First time shopping at OUAC, came for my 3 nieces to help out for their Christmas. I was initially happy with the prices seeing pieces for $3.50-5.50 which is a bit lower than Goodwill, but soon started seeing things as high as $8.50-$12.50 and that felt inappropriate. Hmm, I have mixed feelings as the quality is better than other consignment and used items for kids, but still many things felt over priced. First time I've sold kids consignment and it was a good experience. Brought in name brand clothing (Jack and Janie, New Balance, etc) and new balance sneaker. The staff were nice (told me about the process) and I made sure to bring my stuff in a plastic bin. Everything is automated, so plug in your information and you receive a text when you can come back. When I came back - great customer service and they provided a fair purchase price. All in all, a good experience! read more

The older lady at the front was so incredibly rude to me and my son. On my way out the door another parent said to me "don't feel bad she's that way to me too". I've been bringing gently used clothes and shopping here for years. It seems that every time I bring my clothes in to sell and a specific lady is working, she never takes my clothes. Today, I waited for two and a half hours to just be told that they didn't take anything because I didn't lay my clothes flat in the bin and they were slightly wrinkled... All of them were laid flat or folded if they were too long to lay flat. I never bring clothes to sell that are not in anything but great condition. I knew this lady was going through them, because she just stared at me while the other gal told me to see how I'd react or something. I've also noticed the pricing on some items are drastically high. Like $50 for a pack n play, or $8 for a 12 month old pair of pants. I don't know if this lady has it out for me because of how much I frequent that place, but I'm always buying clothes to replace the ones I'm selling. I would give negative stars if it was an option. The experience was garbage from the moment I waked in. The staff ignored me standing there for almost 5 mins before I dropped my things off. When I picked up my items, I noticed my 2nd bag was missing - I went back inside & let the staff know, to which she just left a note & said someone would contact me because they "couldn't find it". 3 days later someone finally calls me, and says they still can't find it. After a week of "looking for it" I was told there was "nothing we can do about it because the cameras only have footage for 48 hours". So not only was the staff rude, I got paid hardly anything for the 30+ items they took, but someone stole my bag & I was told tough luck. I will NEVER come back to this location & advise others do the same. read more

I had a great experience at Once Upon a Child. I found the store to be incredibly well stocked and well organized. I found multiple items for my boys -- and left plenty on the shelf that I would have otherwise purchased but didn't need. Most of the clothing was in very good condition and I noticed that a few items that were more worn were priced accordingly. The employees were pleasant and mostly left customers alone, but I felt they would have helped if I needed anything. The store was bright and airy, and even smelled like Christmas! They had just put out their Christmas clothing so perhaps that's why, but it was a nice touch at a consignment store. I have been a mom for nearly 18 years - and my motherhood to six (6!) children has been earned via multiple formats (bio mom, adoptive mom, foster mom!) I have always been uber (obsessively) picky about what and how my kids are dressed, as I take great pride in their appearance. I love a bargain as much as anyone but I've rarely - if ever - shopped kids consignment because I take advantage of seasonal sales and reward programs regularly. I figured if I can buy new at 50%+ off, it isn't worth it. I always avoid 'fast fashion' brands, and I am meticulous about laundry and clothing care to ensure the investment that I do make into more expensive children's clothing holds its value. When my kids outgrow our clothes, they remain in pristine condition, *especially* during the earlier years. On a whim, I stopped into a BUMC church consignment sale last week, had a lot a fun rummaging. I'd found a few items that got me curious about what I might find at the Once Upon a Child in our area. I have known of this store forever, but I had never been inside. I'm SO GLAD I ignored the negative reviews here and gave it a try. I stopped in today, and my immediate impression was very positive - frankly, based on the feedback here, I was shocked! The store was bright, organized, smelled (yes, smelled) deliciously like cinnamon, and the staff greeted me pleasantly. I was offered help repeatedly as I spent 2+ hours shopping up and down the racks of size 2t through 4t boys. Sure, I found clothing that with more wear and tear than I personally would have purchased, but I also found a sizable mountain worth of items that I'd consider excellent finds. At one point, I had to sprawl across the floor to make piles and ensure I didn't duplicate (or over purchase) in one season's size. The store owner introduced herself, laughed with me about my volume and approach, and was just extremely pleasant. I left the store having purchased more than 50 items - my total bill? Under $250. I actually apologized to the store owner, because I felt like I was stealing! My entire lot was Crewcuts, Janie & Jack, Gap, and boutique brands I'm familiar with from shopping at Nordstrom (like Harley, Joules, Andy + Evan). Everything was in excellent condition. Dare I say, I had a blast? I'll give the store a few weeks to replenish their 'hidden-gem' boy clothes, since I feel like I just cleared out the racks of their very best goods, but I will most definitely be back! Ignore the negative reviews here- what you put out energy wise, comes back to you. I found no issue with this store or its staff - it was WELL WORTH the stop! read more

