Absolutely incredible food and staff. We went there for breakfast and they can serve anything any way you want. I had bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Best potatoes ever. My son had the Smoke Bomb sub and said it was to die for. My husband had a breakfast sandwich that was great. The owner is so nice and the restaurant and bathroom is clean. We will be back!

    Specialty Sandwiches Menu

Got take-out from On A Roll Deli on Sunday morning. I was not happy with the sandwiches I ordered, which were simply not constructed of quality ingredients. The bread was especially egregious. Quality: Since we were spending the day hiking, figured I would grab some sandwiches for a quick lunch on the way. I was surprised that so many places were closed on Sunday, but eventually found my way to On A Roll Deli. Maybe I made the wrong selections, though that should not be the case when I ordered off the specialty sandwich menu, but the two sandwiches I picked were not very good. I selected the Sicilian Combo with prosciutto, soppresetta, provolone, capicola, and roasted red peppers, and the Chicken Cutlet Delforno with chicken cutline, fontina cheese, capicola, and roasted red peppers. The problems started with the bread, both sandwiches I ordered were on subs. They were dense, dry, and the proportions were all wrong. Honestly, it was hard to tell if the sandwich was any good because eat bite was all bad bread. The Sicilian Combo seemed like a pretty standard sandwich, but could have used some vegetables thrown on, particularly lettuce, tomato, and onion to add some freshness and crunch. And the chicken cutlet on the Chicken Cutlet Delforno, had far too much breading, just intensifying the already bad proportions. Quantity: Large sandwiches, but mostly bread. Value: No prices are listed on the hanging above the counter, but most sandwiches fall between $10 and $14. Ambiance: On A Roll Deli is located in the small Upstate New York town of Highland, not far from Poughkeepsie. It is a massive sandwich shop, unnecessarily big in my opinion. They three tables outside, then a massive indoor space, which had just a few more tables. They then have a counter with a visible prep area, and a kitchen in the back. It was not a natural space, with the amount of fridges along the left wall laughable. I assume it was a gutted convenience store, and they haven't figured out how to use the space yet. Crowd: Just one other person grabbing a breakfast sandwich and coffee. Service: The guys behind the counter were fairly quick putting together my sandwiches. Parking: Private parking lot in front of the store.

We decided to take out for a movie night at home. My Wife went for the recommended chicken bacon ranch slices, and a few slices of their Pomo' Doro Creation. For myself chicken tenders and fries and a Peanut Butter, chocolate Pie. The dessert was sooooo good y'all, perfect creamy texture, with fluffy topping. I loved it! My Wife and I really enjoyed the slices. The addition of ranch married well with the thin crust, salty bacon and seasoned chicken. We were also impressed by the crispy tenders, and fresh fries. Parking out front on the street or in Pomo Doro's parking lot. A few bottled wines and beers. Pepsi soda products and daily specials. Solid spot overall. Signed, The Happy Hour Huntress

Sal and Pots reminisced about the good old days including the numerous annual "game dinners", legendary for serving 150+ where people were lined up down the block waiting to eat elk, bear, rattlesnake, muskrat, squirrel, skunk, and the like. Alas, those days are over, a victim of COVID and changing tastes. As for me, I've never eaten skunk. Nowadays, I just hang out with one. Enough chit chat. Menu, for a bar, is pretty diverse. "The Skunk" had said the burgers were excellent, so I ordered "the Cowboy" - bbq sauce, bacon, cheese, fried onions ... and crispy fries. "The Skunk" had the rib eye sandwich w a garden salad. We washed everything down with several $3 pints of bud. He raved about his sandwich; my burger was very fresh and perfectly cooked, served on a brioche bun. Fries were also nice and crispy. To top it off, there was Christa, our excellent server / beermonger. Prices reasonable, bathrooms clean, food very excellent, beer is cold - what more do you want in a local bar? Oh, yeah, "Let's go Mets!"
