They did all that they could so that I solely could focus on my recovery. But It's currently 2026, so why am I writing this now? Let me explain. A year after my settlement was completed, I was getting mysterious calls for collections for my ambulance ride. However, the bill was never sent to me to verify the debt. Michael assured to me that the paperwork they sent was not the right paperwork to verify. But me being skeptical was still afraid and overly cautious because I'm a person who pays all his debts, and didn't want my credit score affected. So Michael suggested that he can hold some of the settlement money as a "just in case" fund until the statutes of limitations expire. I think I can say that for any normal person, this would also seem to be a kind of sticky situation to take on as an alternative, right? Because this agreement requires trust. But in the end his team wrote a contract and I agreed and signed to hold the money. Now to why I'm writing this now; it has been years past since the settlement. To the point where I forgot the statute of limitations timeline. I was contacted by Michael late December of 2025 to schedule an appointment first week after the new year. Rebecca Padilla worked diligently with me from my first meeting with her in 2019 (I think). I had already been denied SSDI benefits twice when applying directly to SSA. Before signing, we were given the impression that his case would receive the attention and dedication it needed. Unfortunately, after becoming a client, it felt like communication and follow-through were no longer a priority. My husband repeatedly tried to contact him, but getting a response was very difficult, despite Michael having multiple phone numbers. When my husband was finally able to speak with him, he often felt that he was being given the runaround rather than receiving clear answers or meaningful updates about his case. We were also extremely frustrated by the lack of progress. It became so difficult to get basic information that my husband ultimately had to schedule his own medical appointments and communicate directly with doctors himself just to get answers regarding his medical care. After waiting over a year with little to no progress, we ultimately made the decision to terminate our relationship with this attorney and look for someone who would actually prioritize our case, communicate with us, and fight for the medical care my husband needed.
