The front desk staff is rude and treats you like you're bothering them. The vets are ok if you're just getting regular check ups and vaccines. If something is wrong with your pet don't bring them here. They just keep telling you to bring them back in, only for them to not do anything for you and send you to another vet. Overall terrible experience. read more

If you want to find a veterinarian office that will have your dog's best interest at heart and have some compassion for you, the owner, this is not the place to go. They should be accepting new patients because they just lost one. I was told to bring my dog in for an x-ray so the dr could squeeze one in between his appointments. There was no window of time the office could give me- just drop him off and he will be x rayed at some point during the day. After giving it some thought I decided I was not comfortable leaving him there. While on the phone with them exasperated and in tears given what they had put my dog through the last few days the front desk staff had the audacity to hang up on me through my tears. I get that it's above your pay grade to answer the questions I had but all they had to say was "I can ask the dr and get back to you." At no point did Dr. Sutter even pick up the phone to answer any of my questions it was all a big game of telephone with his front desk staff. And this is after he had prescribed some pain meds and antiobiotics that caused bloody stools in my dog. I am surprised that an office like this allows for such horrible bedside manner. read more

**This review is lengthy but please read** I adopted my dog nearly 7 years ago, and he had been under the care of Aragon Vet until he recently passed away, just 3 months shy of 12 years old. Throughout the years, we visited often for routine check-ups, allergy medication, and nail trimming. We never had any issues, so I continued taking him as a regular patient. However, during our last couple of visits, I noticed a significant decline in the front desk staff's attitude and customer service. They were rude when answering phone calls and basic questions. On one occasion, I called to inform them I would be 5 minutes late due to traffic, and the response I received was, "Next time, leave earlier." Despite this, I continued with the appointment because my dog was medicated for his appointment due to anxiety during nail trimming. A few months later, my dog began vomiting, including specks of blood. I called Aragon Vet, and they told me to bring him in. He was prescribed medication for nausea and sent home. Unfortunately, this was the start of a nightmare. Over the next 7 months, we made at least 10 visits to the vet for a persistent chronic cough. After the third visit, they conducted an X-ray but still sent us home with more medication and no clear answers. Each visit felt like my dog was being treated as an experiment, with different medications prescribed , instead of conducting more thorough examinations like a CT scan. At the time we trusted out vet, and were not aware of additional examination procedures. Despite reassurances that "It's not cancer, you don't have to worry," and claims that the X-rays only showed weakened lungs from a previous bronchitis diagnosis (made by a different vet), my dog's condition worsened. We eventually took him to the ER, where they suspected cancer. We were referred to SAGE, where he was diagnosed with lung cancer. By then, it was too late, and my dog was euthanized the following week. After his passing, I called Aragon Vet to discuss the timeline and why the cancer was not caught earlier. The front desk staff was once again unempathetic, showing no regard for the fact that my dog had been a patient for years. I eventually spoke to Dr. Sutter, who called me back to answer my questions and explain the timeline of my dog's visits. However, he was also insensitive, stating, "Regardless of what you would have done, THIS dog would have died of cancer in 2024," without offering any condolences. While Aragon Vet is adequate for routine check-ups, I strongly advise against bringing your pet here if they require more thorough care. The lack of empathy and proper diagnostics was profoundly disappointing during such a difficult time. read more

I had been taking my dog here for 8 years, ever since he was a puppy. He basically never had problems and we just did routine checkups and vaccines. For that, it was fine. However around 6 months ago, my dog started having chronic diahrea issues and low protein. If your dog actually gets sick, this is not the place to go!! After doing antibiotics which didnt fix the problem, the vet recommended ultrasound and endoscopy. I trusted them, so we got the ultrasound along with a ton of other tests ( i ended up spending more than 5k over 6 months, although money wasn't the issue). The tests came back with no results, but his liver values skyrocketed. The last time we got blood work done, the vet called me at the end of the day, the results were not good. She recommended endoscopy which i wasnt totally comfortable with bc my dog is so small. I expressed my concern, and she made it sound like i didnt have a choice and was irritated. Being a worried dog parent, i asked if i could get a copy of the results, and she said she would send them the next day. The next day, i didnt get the results, so i called midday to remind them. At the end of the day, right before the office closed, i called them again since i wanted the copy before the day ended. Instead, i got an email banning me from the office. 8 years, and i got banned for asking for a copy of blood work that they already said they would send (and mayb not wanting to do endoscopy). Do not trust this place!! Anyway, im glad that happened, because i found a new vet who actually listened to my dogs problems and did research on it. The new vet put him on a food trial and new diet that fixed his 6 month long diahrea in a month, and his liver values are back to normal. read more

Wow! I only wanted to give this clinic a try because we recently moved to San Mateo. I will happily go back to Burlingame Pet Hospital any day of the week after the attitude than a short haired vet tech gave me for arriving a minute before scheduled. If anyone had provided an email, text alert, WHATEVER to inform me that I needed to arrive early, that would have been extremely helpful. I'm sorry that some of us do not work from home and instead have to juggle multiple responsibilities at their job, not being able to leave at the drop of a hat. I made this appointment two months in advance and received absolutely childish treatment for a protocol that no one told me about. Huh. Interesting. Get over yourselves, you aren't the only vet tech and I'm sure someone will be able to replace your tacky self. Also wasn't all about the staff I saw without a mask on. I am only giving you all two stars because I'm sure that trash bag of an employee doesn't represent the actual veterinarian. read more

