Be very careful and do your research before signing up for MONAT! The owner Des will try to persuade you to sign up for a membership to start selling the products when it is an absolutely pyramid scheme and scam! DO. YOUR. RESEARCH. Look Monat up on YouTube and google and see how many lawsuits and complaints there have been against losing hair and thinning hair! It's better to be safe than sorry and stay away from the product completely instead of learning the hard way! I made an appointment over the phone to come see Des for a weave and cut. This was the first time she mentioned the great products she has for my hair but didn't mention the name. I first heard of Monat from a Pilates instructor but she was briefly telling the class what she uses for her hair and didn't try to sell it (which you shouldn't do as a Pilates instructor anyway). I never researched Monat before coming to Des otherwise I would've been able to tell her I wasn't interested from the get-go. Anyway, back to my visit with Des at OTB - Monat is 95% of what we talked about during my visit. Instead of being able to talk about other things, it was all about Monat, and each break Des got from my hair she was eager to get online and start adding products to my cart. Yes, I expressed interest but this was before I did any of my own research. And again, this is how selling a product works - it becomes about signing up a new member to your team so you can benefit as well. WAY different than just selling a product after your visit is complete on your way out to pay. Important note is that Des is getting rid of ALL her non-Monat products that are currently in the salon to get rid of them and make way for MONAT only. This means all future customers will be sucked into Monat and won't be able to buy anything else. She says below she offered me 60% off these products she's getting rid of which is true, but also talked down about them. I was interested in a tube of Dermalogica SPF and was ready to purchase but she had to show me the Monat equivalent first and how that one is so much better. But I stuck to my guns and got the dirt cheap Derm brand instead, which I've used before. Yes, I purchased the Monat travel kit because it was basically thrown at me and added into my total and again, wasn't able to research first. She had it there at the salon to buy, not in an online cart that I was able to say no to later. The online cart she was putting together with my hair products wasn't even working for her on her phone and she said she'd have to do it later which I said was perfectly fine because I wanted to research first anyway and not have to purchase them then and there. But she took it a step further by having her husband bring her her laptop so she could get it to me as fast as possible - that's how desperate these sales people are for Monat, they want to get you signed up ASAP. She also told me she wouldn't be following up with me about my signing up like a pressuring sales person but it still ended up feeling that way. After sending me my cart that night, she sent a follow up email to thank me for coming in and trying the products which was fine. I replied to her email the following morning with a long email expressing my distaste for the Monat company after watching youtube videos (from vloggers AND news stories) and reading articles. Well, she didn't see this email but she did continue to follow up with me via text (attached). If this isn't a total sales scheme I don't know what is. Even my friend agreed she was being relentless (mainly because my entire appointment was ALL ABOUT MONAT and how great it is). Bottom line: If you want to go get a salon service done by Des, KNOW about Monat first so that you can decline from the get-go if you don't believe in it like me. I honestly don't know who would want to get in a tangled mess of online sales JUST for some hair and skin care! To sign up you have to pay a fee of $20, then you get new products shipped to you on a routine basis and charged for them - it's like a contract! Who needs that much hair and skin care?! I buy products maybe twice a year at most! THEN you are pressured to sell it yourself and lie about how great it is just so you can be benefited. It's a huge mess for some products not even sold in stores. Anyway, glad I could be the guinea pig on this after the salon reopened to share my story and educate others who read this before making or going to their appointment. read more

I had long, thick hair and it was beginning to feel too heavy and like a fur! I really wanted to cut it short for summer but was nervous to go with someone new. After Joe (a filtered reviewer, yes... she's great with men's cuts too!) introduced me to her at the last salon she worked at, I immediately stopped struggling with other stylists. My biggest problem with getting my hair done is that I can never describe exactly what I want and if I try I always feel like I'm too picky. For me it's either I let the stylist do their thing or I tell them EXACTLY what to do (and thats no fun). With Veronica I just tell her "I need more volume" or "a little darker/lighter" and she works her magic. She knows exactly what to do with MY hair and MY shape, and that's been the case from the very start. She hasn't had to "learn" my likes or dislikes, she's just nailed it from the start. I've gone from light to dark and dark to light, cuts to trims, partials, full colors, crowns, and it always looks better than I imagined going in. I feel like a million freaking dollars walking out of there. She's even there when I want to experiment! I wont go edgy without her doing it! She took me to light light blonde when I felt ultra experimental. It looked amazing but my boyfriend couldn't take the barbie look so guess what... she even adjusted it the next day to get it the perfect shade for him! I know I know, it's MY hair, BUT he looks at me every day so I want to make sure I look sexy, even when I'm edgy! Veronica did that for me. A note about being in a salon for an extended amount of time... getting your hair done is like getting your nails done. You often feel like you have to hold a conversation or you're put on the spot with people. 1-3 hour hair appointments can be painful if you're not comfortable! That is not the case with Veronica. Sometimes we chat it up, sometimes I get lost in a book, or sometimes both. Either way I'm super comfortable and she makes me feel very very relaxed. Hands down, she's the best. This review is for Janine, a stylist at this salon. I came to Janine to have my hair bleached blonde from a dark natural brown color. To say she did an amazing job is an understatement. Most people ask me if it's natural - No joke! After 3 years of her bleaching my hair, with her product advice and professional guidance, I still have very long, healthy, soft hair. Anyone who bleaches knows how damaging it can be and what you can look like if it's not done correctly... Janine is extremely knowledgable about hair care & products, and knew exactly how to take care of me to give me exactly what I wanted. She takes her time to make sure it's perfect. Janine's also got a great personality. When you spend that much time in a chair, you have to enjoy the person as well. I drive 20 miles to see her every month and I look forward to every visit. I have been doing my lashes with her for over 1 year, after going with another person o was iffy because my lashes broke off, but I gave Heather a try and I loved them, after a year I had to remove them because of allergies, and my lashes were still intact and long, as soon as allergies season if over u will be getting them again. I moved here less than a year ago, and have been on the hunt for a good salon. The first one I tried was just OK. So I looked at reviews and decided to try on the boulevard. Mistake. I called in and asked for a stylist that was good with color and cuts. I was given a very sweet girl, really chatty and easy to get along) I wanted to keep my length since I was growing my hair out. At this time it was about 5 inches past my shoulders. I told her that I wanted it to look like the ends have been slightly lightened by the sun. They call it balayage. And I showed her a few celebrity photos. I said that I wanted it to be super subtle. I showed her a photo of drew Barrymore and noted that I wanted my hair to be much less drastic, more natural. This stylist (s#1) proceeded to "paint from my ears down with bleach, then put foils over top. She must have used way to strong of a bleach because when she was done, it looked like I was wearing a little brown hat with bright orange hair coming out of it. From my ears down, in a straight hard line around my head she bleached my hair orange....S#1 said to me: " it did not turn out to be what you asked for but it's pretty Punk rock-- and I think you at punk rock!" . She even bleached part of my bangs on accident! I told her I didn't like it but I would sit on it for a day. To be sure that I was not just in shock from the change. I went to work the next day, and my boss had me leave to go right back to the salon! Now- here is the worst part. I showed up at 9am to either get my hair fixed or my money back and go somewhere else. S#1 was out of town (which was good because I dis not want her near my hair) So A more senior stylist (S#2) said she would fix my hair, at no charge AND get me my money back. So at this time she added an ashy toner, looked a bit green, but I thought it was temporary. She told me to come back on SAT, and that I would not leave until I had what I had asked for initially. Awesome-seemed like they were dealing with this professionally.I get there on SAT and S#2 just puts another chocolate color on my head and tried to even out the cut. I was there for maybe an hour. Then she said I would have to come back next SAT because she didnt have time to finish. OK--a little strange, but I went with it. My hair at this time was fried and still a bit green... I get a call a few days before the next appointment from S#2 telling me that I need to call and figure out the money thing with S#1. That because she offered to fix my hair, it made S#1 think she was taking her client..