the redness and achieve a neutral brown shade. I provided the stylist, Jonathan, with multiple TikTok reference videos of the color I wanted. I also told him that if my ideal look wasn't possible, I wanted my hair to be as close to my natural medium neutral brown as possible. My natural color was visible in my grown-out roots, so it should have been easy to match. I also requested face-framing highlights for added dimension. At no point did Jonathan tell me my request wasn't achievable. When we finished after 8 PM, I could already tell my hair looked darker than expected, but I wanted to see it in natural daylight before saying anything. The next morning, I saw my hair in daylight, and it was pitch black--not brown. Worse, my face-framing highlights looked ashy and gray against the harsh black base color. Instead of adding dimension, they just made my hair look like I had grown-out gray streaks. I immediately reached out to Jonathan, but since he was out of town, the salon owner, Marwa, contacted me and said she could fix it. She said she would use a clarifying shampoo and color remover to lift the black dye and tone the highlights if necessary. However, during my correction appointment, none of that actually worked. While she was blow-drying my hair, she made a condescending remark, saying: "I always tell my clients to never change their hair or eyebrows before a major event because they might not be happy with the result. I hope you learned your lesson." The only lesson I learned was to never come back to this salon. Halfway through blow-drying, I asked to step outside to check my hair in natural lighting. When I sat back down, I told her directly that no actual changes were made--my hair was still black. Instead of addressing the issue, she told me no salon would be able to make me happy because "I had no idea what I wanted." That is completely false because I clearly communicated my expectations from the start. Marwa then tried to justify it by saying the black hair dye "canceled out the red," which was what I wanted. That is NOT true. Yes, black dye cancels out red--but it also cancels out everything else. Using pitch black dye to "neutralize red tones" is not a professional approach and was absolutely not what I asked for. She ultimately gave me a refund, and I initially wasn't going to write a bad review--until I saw the unprofessional and condescending Instagram story she posted about me ON HER BUSINESS ACCOUNT. In the video, she claimed that if someone "can't afford a high-end salon, they shouldn't go there" and that she had clearly explained the process during the consultation. This is completely untrue, and my text messages with her prove it. There was never a discussion about the process, nor was I informed that bleaching was necessary to achieve my color. Had I known, I would have made a different decision. Additionally, let me be clear--wanting a refund does not mean I "can't afford" a high-end salon. It means I'm not willing to pay for bad service. I asked the stylist to avoid doing a very specific cut on my hair and was very clear about the concern prior to the cut -- even showing photos (it's a cut/layering technique that I have ended up occasionally over the years and I don't like it.) Unfortunately, she didn't understand/said I asked for it. As such, I am not very happy with how it turned out. She tried to educate me for the future, and she said it will grow out in a month or two. I have no idea why there are so many good reviews. I came here to get my hair highlighted because of the reviews and that was such a mistake. (Seriously please listen to me). I have never cried over hair before until I got my hair done here. Marwa does not know how to give clients what they want it seems like. I showed her photos of what I wanted and also photos of my own hair in the past (because i know what my hair can look like I've had it before) and she agreed and said she CAN do it. She ended up coloring my hair to a completely different color. It turned out ashy with uneven bleach through out my whole head. Random bleach spots throughout, no blending, weird thin money piece, overall bad. The cherry on top was the pricing and it definitely does not reflect on the results. For the price I spent I could've gone to a NYC salon and gotten way more out of the appointment. Throughout my appointment SEVERAL clients walked in for their service. She overbooks clients and each appointment overlaps. Leaving me in the chair for a long time with bleach in my hair. Not very professional. I left the place with wet hair not knowing what the actual results were. When I got home and blow dried my hair to see the results, I was livid. There's no words to describe how I was feeling. I reached out to her to let her know I am very unhappy and she was so rude and defensive and started blaming me on how it's my hair's fault. I recently removed my extensions and darkened my hair color at another salon and I was unhappy with the results. I found Marwa on Yelp and I am so glad I did! The salon is an absolutely gorgeous Insta worthy jewel box close to my house in Arlington. I can't believe I had never walked past it before. It's decorated so nicely and even had some cute Halloween decor up! As someone who loves holidays I was impressed with that. I was early and I was offered a drink on arrival and greeted by Marwa who was finishing up another client. Before we got started I showed her a few photos of hair color I had in the past that I liked and we agreed on balayage. Marwa noted that with my eye color I did not have the right tone of color and it was too dark. Some random things to mention - The foils for my hair color were adorable printed pink and green foils with a matching brush, and the sinks were the most comfortable I've ever sat in. Good haircut, unpleasant customer service experience. I have never felt so down after a haircut before. I asked for a simple trim (I have long hair, layered) and the stylist was clearly unhappy about the length of my layers from my previous haircut elsewhere. The reason I tried Ombre was to get a higher quality cut, because I also thought my layers were too choppy before... but when the stylist made multiple comments of "I can't fix *that*" and "just so you know, this (piece of layer) wasn't *me*", I felt humiliated and like I was a burden for going to get a trim at this place. The comments were unnecessary and unkind. For half the time the stylist had me turned away from the mirror, so I couldn't see what was going on. More comments were made throughout the haircut and blow dry, and I felt confused, because I never said anything and had just been happy to get a better hair cut. I never questioned the skill of the stylist, but I did expect to be treated with respect and kindness. I also felt like the stylist treated me in a condescending manner when I asked for my hair to be blow dried with the ends flipped under instead of curled with an iron. If I'd been able to see my hair in the mirror during the drying process, I could've said something earlier. I did not feel welcome in this place. It's a shame because the cut is good, but I won't be paying money to be treated this way again. Maybe if I'd had the owner (who seems to have many positive reviews) as my stylist, things would have been different. read more

