I had a much better experience at Omega than at the last emergency vet clinic we went to. The waiting area feels recently remodeled and was comfortable to wait in. I was there for about an hour and a half before my pup was seen, so it was nice to have a comfortable seating area and access to WiFi. The employees that I interacted with were all quite nice. They were thorough in explaining the costs upfront, and were also helpful in getting me what I needed for processing a pet insurance claim. They took care of my pup from what I could tell, though they ended up holding her for much longer than originally estimated because other emergencies kept delaying her care (which is understandable). Overall would likely return in the event of other pet emergencies. read more

After an absolutely horrendous experience at Lenity next door (see my review there), we brought our injured pup to Omega Veterinary Group--which was an immediate 180-degree difference. The staff and doctors at Omega were attentive, precise, and genuinely caring. They gave us a proper treatment plan for his broken leg, created a custom sized splint that wouldn't immobilize his entire leg, boarded him for the weekend to manage his pain with stronger meds, and then performed a minimally invasive surgery on him that allowed him to heal without a cast!! They called us multiple times each day to give us an update on our pup and we felt so relieved he was in Omega's care. After only a couple weeks post-surgery, our puppy didn't even act like he had a broken leg! If anything, we had to actively manage his puppy energy level so he could heal completely. Dr. Dorrie Black was incredible, she's probably the best geriatric vet in the Bay Area and the other vets know it. She gave my cat Jesse James 2 more years of life. No one cared in San Francisco. I couldn't even get an appointment or help from several clinics - just too busy. My poor cat had chronic IBD and Dr. Black specializes in geriactric care for older cats. She prescribed him the right drugs because we got the IBD under control within a month. In 2 months he had gained back a pound. In 3 months he had gained back two pounds. In 6 months he was his normal weight, which was 14 pounds. A lot of us that live in SF feel like we live in a dog park when it comes to vets - everything is for dogs, not cats. The vets are also in high demand, very expensive, they know that they have us over a barrel, and so we get stuck with indifferent receptionists, a revolving door of different vets, techs that won't answer questions over the phone and insist you "make an appointment" when they could just try and determine if an appointment is even necessary. and just plain highway robbery when it comes to prices. We get sick of it. That is why I drove 30 minutes to San Mateo from San Francisco to get to a great doctor, Dr. Dorrie Black. I will forever be grateful to the entire staff at Omega Veterinary Services. My wonderful cat did die after 2 years due to cancer (he was 16), and the staff sent me a lovely card, signed by all. My dog has a habit of leaning against my leg whenever he gets nervous, and he did the same thing here. What I noticed was how normal the whole interaction felt despite that. There wasn't a lot of fuss around him, and I didn't feel like I had to constantly explain or manage his behavior. That made the visit easier on me too. read more

Been here twice now for two separate dogs. 1st time our dog was vomiting nonstop so we were concerned of pancreatitis since she has a history of EPI. All was well, vitals stable and she was given an anti vomiting med there and zofran for home. Second time around our other senior dog had syncope episodes and Dr. King was so caring throughout the process. He made time to discuss the labs and exams that were being done and to update us. We were eventually referred to UC Davis for higher level of care since Omega does not have any cardiologist, but it was the right decision and now my 13 year old gal is home with a pacemaker. read more

