Following up on the superb kitchen cabinet remodel work that Next Level Custom Woodworking did for…read moreus a number of years ago, my wife and I recently commissioned them to reimagine our dated family room mantle and entertainment wall. The project scope included reengineering our old, stucco fireplace mantle and adding complementary wall paneling. The team also installed crown molding throughout our family room and kitchen spaces and new baseboard throughout our first floor. Using a single concept image that my wife and I had tucked away a while back, Brandon and his extremely talented carpentry specialist, Jesse, collaborated with us to adapt those design concepts to our family room and created a space with which we are extremely happy. We truly appreciated their frequent check-ins to align on design concept options for the finish work and their meticulous attention to detail throughout the project, which included the tireless efforts of painting specialist, Ted. We had long wanted this upgrade to our most frequently used space in our home and we are as happy with this project outcome as we were with the prior kitchen cabinet project. If you are looking for a creative and accomplished woodworking contractor to help bring your remodel visions to life, my wife and I strongly encourage you include Next Level Custom Woodworking in your bid list. We certainly will be using them again as we move to the next phase of our home remodel efforts in the coming months.

Brandon was very easy to communicate with over the phone and by text and he came to the house multiple times to verify measurements before the actual install. He also had us over at his shop to confirm materials and paint/stain color. Fun to see the working space and tools! Did not get any competing quotes but based on the scope of this custom build and what I know about craftsmanship hourly rates I think the price was a good value. We will definitely be contacting Brandon for future projects!

This is my very first Yelp review, and I truly felt this business deserved an excellent one. All…read morethe positive reviews you see are absolutely accurate. Professionalism: The team at Your Carpenter Friend was professional, meticulous, and clean, and they did an excellent job repairing dry rot around our home. They were so good that we've already recommended them to a couple of friends, and I hope they get the opportunity to work with them as well. Licensed: Yes Pricing: Pricing was reasonable and on par with other vendors we considered. Recommendation: Yes--100% recommend them. We plan to hire them again next year for additional work in the spring/summer, and I'll be happy to update this review then. Skill: They are truly skilled carpenters (Brendan, Zach, and Sam), which feels rare these days. While I don't do woodworking myself, I can certainly recognize and appreciate quality craftsmanship. In several areas, Zach and Sam came up with creative solutions to ensure water would not sit on the wood. They also discovered additional dry rot during the project and always consulted with us and obtained approval before proceeding. They worked non-stop--even in the cold! Work: I initially contacted Brendan for a mix of handyman work along with exterior dry rot repairs. He was honest and upfront about what could realistically be done during the dry season, so we decided to focus solely on the dry rot repairs. As it turned out, Brendan is a former termite inspector--perfect for anyone needing dry rot repair. They worked at our home for 3 days. There was one small area that wasn't painted on one side; once we brought it to his attention, Brendan came back the very next day to fix it. Their goal is clearly to make the customer happy, within reason. BTW -- he also does decks. Thank you, Brendan & Team!

Brendan came out to assess the project and provided a fair and detailed estimate within two days. He answered my questions clearly and honestly, and didn't try to upsell me on other potential work that I didn't ask for. Once I accepted his estimate, he scheduled the job in a very timely manner. He and his guys completed the job on schedule and on budget, which sadly seems like a rarity these days. I greatly appreciate Brendan's communication style and professionalism, as well as the high quality of the work he performed. I am planning another home exterior project next spring and would not hesitate to use this company for the carpentry work.

The team showed up on time, cleaned up each evening, was very polite and we are very happy with how everything turned out. They finished in a week as promised and their bid was fair. Overall, I like the paint job Barbour did of the interior of my home. The price was unbeatable and…read morethey were very accommodating of our schedule; we were home for one week of the job, and away for the second as the ceilings had to be scraped. The colors are fresh and I love how they patched cracks and caulked things in. I give them 3 stars for a few reasons. The first being the mess. Our house was EXTREMELY dusty with gypsum when we arrived home at the end of the project, even in the insides of closets that hadn't even been painted. It took us days to wash and wipe everything down, and we were sneezing and itching the whole time and had to wear masks. I was told that everything would be cleaned with Simple Green, so it was very disconcerting that it clearly wasn't. Even now, weeks later, you can bump a baseboard and white dust will fall off/out. We have green overspray on our light colored stamped concrete walkway and the exterior siding of the house around it, texture on the tops of ceiling fans and light switches, and paint drips on our interior wooden floors, which had been covered. It seems like while we were home they were very meticulous, but while we were gone they felt free to be sloppy and disregard our property and belongings. Second, they removed a ceiling fan at my request, which I appreciated, but we came home to it broken, with paint all over it, and found it sitting in the pouring rain on the porch. Needless to say, we had to purchase a new ceiling fan and are very bummed that the old one is no longer usable. Third, I was not pleased that my request for a change order was ignored. The estimator, Rodger, was great. Friendly, accommodating and promised me the world. Once I signed the contract, though, I never heard from him again. I had sent him a change order in writing two days after I signed and never heard back. I figured he maybe would tell the crew what I wanted. I felt like I had to hound the project manager about things that weren't done "correctly" because nobody ever acknowledged the change order. I even told him what I wanted more than once, and offered to pay extra to ensure they got done. But in the end I just gave up on getting everything I wanted.
