I was overwhelmed and hesitant about finding another roofer to fix our roof. There had been a leak that was slowly getting worse, a leak that was not fixed properly by the last roofing company a few years ago. Who could I trust?? Did we really need a new roof ?? Where do we begin? I actually found the service from a referral as my sister used them to build a stunning screened in porch and Wyckoff. We had them come to provide an estimate to refurbish our front entryway, brick steps. Ultimately we landed on hiring them because we knew that they were going to be the experts we wanted. Keep in mind, the company isn't necessarily going to be the cheapest (we had several estimates) however you certainly get what you pay for (in a good way). The project manager that we were working with Maryann, was absolutely phenomenal. Any inquiry or additional ask that I came up with along the way (and I'm a perfectionist so I can be a little annoying) she addressed in a prompt manner. Not only did we change the scope of the project as we uncovered new obstacles along the way, but I even pivoted after we got a brick delivery to ensure the brick matched. They were happy to pause and go back to the brick supplier to ensure they were getting the exact tone I was looking for. Gio was our masonry and after using him, I don't think I'll ever use another masonry other than him. I work remote and was able to see a lot of the work he was putting in and it truly is a craft. He took his time and made sure he cared about things even unrelated to the job. To give you a sense of professionalism that this company brings to the table once the project was done, and I was absolutely floored by the results, I found Geo spreading a pile of new mulch we had put on the side to backfill areas that were hard to get around during the renovation. They were so polite to my young children and even interacted with my 3 year old often to let him see the big construction tools in action. Asked for a quote on my front stairs. There are 3 stairs plus a landing. About 7 feet wide. Several other mason quotes were $4900 to $7500. This company quoted me $12,500 not including material which should be another $1000 to $1500, so the quote really is $13,500+. Getting several+ quotes, I have discovered it's a two man, two day job. Slick, greasy, uneasy feeling from them so didn't even hire and declined receipt of quote. Unprofessional on the phone (didn't use good phone etiquette and identify themselves by name/company, instead: "Hello, [name]?" Sorry, but the burden is on the caller to identify him/herself). Called to say he was running late and would be 10-15 minutes, so I kept the appointment. But he took 25 minutes, arriving less than one minute before the original time window. Shows up in designer t-shirt and jeans with shiny marketing material. Said they'd done work at nearly every house on the street. From here and never seen or heard of them before seeing ad listing last week. Said he'd e-mail quote and I asked directly if he had an e-mail address for us ("Oh, yes. Of course."). Phone rings 5+ hours later asking for e-mail address (TBH I'd declined to give it upon setting the appointment the previous week, as I've dealt with several flakes from many trades, so no point to give it out until ready to move forward). Back during the summer our guest bedroom had some water seepage from the heavy rain which ended up messing up the dry wall and carpet. Come to find out we had a crack in the gutter outside the bedroom. After getting the gutter replaced and making sure there was no more seepage, we decided to get the bedroom renovated to fix the water damage. We called and spoke to Jeff Serfaty at On The Spot and he came over a few days later to give us an estimate based on 3 different options he recommended to have the bedroom redone. After we chose our preferred option, Jeff and his crew came over the following week when it was sunny and took care of everything in a couple days. After removing the furniture and the damaged carpet, Jeff's crew put up the new dry wall and vinyl flooring. They also cut out some rotted wood in the back wall of the bedroom that was allowing ants and spiders from outside to creep into the house (My wife and I had been wondering why we were having such an ant problem, no more ants!). Cutting out the rotted wood and filling the open area with cement wasn't easy. Especially since they had to cut it out by going through the wall on our backyard patio. But they made it look easy! My husband and I recently had our outdated kitchen demolished and fully renovated by On The Spot. Although the project took longer than expected, the results were completely worth the wait. Our kitchen is exactly what we envisioned and is simply gorgeous! We have already received so many compliments on the company's work. Everyone at On The Spot was a pleasure to deal with. The employees were extremely personable, professional and knowledgeable and we felt very comfortable having the workers in our home while we were at work. We worked closely with our project managers, Jeff and Chris as well as the crew that included Ray, Francisco and Dino (electrician).