I have a pit/boxer rescue named Ducky who, at six years old, managed to tear both of his rear CCLs and required bilateral TPLO surgery. At first he only tore the left CCL so I was working with a great orthopedic vet in Pacifica in order to avoid surgery but then he tore the other one and it seemed that surgery was the way to go. I feel incredibly lucky that that vet (Ilana Strubel) recommended Dr. Jones and Omega Vets. She texted him about Ducky and he texted right back and I was in his office the next morning. Dr. Jones is so smart, so competent, so passionate about good medicine and so friendly that I just felt like Ducky had won the surgeon jackpot. I have not been a fan of the TPLO surgeries in the past but that was before my experience with Dr. Jones. I feel like I truly had the best of the best operating on my dog. Bilateral TPLO surgeries is a daunting journey that spans several months but Dr. Jones was just there for us through everything. He utilized a minimally invasive technique that made a profound difference in Ducky's recovery. On both knees, he cleaned out the meniscus via arthroscopic surgery and the incision for the TPLO is smaller that what I have seen on other dogs. I have heard and read that most dogs are still limping weeks post-op but Ducky was walking normally within just days of his procedures. The speed and quality of his healing are a direct testament to Dr. Jones's immense talent, intelligence, and competence. Did I mention how sweet and friendly Dr. Jones is? He really wanted to answer my questions, show me x-rays and talk about my dog. I am, as a rule, a skeptical person but I have to admit I really felt heard and informed by Dr. Jones. It is also incredibly refreshing to support Omega Vets. Knowing they are an independently owned local clinic--not beholden to private equity corporate standards--makes a massive difference in the quality of care you receive. That independent spirit shows in the entire team; every single member of the staff is deeply knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Jones and the entire crew at Omega Vets for giving Ducky his mobility and quality of life back. This is a specialty clinic that charges specialty rates and so I expect specialty treatment/service. They put me in a room to wait with my senior dog that has mobility issues but did not provide a good non-slip mat for my dog inside the room. Upon request they gave me this flimsy thing they would use for a cat or tiny dog that slips all over the place. Then after waiting 10-15 mins the nurse tech comes in for 5 mins and again we are just waiting in the room. Vet clinics are stressful for our pets and just sitting around waiting for the Dr after you already have an appointment is truly disappointing. If doctors are running 30 minutes or more late they should notify us well before our appointment so we are not left waiting. Neurologist Dr visit was ok. She prescribe some steroids said I should not stop it right away and follow a wean of plan for my dogs after a week my dog I felt was doing progressively worse so I called them then they say lower the medication to once a day then I called back to check with the doctor they say put it up to twice a day again to finish the week. and since then I've been trying to follow up and called 3 times and the dr has not called me back. Their follow up is really poor and is their recommendations on next steps. Each time I call them the doctor is always busy doing MRI and never available to return a call even after three days and I don't know if she's really in the MRI room or they're just telling me that because I told them I'm not interested in the MRI for my senior dog because I was not interested in any surgery. The dr also seemed to agree that because he was a senior dog the anesthesia for mRI may not be good for him. Wonder if they're not going to get any more revenue from me in that regard and that's why they Tony care to follow up or provide a continuation of a medical plan for pain management? They did send me a release summary with recommendation of PT daily but what about the pain management and if there is anything else or how to fill the prescription etc. so frustrating especially because they never return calls ever. I emailed them pictures of blood in my dogs urine and got zero response. Why would I trust the emergency clinic if their commitment to service has been so terrible so far. read more

I brought my cat to this hospital because he was limping after being startled by a loud noise and running behind furniture. Before the appointment, I explained that although he had initially not been eating, his appetite had already returned and was steadily improving. By the time of the visit, he was moving around again and was back to eating normally. The hospital noted that they did not observe clear signs of limping during the visit, but also mentioned he was not really walking around much, possibly due to anxiety in the clinic environment. Unfortunately, I felt that the staff did not listen to the information I provided or focus on the primary reason for the visit. Despite repeatedly explaining that his appetite had returned, the team remained focused on concerns about not eating, blood in the urine, lethargy, and a variety of serious conditions including infections, stones, tumors, and cancer. When I asked multiple times about the limp, I was told it was low on their list of concerns. I was presented with recommendations for extensive diagnostic testing, including lab work, urinalysis, and multiple X-rays, with estimates exceeding $2,000. Throughout the discussion, I felt significant emphasis was placed on worst-case scenarios, hospitalization, surgery, and the possibility that my cat's condition could become much more serious. While I understand that veterinarians must discuss potential concerns, I did not feel that my observations as the owner were being given appropriate consideration. I ultimately paid over $300+ for the consultation and fluid administration and left feeling that the original reason for my visit had not been adequately addressed. My frustration is not that diagnostic testing was offered, but that I felt unheard throughout the appointment and that the discussion focused more on expensive possibilities than the issue I brought my cat in to have evaluated. I hope the hospital reviews its approach to client communication and takes greater care to listen to pet owners' concerns and the information they provide. read more