Terrible! She is a hair criminal!!! I showed her pictures of what I wanted for my color and cut. She said she could do it and that she wouldn't go too light with my hair color. I told her about my hair history so that she could decide if what I wanted could be done and she said it could be. She ended up completely damaging my hair! I have lots of tiny hairs now that are there because my hair broke off from the damage. The color was uneven and there were parts of my hair that were completely orange. She said that she couldn't lift the color at the top of my head and that I would have to come back in two weeks and pay $75 for her to do it again! She made my hair super light and it looked damaged and a greenish color! The haircut she gave me looked nothing like what I asked for and had no style at all. I had to contact her that night and ask her if she would fix what she did as I wasn't happy. I went in to next day to have her fix it and she said she could get my hair to look like the picture. She just basically ended up making my hair very dark and boring and again nothing like the picture. I made an appointment with another hair stylist and she said my hair looked nothing like what I asked for and that she damaged the crap out of my hair. My hairstylist was able to lift the color that Marwa said couldn't be lifted and that I need to come back in two weeks and pay $75! So Marwa just had no clue what the hell she was talking about and doesn't know how to do hair at all. My hairstylist pointed out how damaged my hair was from what Marwa did. Marwa also is terrible at styling hair. I literally had to wear a hat for the two days after she did my hair until I could get it fixed because my hair was so ugly. I contacted Marwa today asking her for a refund and she has not responded to a single one of my texts! Do not get your hair done by this hair criminal! She should not be allowed to touch anyone's hair! Update - she responded to my texts finally and was extremely rude me Response to Marwa's response: I see how you wrote BLACK BOX which is not true, I told you from the start that I used a glaze by Kristen Ess and it was not BLACK BOX color! I even showed you the box itself and all the ingredients in it so you knew from the beginning that I used a GLAZE. You never showed me a swatch of what color you were going to be able to lift my hair to because if you had shown me the color you lifted it to which was ORANGE then I would have never agreed to that as that's fucking ridiculous! You called it a color correction but the sad part was that my hair needed a color correction after what you did to it! I smiled and gritted my teeth the two times because I hate confrontation and what was I to do after you ruined my hair?! I even asked you the first time when you were drying my hair why the color was orange at every point in my hair at the root! You said oh it's supposed to be like that which was a complete lie as it's not supposed to be orange! Then the SECOND time you did my hair and you asked me if I liked the color when it was wet I said to you it still doesn't look like the picture, can you please do what it takes to make the color like in the picture as you promised. It takes a lot to make me have to come to this, as I hate confrontation but this is completely unacceptable what you did to my hair. After the second time of having you try to fix my hair I went to another hair stylist so I could show them what you did and get a second opinion from a PROFESSIONAL and she confirmed all my fears. You just lacked the skills to give me the right haircut and hair color! You said I should come back to get that orange that you couldn't lift lifted more in two weeks! The picture I showed you had face framing highlights so it makes no sense that you would leave my hair orange and think that was ok and then decide to just cover it up with a dark color when you lacked the skills to lift it. My hairstylist was easily able to lift the color because she is a PROFESSIONAL and knows what she is doing and it has nothing to do with you lifting it to orange. She did my hair after you had destroyed it without further damaging my hair because she is a PROFESSIONAL that knows what she is doing. I asked for you to refund my money as I had to pay not only to get my hair color redone but also my haircut as none of it was what I had asked for! You completely deceived me and you said you could give me the haircut and hair color I showed you! You never once said "I can't do that because you used the box glaze!" You claim that you want to make your customers happy yet you refuse to do the right thing and refund my money. All you care about is money and you are so desperate. Congratulations! You are a hair criminal and you won't be in business long with the way you conduct business. The owner, Marwa, is by far the best hair stylist I've ever had. She is always exceptionally accommodating, friendly, and genuine. When I arrive, she never fails to offer me water or coffee, and picks up conversations where we had left off from my previous visit. She's consistently on time, prepared for me by my appointment's schedule, and never rushes during my haircut. She seems to sincerely love and enjoy her profession, and her knowledge and skills are reflection of her passion for it. The studio is very well decorated and organized, and feels clean and inviting. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic she has made sure to thoroughly sanitize everything before allowing her next client to enter, and shows conscientiousness towards her clients' health by offering masks and hand sanitizer, as well as wearing a mask at all times and ensuring her clients wear theirs as well. On top of Marwa's courteous personality and beautiful studio, she is an exceptional hair stylist. The quality of my haircut is always consistent and well done, on top of which she offers great advice on hair care. Prior to restrictions due to COVID-19, she always did a great job with trimming and shaping my beard - she fearlessly wields a straight razor as confidently and steadily as a brain surgeon holds a scalpel. She moisturizes my skin before and after she uses a razor, so despite my sensitive skin around the back of my neck and around my throat under my beard, I've never gotten any razor burn, bumps, or cuts after a beard trimming/shape-up. I have seen a few women's hair cuts/stylings Marwa has done on Instagram and in person from clients she finished up before my appointment and I'm continuously impressed with her work.