(Are you kidding me?!) AND that I should give her the money that S#1 gives to me. Wait-I thought she said I would get my hair fixed AND my money back no charge. I was planning on giving it to S#2 for fixing my hair- but thus was ridiculous. Even so, I made the call and left a message. S#1 never called back. Then a day before my appointment, S#2 calls me and tells me that she is going to charge me an additional 120 bucks to finish my hair. So of course I said no thanks and canceled my appointment. I tried to get the name and number of the owner of the salon but she would not give it to me. Finally,S#1 called me back and offered two free hair cuts. I said no thanks. I just want the name and number of the salon owner. She wouldn't give it to me, saying that the owner could do nothing. I then explained how the owner could, that it reflects negatively on the salon as a whole. so S#1 told me she would give me half of my money back. I said that was not good enough. She ended up giving me 100 of the 150 she charged me, and was not very professional about it. So now - my hair is fried, green and the cut is awful, and whatever was put in it- turned it green and made just my roots lighter. So I have three different color stripes of green and brown on my hair. I had to go to a Salon in Encino to get my hair fixed. I had to pay another 200. So girls, I would think twice before coming here. It was an awful and stressful experience. The people at the salon in Encino were floored when they saw my hair, it was THAT bad :( read more

REVIEW FOR JING, THE NEW MANICURIST. I LOVE getting Gel Manicures. One, I hate acrylics. I don't like how they feel on my fingers. Two, I can't maintain them because of where I work. (Okay, I dont HATE them, I'm jealous that I can't have them without them looking scruffly). Jealousy, Hate.. same difference. So I opt for the less abrasive, just as long lasting little sister of acrylic manicures. Gel. Jing came into my workplace (I work for a large printing company. Any Guesses?) to make a poster advertising a "New Manicurist" at On The Boulevard which just so happened to be herself. She caught a glimpse of my chipping manicure (after 14 days) & told me a little about herself and where she is now located. As soon as I was off at 5pm, I headed over to her. Jing is AMAZING. She isn't like any other manicurist in the area. She talked to me the entire time while doing meticulous work on my nails. I felt like I've known her forever. I asked how long she had been a nail tech.. OVER 15 YEARS. She does EVERYTHING under the nail art sun & charges just as much as anywhere else you can go, if not cheaper. She also offers 3D NAIL ART which is basically sculpting little designs on the nail using Acrylic powder and a small brush. She did a little bow on my nails. An ARTIST. Specs: -She is the only manicurist at this salon. I'd suggest making an appointment. -She will accept walk-ins, but I'm sure you will have to be willing to wait. -If using a card, she uses SQUARE UP (https://squareup.com/). Check the site to see how it works. VERY CONVENIENT & super secure! -She also does Pedicures. Gel Manicure: $30 3D Art: 2 nails for $10. She offers Paraffin Wax as well and all other basic services. I believe I came here for Deserie. I have long very thick hair and I like to keep it that way. But after several stylists who thinned it out on purpose, it was a long journey to get my hair to its "natural" state. Deserie was fantastic, loved how she listened to my story of my hair and really followed through. She has great chairside manner and I was satisfied both times I came for my hair cut. She cut my bangs to fit my face and her layers always grew out perfectly so it never looked like I needed another cut...it just looked like I was born fabulous! After every appointment she would go over my routine and how to manage my hair, all her tips are things that I still use to this day. I have also come before to see another stylist who isn't there anymore, but she was awesome too. Over all the customer service is great, and you're treated like a good friend who is a regular (even if you aren't) They also do student discounts and occasionally post deals on their website so I would check those out too! I was searching for a good hairstylist. I wasn't looking for just a hair cut. I searched the web and couldn't decide who to go to. I've been disappointed too many times. I text Desiree, and I am sooooo glad I did. I got exactly what I wanted. I first came to On the Boulevard before Christmas to have a trim and my highlights redone. My hair was done by Deserie (the owner) and I had an absolutely wonderful experience. She and everyone in the salon makes you feel so welcome and at home. It's a combination of a getaway to treat yourself mixed with a relaxed vibe where people are hanging out and having a good time. I came back after New Year's to have Deserie style my hair for a wedding. I wanted old Hollywood waves and she did such a lovely job with the style and the texture. I felt glamorous and my hair stayed perfect throughout a whole night of dancing. Shortly after I came back to get bangs cut. It had been a few years since I had them so I was nervous about the commitment and wasn't sure if I wanted blunt bangs. She knew exactly what I wanted and cut them in a way where I could choose to wear them or blend them with the rest of my hair. I later returned for an ombré. My hair has been a darker blonde and I wanted the bottom lighter like I've seen Lauren Conrad do to her hair. Once again I was completely satisfied with the results and was exactly what I had in mind. Deserie