If I could give ten stars, I would. My now 16 year old Fozzie who has IBD wouldn't still be alive, happy, and healthy as he is without Dr. Black's expert, loving care. Multiple vets at other practices in the city (where she was at the time) missed his condition, causing needless sufferIng. She is brilliant, thoughtful, persistent, patient, and realistic when it comes to the care of dogs with chronic illnesses. She is world class and works with research hospitals. Being a critical care vet is years of training beyond vet school. There is no vet I trust more. I followed Dr. Black from the city and would follow her anywhere. Good independent and insanely competent vets are hard to find with so many practices being bought up by private equity. My guess is some of these reviews are shills for the big money moving into vet care. Seriously- count yourself lucky if Dr Black is your vet. She has been treating Fozzie for SEVEN YEARS and is one of the most extraordinarily veterinarians (and people) you will ever meet. I drive from San Jose to stay with her. She's THAT good. I came to Omega Vet Hospital with a senior rescue cat in critical condition. I came here because three months ago, I brought a different cat and had an amazing experience with Dr Hunter and Richard (tech.) Clearly, PEOPLE do make all the difference. On this particular visit, the service did not meet my expectations. A tech named Wendy called us to a room. She never introduced herself and she appeared to be under the influence of some substance as her questions were spoken in monotone speech , she was matter-of-fact, and couldn't open her eyes! This tech never cared to interact with my cat once! I felt as if we were a burden Then, the doctor came in later and she was definitely upbeat. Dr Sanchez spoke so fast I couldn't get a question in. The thought crossed my mind this can't be the same hospital I came to earlier this year! I missed seeing Dr Hunter whom is so compassionate and takes time to answer your questions and Richard who is so knowledgeable and vested in your pet. When Gizmo needed not one but two hip replacement surgeries - four weeks apart - we were terrified. There's no other word for it. Watching your baby go through something that significant, twice, in the span of a month, is the kind of experience that tests you in ways you don't expect. Not in a going-through-the-motions way. In a way that made us feel like Gizmo mattered to him too. His compassion is the real thing. It's not a bedside manner - it's just who he is. He explained everything clearly, never rushed a single conversation, and made a genuinely terrifying experience feel manageable. You leave every appointment feeling held - like someone with extraordinary skill also happens to truly care about the creature in their hands. Both surgeries went beautifully. And we know that's because of the skill, yes - but also because of the care. Those two things don't always come together. With Dr. Jones, they do. Fraud alert ‼ I hate putting a business down but trying to charge over 13k for pyometra operation when at highest an emergency operation like that cost 5k tops its basically like spaying the dog with added antibiotics. Thank God spca saved my pockets and my dogs life, they really care for animals they are not on a mission to rob and take advantage of people. I gave spca a call and they said bring her within a hr and will do the operation and you could take her home a few hrs after. Spca did a great job and my german shepherd recovered fast on a non profit so i gave a good tip. This place needs to stop with the price gauging lot of people probably got con and payed. You guys need to fix that shady practices it's not right at all. As improving you need to be honest. I notice on the reviews you got other people saying you over charged them as well. You wont last long if continue doing that type of business. Hope this post wakes you up and humbles your greed, I ended up getting charged by omega vet $1100 for xrays I was telling them give me my dog back now im going spca and they were making delays they really wanted that 13k. My dog had surgery here with Dr Hudson just weeks after having a similar surgery at another hospital. It was so clear to me that Dr Hudson was the superior surgeon and I would 100% recommend him to anyone. My dog recovered 10x faster from the surgery he did vs the other hospital I went to and overall had a way easier recovery. My dog had TPLO SURGERY here on March 10th. We had our consultation the week prior. Our main vet recommended Sage and Omega as 2 places to get a consultation for my dogs leg. I made appts at both hospitals but Sage canceled on us last minute, which actually worked out in the long run. We met with Dr Caleb Hudson who is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive techniques. During our consultation, Dr. Hudson spent time examining my dog, discussing his findings and explaining the procedure necessary. He did not rush me to make a decision or push me towards surgery. He was transparent about costs. I felt so comfortable that I made the appt for surgery during our consultation appt. After the appt, I had a few questions based on my research and he called me back quickly and patiently answered all my questions. On the day of surgery, his entire team (from front desk, to intake, to surgery team) was caring, compassionate and patient. I felt comfortable handing over my dog for his surgery. This was so difficult to do and I was in tears after, but I know my dog was in good hands. Once surgery was over, the Dr gave me an update and allowed me a room where my dog could recover and wake up to me. I cannot recommend Dr. Hudson and the Omega Veterinary Group enough. All members of this practice are genuinely caring. I kept saying whoever is doing the hiring at that practice is doing a Fantastic Job because every single person i came in contact with was exceptional. Dr. Audrey Hudson and Dr. Caleb Hudson at Omega are highly skilled specialists at the top of their game and went above and beyond standard protocols to address my dog's atypical case, which required many hours of a two-phased surgery. During the entire process, the communication was timely and detailed. Both took the time to provide updates and to answer ALL of my detailed questions every step of the way, whether it was about the prognosis and procedures, or pathology reports. Dr. Caleb Hudson even called me during surgery to explain a complication and how he could address it, and what steps would be taken. Handling this complication added over an hour of additional surgical time, but I was not billed one cent over the original estimate. This was extraordinary. What's more, during post op, when I had a concern, they both kindly did a FaceTime consult with me off hours on a holiday weekend while they were traveling! The level of care and commitment was remarkable. I love that this place is independent, so that care is more individualized and personal--not formulaic like the factory-style clinics owned and operated by big corporations. I felt as if I had my own concierge vet team. What a difference it made! My dog is on his way to full recovery, and he could not have been in more capable hands. The vet told me she didn't have time to listen to my concerns "again" regarding my dog's health because she was too busy with other patients. I did not realize she was the same vet I had talked to earlier on the phone. I apologized for taking up so much of her time. I just felt that if she was going to charge me over $6000-$8000 to test my dog, my concerns should be heard no matter how many times I felt the need to talk about my dog's health. This was at 7 PM and I had dropped my dog off at 2:30 in the afternoon. I guess she didn't realize we had already been to our regular vet at 10 o'clock that morning so this had been a whole day adventure for us. She was trying to tell me my dog's diagnosis could be issues that our primary vet had already ruled out. I'm not sure she even read our vet's notes before bringing our dog to this hospital. The vet was very rude and unprofessional and we will be going to a different hospital if our dog needs care. Have compassion for your customers or find another job. read more

