All I ask from my sons is that they put in the effort and improve just a little more every time they come to class. We've seen those small improvements that end up being big improvements when added altogether. Overall very happy with Roots. Impressed how much you can get for the price - and we only go to the Muay Thai classes. The only downsides I can think of is - Limited parking - Pretty crowded classes (but not overly) - very small entryway. Hard to get in and out But those are all negligible tbh.

Before Roots, we spent several years at another gym, but when it shut down due to Covid, we decided to give Roots a try--and it turned out to be the best thing that came out of the pandemic. Roots is more than just a gym; it's a family-friendly environment where both adults and youth can learn authentic Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, all under one roof. The coaches here are phenomenal--highly skilled, knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about martial arts. They provide structured material and a clear path for learning, making it easy to see consistent progress whether you're a beginner or experienced. One of the things we love most is how inclusive the gym is. Whether you're single or have a family, Roots has a place for you. For us, it's been incredible watching our youngest son thrive. He's not only learning the true discipline of martial arts but also gaining confidence, focus, and life skills that will stay with him forever. If you're looking for a gym where you'll feel supported, challenged, and welcomed, Roots is it. We're so grateful we found this place--it's truly one of the best decisions we've made as a family!

I've been to three different kickboxing/ mma gyms in Hayward but I really wanted to focus on real boxing. Despite the name, thats what US Karate & Boxing offers. Ive been training here for almost 3 years now and I can honestly say it has helped shape me into a more confident and healthy person. All thanks to Coach Joe and his son Coach Caleb. They have taught me so much and have helped me improve since the first day I walked in. They prioritize technique and take time to focus on everyone. They have different time slots for different skill levels, so you never feel overwhelmed. Each class usually consists of warm up, conditioning, drills, then light sparring but sparring is optional if you only want to work out. There are currently two amateur fighters, in the gym so if you're looking to compete then look no further. A membership includes two classes a week, and access to the gym outside of your training sessions. They have a ring, heavy bags, and a squat rack. It is a pretty small facility but its perfect if you don't care about the latest training equipment and want that old school boxing gym vibe. Training at US Karate & Boxing has easily been one of the best choices I've made, and I will continue to train here for the foreseeable future.

Personally, I've been coming in here for to get fit again, and to rehab my knee. The work with Rob to get my knee health back has been great. He's shown me more care in my recovery compared to the doctor's office I'm currently with. I've seen quicker more efficient improvements since I started working with him. He has put emphasis on my health over anything, over any excuse I could throw at him. With that being said it's all because of the owner Eric putting together a great team that makes you feel at home here. Talk to them, or any of the coaches, and they'll make you feel like family!

Unfortunately, one of the staff members -- a heavier-set guy with glasses -- came across as rude and dismissive toward me, which made the experience uncomfortable. As a beginner, first impressions matter a lot, and instead of feeling welcomed I felt talked down to. The head coach himself seemed respectful, which is why I'm leaving this review honestly instead of just writing the whole gym off. I just think new people should be treated with more patience and respect, especially when they're stepping out of their comfort zone to try something new.

The trainer let me in, instructed me where to put my stuff, had me fill out some forms, and gave an overview of what to expect. I honestly did not know what to expect when I first arrived, but I was not expected to jump into the workout immediately. He explained what to expect in less than three minutes. I was given maybe less than a minute to stretch and get ready before my first round was up. It was nice to be able to see the workout on the screen and get some help from the trainer when needed. The staff was really nice and gave me tips when I hit the kickboxing rounds. I learned that you could drop in whenever you wanted, and there weren't structured times or appointments required since all of the workouts were on the screens. I found that I enjoy workout classes that have an actual instructor more so it wasn't for me.

It was hard but my lungs feel like they expanded after I did the workout. I liked circuits even if it was hard. Instructors on the TV at each round. It's quick and easy. The in person trainer was courteous when instructing me on exercises, kept me safe during punches and kicks, and answered my questions on boxing gloves. 3 other adults came after me and the other 2 in front of me exited the gym after their workout. I am shopping for gyms to keep a work life balance during the winter season. So 9round was first on my list. I found this place through classpass and enjoyed my experience.

I had no background in CrossFit or weightlifting and felt completely new to it all, but they explained the basics clearly, kept things motivating, and often stepped in to correct form so we built the right foundation. That gave me confidence and made the classes something I looked forward to instead of dreaded. Over time, I enjoyed Boot Camp so much that I moved into CrossFit. I'm still a beginner in CrossFit and probably will be for a while but my weight loss has accelerated since making the switch, and I've started feeling stronger, healthier, and more positive overall. So far, I've had classes with seven different coaches plus Brad, the owner, and every one of them has been dedicated, approachable, and engaged. Each coach has their own style, which makes it fun you pick up something new in every session. Brad himself is humble and very committed to building the kind of community that makes people want to keep coming back. The best part of this gym is the great community of coaches n people. It's full of people who push themselves, encourage each other, and make the hard work enjoyable. If you're looking for a place that challenges you but also supports you, CrossFit One World is it. Joining here has been one of the best decisions for my health and well-being.
