This is a really nice consignment store. Obviously the prices are higher than at a thrift store, but most are not outrageous. My friend that was with me found two really nice pairs of winter boots at a good price, which she was looking for. On the furniture and home decor side, I found a couple of cute seasonal decor things at a good price and my friend also found some things for her new home. My family has really loved this place. We really like their new location. They always have a good selection available both for home and woman's clothing. I wish they had clothing for men, but can't really rate on what they don't have. I did put the review at 4 stars because most often when I have come I don't get great service. I'm a regular consignment shopper and love being able find unique well-cared for items. This store did not let me down. It has an apparel and households location, in same shopping center. Both stores are clean, bright and friendly staffed. I was traveling through the town visiting family when I stumbled across these shops and was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the brands and quantities of choices of treasures to choose from. I'll definitely recommend anyone looking for designer items at reasonably after-retail priced i to shop both the apparel and household locations. read more

Interesting dynamic at this business; somewhere between picky/rude and inconvenient. They are VERY discerning about they select and that's not such a bad thing but when you bring in high-end garments and they pass them over it's really confusing. They will only take consignment items in a 4-hour window in the middle of day; most people work during these hours and that in itself makes in really inconvenient. They seem to be busy and that's great but the cons outweigh the pros. Good luck!! read more

I live in the Lynchburg area and enjoy consignment stores - both consigning and buying. On Second Thought has a lovely store, nicely displayed, clothing and items are clean and (usually) in decent condition. But the service is absolutely the WORST. Staff are RUDE, give disapproving looks and act as if it's a terrible inconvenience if asked a question. It is also very baffling with some of the clothing hanging on the rack (low end brands, some slightly worn or outdated) and yet they don't take new clothing I took in still with tags (and purchased within the last few months). In fact, they left the clothing I brought in in a rolled ball on the counter (with hangers) and didn't even offer me an explanation or say a word to me when I asked if they were done with my clothes - the clerk shook her head and spun around, ignoring me. I was there this week and noticed I wasn't the only customer they treated badly....I hung out a bit to observe the staff treat other customers badly - not only rude, but degrading. And interestingly, the store had quite a few customers (I counted 8) and not one person made a purchase during my visit. The store was really FULL and appeared overstocked (they even had a 60% rack out front on the sidewalk).....might not be the clothing choices that are not selling - it might be the atmosphere in the store and the terrible staff destroying a good business. Several other consignment store in the area with a MUCH better experience - both selling and buying. read more

I visited on second thought with my grandma and mom for the first time a couple of week ago and I was very impressed. We looked through all of their clothing racks and found so many cute tops that were very reasonably priced. The clothes don't seem to be too worn. I recommend this store!! read more

If an item does not sell and they are not able to locate it in their inventory when time to pickup then you are out of that item. They will not reimburse you for their error. If an item sells in perfect condition to a customer and then is later returned broken, they accept it back and return it to you broken. read more