Dr. Sutter & his staff are truly Godsent. Dr. Sutter is very kind, knowledgeable and thorough. He has been looking after our pets for quite some time now, and continues to amaze us with his skills. I have a pretty big pack at home, and they all are patients at this clinic. My kitten had a recent surgery with Dr. Sutter to have his injured eye removed. I felt very at ease knowing my little guy was in the best hands. I have another adult cat that has been Dr. Sutters patient for quite some time, and he always provides great care and recommendations during annual visits. Our two dogs also are quite nervous around people, but they absolutely love Dr. Sutter and his technicians. They are so loving and gentle to them, truly treating them as if they were their own pets. His staff is absolutely wonderful, and kind. All of my interactions with them have been positive, and supportive. I am so glad we found this clinic, and Dr. Sutter. Myself and several of my friends it turns out used to go to this place because the doctors were good but for some reason they have the nastiest front desk crew I've ever met. Abrupt, unfriendly and they act like they hate you and you are bothering them. I'm there for my pet , not them but if the doctor hasn't gotten good enough since to replace a nasty front desk crew then there's something wrong with the doctor's also. You can't have that kind of negative energy at a place where you take your babies to get good health care. Don't bring your negative energy around my pet and find another job if you don't like yours . read more

We have been going to Aragon clinic from 2008 to 2021. Steven Sutter was the only vet that we have used for treating our pets. Rocky, my Yorkshire terrier, was under his care since 2008 and had several surgeries that was performed by Steven Sutterand we totally trusted this vet with any advice he had given. But recently Rocky had his annual physical exam ,and Steven Sutter ordered tests of blood work,ultra sound and urine urinalysis twice in one month to find the cause of a chronic infection that Rocky had. Meanwhile, Steven Sutter prescribed antibiotics to be taken daily by Rocky. However, Rocky's health continued to decline so I emailed Steven Sutter several times to make an appointment and kept a message in his office to have him evaluate Rocky again and help Rocky with his health problems since Rocky had lost about one half of his weight and stopped eating, drinking water or walking on his own. But Steven Sutter never responded to us or offered any suggestions to help our suffering little 6 pounds Rocky. So we sought help by contacting another vet ,and were informed that Rocky had a bad kidney disease. I am writing this review so that other dog owners can avoid the same experience with their dogs that my dog suffered at the end of his life. read more

Tried to bring my cat here after being wait-listed for a few months. No reminder email sent at all and was treated like trash for not knowing that it required being early in to the appointment for paperwork that needed to be filled out. Had such a bad experience that our little fuzzy friend never got an appointment or made it out of the waiting room. Forgot to mention that besides being lectured by the front desk person, that no one, none, zip, zilch of the staff was wearing a mask. Highly recommend Dr. Sutter. Very caring vet and he follows up on my pup. Dr. Sutter is extremely responsive on emails as I have a million of questions when I am trying to find a specialist. He saves me another trip to the clinic just to talk to him. I am grateful for his professionalism and help! It might be a bit difficult to get a new patient appointment as they are very busy. Dr. Steve Sutter is a great caring doctor and I am so appreciative for the insightful expert care he has provided for our cat throughout years. For example, when our cat's thyroid was high, he recommended radioactive treatment and effectively helped us patiently through the decision making process by answering our questions and concerns. The procedure was a total success. What I like the most about Dr. Sutter besides his superb expertise, is that he is a great decision maker, a great communicator and very attentive in addressing our questions. His office is also very professional and courteous. A fantastic overall experience that is very beneficial for our cat's well being. read more

Two stars for the reputation that Dr. Sutter has from people I know that went to him for many years. But that's it -when I had a cat that had some really difficult health issues one day it became almost like an emergency. I called them because I had heard that they were good and close to me for swiftness and they didn't care that it was urgent! They said they were busy and wouldn't take her for two weeks!!!! They only cater to people that are already established, which I was completely prepared to do after this but won't call there again- I did not appreciate the lack of concern or the inability to help a serious issue. Now I go to Sage RWC where I can get almost anything done and there is no problem with urgent care 24 hours/day. What they don't do I can get done at North Peninsula Veterinary Specialists. Both a little more expensive but worth it! read more

Yet they won't see my dog because they are not taking new patients "due to shelter in place." Nothing in the shelter in place order prevents them from taking new canine patients (nor does the order prevent doctors from taking new human patients?). We started taking our dogs to Steve Sutter in the late 90's and followed him to Aragon. He and his other vets have provided our 5 dogs over the years with excellent care. Steve is a smart, warm guy and he hires the same. I will never forget the time I brought in our first dog, a Glen of Imaal Terrier whose blood line qualified her to contribute blood to a project at Cornell University to (successfully) develop a test for early diagnosis of Progressive Retinal Atrophy. Way overdue posting a review. I have been bringing my pet cats here for probably over 30 years now when it was just Dr. Herbert running the business. Dr. Sutter replaced him and hired a couple other vets along the way like Dr. Michelle who is also wonderful. Dr. Sutter is brilliant and literally saved my cat Pumpkin a couple times and she's 13 now. The supporting staff are super friendly and love the animals as much as we the owners do. read more