They were gentle and compassionate with our elderly cat that was hospitalized for a few days and allowing us to visit at any hour. First visit with Dr. Sergeeff a few weeks ago for my senior dog who needs an Internal med specialist for his various health issues that his regular vet cannot see him for. Originally at Lenity (next door) and was happy with them until their Internal Med person left. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience so for with Omega. From every time they answer the phone (always friendly and pleasant), to check in, to the actual visit. Dr. Sergeeff had actually read his chart that I had sent over (this rarely happens) and had the right questions and recommendations for me. I felt very confident in her experience and professionalism. I know others have complained about the cost but anywhere you go for ER or Specialty care is going to cost more then your average vet. I will not go to some other ER/Specialty Vets due to very bad experiences myself (not due to cost but lack of professionalism) but I did not experience that here. read more

Worst vet ever. Don't bring your dog here. Very rude and try to take advantage of people in emergency situations. They tried to charge me $18,000 to keep my dog overnight without any explanation of what was even wrong with my dog. Once they found out where I lived they figured I was rich and wanted to take advantage of it. I highly recommend to not come here!! On top of it all they are very rude and not helpful. My visit with my 16-year-old dog around 1 a.m. resulted in a disappointing experience. The attending DVM Julie Damron (purple hair veterinarian ) seemed unprofessional and lacked empathy. Damron, repeatedly stated 'will come back to that' after presenting potential diagnoses. Yet she couldn't tell me exactly what my dog needed during this conversation. Damron also appeared judgmental when discussing the dog's needs. This was unsettling during a stressful time. After the exam, the front desk coordinator, Alex, presented a quote for $900 for a series of tests, including blood work and a marijuana test. I stated no one in the household uses marijuana, but the tests were still pushed aggressively. The tests and recommendations seemed excessive, therefore i declined it all because it didn't seem right they were not listening to my concerns all they cared for was the payment. Alex stated i needed to sign a "against medical advice consent form" (AMA) which i had no problem doing so since they made this whole experience unsettling. After the refusal form was signed and the $195 exam fee was paid, Alex's attitude became noticeably annoyed and dismissive. Ultimately, my dog did not need the recommended treatments they were pushing. My dog was seen by another veterinarian elsewhere & with only the exam diagnoses, she told me that he had minor arthritis which is why he was leaning a bit, she advised to take him on more walks & that it was a normal condition for dogs his age. Now my dog is doing much better within a day difference. The experience at Omega left the impression that the practice prioritizes high-cost procedures over the well-being of the animals, especially when clients are in a vulnerable state. For pet owners, i recommended to seek care elsewhere, consult a family vet, or research home remedies. read more
