I purchased a Groupon to this salon and I was somewhat hesitant going here seeing their Yelp ratings but still I wanted to go ahead and give it a try. I'm definitely happy with the service they provided. Melissa did my pedicure and manicure. She did a great job!!! So I had an appointment today for 5:30, I got there and waited for a bit to finish up her client. They I sat down and she started with my pedicure. I love their regular nail polish colors but when it comes to their gel colors. They only have a few selection. Nonetheless, I picked the color that I liked best and Melissa did them for me. I liked this place and I'm probably going to go back when I'm in the area. Besides nails, they also have hair stylist as well as threading and waxing. Oh dear. I purchased a groupon for 2 mani/ pedis. I called to schedule my first appointment. I asked for the earliest appointment of the day, and the person on the other end of the phone said that 9:30 would be best; it would insure that the technician would have time to get in on time & set up by 9:30. I got there to OtCE at 9:20, & the technician had not arrived. The person behind the desk had to call her to tell her I was waiting. I was told she would be there in 10 minutes. As I was waiting, another client left. Her stylist never showed up for her 9:00 appointment. Unfortunately, as I was waiting I began to read the other reviews on Yelp, which began to make me very nervous. I decided to leave at 9:50. As I was leaving, the other technician pointed out to me that the person that was supposed to work with me had arrived. Based on the wait time & the other reviews, I decided I wasn't going to risk it at OtCE. Funny but true note on this issue- although I was told my appointment was for 9:30, the books said 9:00. That suggests to me that this nail technician is so frequently late that they have to tell her that her clients are coming earlier than they are. Side note: as I waited, another woman that had a 9:00 appointment with a stylist left after waiting for 30 minutes. Wake up!! This is not the way to conduct business. WOW! I do not appreciate people not respecting my time, as I do my best to honor the time of others. BTW- the woman didn't bother to call me to apologize. I won't venture to try this salon again. This review is for the salon side of the business, relative to manicure/pedicure services provided by Melissa. I purchased two offers via Groupon - one "deluxe" m/p with gel nails for me, a basic package for my hubby. He had to attend to a maintenance emergency at home at the time of our appointment, so couldn't come along. Just as well. After my experience, I don't want him to go. I'll eat the $19 I paid for that offer. 1. The facility and business practices The trouble started before I even arrived. I called about a half hour before our appointments to let Melissa know it would be just me, not both of us. The place didn't open until the time of our appointments (11 a.m. on Sunday), but I wanted to leave a message so she could adjust her preparations. The answering machine didn't have a personalized greeting - it was still set on the default machine voice. Not sure if I got the right place, I hung up without leaving a message. I arrived a few minutes early and waited in the parking lot. Shortly after 11, there was still no activity, no "open" light. I called again, this time leaving a message: I'm here, where are you? At about 5 after, a young woman drove up and entered with a key through the barber shop side. A couple minutes later, the OPEN light came on and the salon door was opened. I went in, introduced myself, referencing the appointment and that it would just be me. She said ok, and said she needed a few minutes to get things set up. I asked if I could use the restroom. I was put-off by the fact that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned up from the business day before. The wastebasket was full of used paper towels, the fixtures and floor were not clean. When I came out of the restroom, Melissa asked me to be patient while she gathered hot water from the barber shop side, that their water heater was broken. I asked how long that had been, and she said since the day before. (I think it would have been a courtesy to call me the day before to let me know they had a facility issue, and offer to reschedule.) Melissa returned from the barber shop area carrying a plastic wastebasket filled with warm water. Um, I have to hope it was a clean bin. I should have left at that point, but stuck with it. She filled the pedicure basin with that water. There are two pedicure stations. On the unused one, there was a coffee cup placed upside down on the rim of the tub, as if it had been washed there. I don't know about health/safety laws much, but I don't think that would be an approved practice. Gross, at the very least. 2. Manicure/Pedicure services Overall, the pedicure was unsatisfactory. Melissa didn't trim my nails at all, just did some light filing. Didn't get to the corners at all. She kept her tools in a cabinet and took them out as she needed them. I couldn't see if they came from a clean container, or if there was evidence of their having been sterilized. She seemed to be unsure about the process it self, doing one step, moving on, then going back. Everything seemed to be tentative. I asked the difference between a standard and the deluxe pedicure. She answered that it had to do with the massage. She went up to just above the ankle, very little foot/toe massage, and again, very tentative. The manicure was also unsatisfactory. The cuticle trimming was ok, but execution of the gel nail application was poor. I chose a gel color from her sample wheel, identifying it by the assigned number. She retrieved the bottle, opened it and it was clearly not the color I chose. She went back to her cabinet, looking for the color, looking for another bottle with that number, but wasn't successful. I asked for my second choice color. It was found without trouble. (This should be a no-brainer part of the business. Color/number coding polishes. Color inventory accurately presented.) I noticed a clump of gel material at the tip of my nail, and asked her to smooth it out. She did, and as I watched, I saw that it was apparently the way she did it, but not consistently. All of the nails had a little more at the tip, making a little speed bump there. The polish had a little bit of a "frost" effect. The uneven application of the material is particularly evident with that feature. There were curves/swirls in the finish where it should have been even, smooth, and straight. I won't be back. I am forfeiting the $19 I paid via Groupon for my hubby's m/p. read more