immediately gained my confidence when it comes to leaving my hair in her hands. She specializes in extensions, color, color corrections and making sure the hair doesn't get damaged during the process. She will go above and beyond for you to make sure your hair is healthy and looks great. Honestly I'm very confused as to the really negative reviews about this place. I've been there twice and gotten my hair cut, once seven months ago by Isis, and today again by Bella. Both times have been absolutely fantastic. Both stylists understood exactly what I wanted and continued to communicate throughout the appointment to make sure I was satisfied. Deserie helped me fix the mess I made of my hair, and I'm so happy with the result!! I had used a bunch of "semi-permanent" hair colors during quarantine, and I expected them to just wash right out. I didn't understand that even though they didn't use bleach, they could still permanently stain your hair. My hair was stained and brassy, and I thought it was never going to go away. Deserie put together a personalized 3 step kit for me to fix my hair, and I'm absolutely delighted by the results! She sent it to me, and I was able to do it all from the comfort of my home. It was easy! I was also worried that maybe my hair would feel dry afterwards because I have dry hair so I'm always afraid of new products, but it actually feels softer and healthier, I was really surprised! Finding Heather after the disappointing experiences with other lash technicians in town was a blessing! From the beginning, I being able to simply text her to get an appointment which was super convenient (not to mention she got me in the very next day). We all know that know-a-days brows and lashes are everything and with lashes: the fuller/longer the better! I was used to applying falsies on a daily basis but was struggling with the fact that they always felt so heavy and uncomfortable on my lids. The synthetic mink ones that Heather applies are super light and to be honest you barely notice they're on. They're fluttery and long and I always get compliments on them. I drive 30 miles just to get my hair cut here. Veronica is second to none in her skill, ability to work with my hectic schedule, and her willingness to do whatever it takes to make me satisfied with my haircut. I am very picky about who cuts my hair as I am a natural blond and most hairstylists end up leaving scissor marks in my golden locks, not Veronica however, she always helps me look my absolute best. I have not taken advantage of everything they have to offer at On The Boulevard but plan to as they are a full service salon and I trust them all completely. This review is for Bella. I followed Bella to this Salon after meeting her at another over 7 years ago. 7 years ago should tell you something. I get my hair cut and colored, we have tried a variety of styles for fun and I have never been disappointed. Bella has done my hair for my Wedding and now has started cutting my 1 year olds hair. She was very patient with him and the end result was fantastic....just as my hair has been for over the years. Bella is accomodating and pleasant and interested in how you feel about the way you look as this is her number one priority....your (my) satisfaction. Deserie the Owner is Wonderful!! I had to find a new stylist during Covid and knew other people who had a positive experience. I have naturally curly hair that can be frizzy and unruly with the wrong cut but she did not disappoint! I can honestly say the hair cut and color she did for me has given my hair a fabulous shape and has literally brought it back to life. She is so knowledgeable and very professional. I first checked out On the Boulevard when in dire need of getting my bangs cut on NYE. I read the reviews on Yelp and figured this place would work. I was lucky enough to get in the same day which was perfect! First, the staff is super friendly, and I like that they have a waiting area with coffee and tea. I got my bangs cut by Veronica. She was quick but very good. I decided to take a risk and schedule an actual cut a few weeks later I am totally glad I did. Veronica did an awesome job and after years of long hair I decided to go for a short bob. She was very professional, patient and I was very happy with my cut. I use to only get my hair cut in L.A. and I didn't think I would find a place in Camarillo that would compare but I was wrong! :) read more

This review is for Dona. She's awesome. I had gone to a few other stylist is Ventura and wasn't particularly happy. I randomly came upon Dona and then it was over. I loved loved my first cut with her. She is super friendly and out going and really accommodating to whatever you ask her for. She has quit a bit of experience under her belt and it totally shows. I recently went to visit her at Off the Boulevard and I got a cut and color. I left super happy. I left my hair in her hands and loved what she did! If your looking for a new stylist she is your girl. A note on the salon- the owner was super nice and gave me a whole tour of the place. She even took me outside and showed me the best places to park. There are a few parking spots in the front but Ventura blvd can busy so parking in the back is best. Why are you still reading this?