Dr. Michelle Walsh came highly recommended by two people so I gave it a shot and I love her!!! She's sooo easy to talk to and really gets to the heart of things. I know she is a complete animal lover. My kitty was recently diagnosed with fatty liver disease (hepadic lipidosis) through VMS. I gave Dr. Walsh all of his information and I know my kitty is in the best hands. The office is separated by two waiting rooms - one for cats and one for dogs. Perfect for your scared canines or felines. I've never had to wait long either. I didn't realize how important it is to find a great and friendly vet, now I do. Thank you!!! read more

We have been bringing our beautiful chocolate lab to this clinic for 2 yrs. Dr Sutter and the vets have always been great with Bear. Here's where things get sticky. I called to get a copy of my last invoice to see what we were charged for. We had an appointment for a nail trim which our teenager was to take our dog to after school as I was out of town helping our daughter prepare for evacuation due to fires. Our son's car broke down on his way home and he never made it to the appointment. I called to explain what had happened and apologized. Upon reviewing the invoice I noticed they charged me $60 for a "missed appointment" not only was that completely unreasonable being that a nail trim is $27 but it was completely ruthless!! I run a small business and have had clients have emergency situations like this and I would never charge them. It was a 5-10 min appointment max and a $27 nail trim we missed due to extenuating circumstances and yet they had no trouble gouging us for $60!! It caused them no harm. They are typically running late as it is, so if anything it alleviated some stress to have an extra 5-10 min. It would have been somewhat acceptable if they had charged us for what we would have received $27 nail trim. I'm hopeful they will do the right thing after crediting back our credit card or at least credit back $33 and only charge for the nail trim. We will see if they have any integrity. If so, I would be willing to write again and let ya'll know. read more

My cat needed emergency surgery. They were able to get him in and give home great care. The prices didn't hurt us quite as badly as when the cat did the same thing a few months later and we took our cat to Sage. That hurt us as much as it did the cat. read more

Echoing here what so many have before me, and what has sadly not changed even throughout what I see is many years of complaints. Front desk staff make the experience here dreadful. Doctors are wonderful but the front desk staff is rude and uncaring. Brought my sick dog in as soon as it opened and didn't hear back from them for 5 hours. I called twice in between for an update and was in contact with a different front desk woman each time, and both ladies were extremely rude. They had no compassion for my sick dog and made me feel like a nuisance for wanting an update on my dog. The interactions were extremely disheartening. Dr. Sutter is wonderful and he does a fantastic job caring for my dogs. But I definitely can't stand the treatment from the front desk. Next time in an emergency I will 100% go to a hospital instead. read more

Had the worst experience. Really bad customer service. They made a mistake when booking my cat by not putting down it was the 1st time they were seeing him and when I arrived they made me feel like it was my mistake. They said they couldn't see my sick cat and I should go somewhere that took walk ins. Nice customer service when it was their error. Will not be bringing my other cat back to Aragon. Both Sage and Adobe were amazing and great front desk and veterinary care. read more

We've taken our dog and cat to Aragon for over a year now, but after today, I got copies of our records and will NEVER be going back there again. Our previous visits to Aragon were okay (certainly nothing to write a positive review about)... but recently, our dog got bit at the dog park, and was bleeding from 2 punctures on her snout. I immediately took her to Aragon, thinking it was a safe/welcoming place to take my injured baby. I was quite concerned for my dog, after the scuffle at the park. When I told the receptionist that I didn't have an appointment but my dog had been bit and was bleeding, she asked, in a very rude/cold tone, "Well, are you a customer??" I said yes. (not sure why that would matter?) She told me to take a seat and the vet was finishing up another appointment. After a couple minutes, I stood up and walked to the desk. Another receptionist/vet tech made eye contact with me, but didn't even crack a smile to greet me... nonetheless ask how she could help me. I politely asked when she thought we could be seen, to get an idea of time (since my dog was bleeding from the mouth... I felt a sense of urgency). She said 15-20 minutes. I had to ask for a towel (they apparently didn't think to offer one) because by that time, our dog was dripping blood around the waiting room and I needed to dab it up. We will NOT be returning to Aragon. Their customer service and compassion is extremely lacking. There are plenty of other vets in the area that I would rather support. read more

I've been bringing my dogs here for 10 years - and the care they provide is consistently outstanding. I have 2 small rescue dogs (18 & 22 lbs) and the doctors are always clear and concise with what the problem is, and what can be done to fix it. Dr Walsh is our main vet, and Dr Sutter is our secondary. I've worked with Dr Kamak once - but wasn't thrilled - so I'd recommend Dr Walsh or Sutter as first choices. I trust their recommendations, and their feedback on my pets' health. I've noticed some of the negative reviews here talk about the front desk staff. I admit that at some times they can be brusque, but I can definitely overlook that since the level of care is what I need. read more