Well I feel bad about all the bad reviews, barbershop wait times tend to be quite long. I know! San Jacinto Barber Shop, The gentlemen's parlor and Your Next Barber Shop all had me wait 30-60 mins. Ive been here twice and each time it was a good if not great experience. Both ladies that cut my hair knew what they were doing. I know each barber has their own technique, but I have to brag about today! I explain what I wanted, and she clarified and went to work. It was different because she used hair clips to hold my hair, but ill be damned, she took in mind my major concern and it was the first time in years that I had no complaints. (EVERY TIME SOMETHINGS WRONG but its not their fault I have an odd shaped head!, hahaha). All in All, Barbershop and salons all have wait times. Deal with it, they have a pool table and a flatscreen tv. Enjoy life! read more

My review is of the barber shop side. Been here twice. Thought the first time bad experience was a fluke so we have it another go. Long waits both times, probably due to being understaffed on a weekend. Hour plus wait for a haircut today. Doesn't help that the barbers continually stop while cutting hair to talk to each other. While watching them cut hair and one of their patrons face is covered in hair because the stylist never wiped his face off the entire cut. Still confused how that man never spoke up as he was clearly uncomfortable. Kids not being watched by parents so they are constantly playing with the pool table balls makes this place a not pleasant experience. read more

This is for the Barber Shop next door. I've been going to this place since it opened, and only for that last minute haircut type of deal because they are open late and weekends. Today was my last hope and string for this place. Not only did my two kids not get greeted or welcomed we waiting for over two hours only to find out that the two "new" guys that work there, only work by appointment only. Now, if they had mentioned that they do so only on Sunday's when there are there, it would have changed my perspective by far, but guess what??? Not one of them mentioned any information since we walked in at all!!!!!! Until I was upset that they were only cutting their friends hair and intentionally passed us up, it was when I had enough. I purchased a Groupon for a mani/pedi. When I called to make an appointment l was told the person who does the "Groupon" only comes in on Sunday's. I'm not available on Sundays, I feel like I was misled by them. This is for the barber shop part of this business, AFTER calling and asking is they're comfortable cutting hair for autistic kids, the lady said yes. I came in with my husband and kids and was told that only the lady cuts hair for the kids, fine no problem. We sit down and my son who is autistic was QUIETLY telling me he didn't want to get his hair cut. The man then tells me "if they're gonna cry and scream we can't cut their hair". REALLY DUDE! I have been there three times, the first time was great so I went back a second time and it was terrible, the girl cutting my hair messed up my sideburns because she didn't check it at all. I didn't notice until I was halfway home and had to turn back to get them readjusted, all she said was "oh sorry". So I thought it was just her so I decided to wait for a different guy my third time and he was even worst! Not only did he not cut my hair the right number he also messed up my side burns! Normally go there to get my haircut. One of the girls I normally see was ther, but she passed me on to someone else. The old lady that cut my hair was rude and unfriendly. She did such a bad job I had make her stop in the middle and I walked out with my head half shaved (which is not what I wanted). I will never comeback to this place and I highly recommend using one of the other hair places in town.