When I dropped my items off yesterday I told the lady that was going to give me my offer the clothes had barely been worn if they were they were worn once. They took all my name brand and gave a very low offer. When I confronted them they said it was nothing they could do. I ended up buying my items back. Every time I've ever been here and the owner is there she absolutely ruins the experience. She is constantly talking badly (and loudly) about customers and employees and what sounds like family. She is incredibly rude to her staff it has made me leave the store several times. I absolutely am blown away that a store owner thinks this is ok...it is incredibly frustrating and just gross. The items are over priced and a lot of things are dirty. You have to spend hours in there to dig to find anything good. Their Covid hours say they're open until 7. We rushed over to buy ballet slippers and got to the door at 6:53 knowing we'd be in and out quickly. We tried to open the door and it was locked. A lady was standing at the register. I knocked and she wouldn't look up. After we tried a few times we walked away. As we got to the car I saw her look up so I thought maybe she couldn't hear the knocking. We walked back over and knocked again and she continued to ignore us. As we were about to walk away she looked up at me. She stared rudely, not making any motion to indicate they were closed, sorry, or anything else. The least she could've done is that or come to the door and let us know they closed early. I was very disappointed with that experience and will not be going back. read more

For starters, you can only bring in one bin a day... no bagged items, must be in a bin. They don't specify that anywhere online. The girl who took my item wasnt friendly, like they hated their job. Drove very far with my toddler this week, only to be turned away due to my one plastic bag. I find it quite ironic y'all are "going green" and won't touch a plastic bag ... yet you want clothes in a PLASTIC bin?! HA! Very backwards. My advice if you need to stick to such a ridiculous policy is to at least tell the customer with a little compassion or empathy. There were tons of empty plastic bins around the register & when I asked if I could simply utilize one sitting there (instead of driving 40 minutes back home as the employee suggested) I was told "ABSOLUTELY....! Not." It was shockingly condescending. Being a children's store, you'd think you'd have some grace for parents with young children. Instead, I was served dirty looks & dirtier attitudes. Your front door was dirty too. Not sure what you should clean up first, the door or your employee's attitudes. read more

It's just an unpleasant experience. The people who work there seem miserable or just not interested in working. There doesn't seem to be any customer service training. I understand it is a consignment store but I think they accept too much junk. Lots of worn out or stained clothes so you have to dig. It's more of a goodwill experience than what I am used to from other locations of Once Upon a Child. I just think they need to hire someone to do an overhaul of the entire experience starting with the employees. read more

If I could give a zero I would. a they didn't have my items when I came back after 3 days. They never called me. I tried to call them and let them know I would be in the next day and no one ever answered the phone. I called several times and always got an answering machine. I had several excellent condition pieces. They wouldn't even give me my money. There wasn't a manager on duty to speak with and they were super rude. Great establishment where I buy and sell all my daughters clothing. They are so helpful whenever I come in and even help me carry things to and from my car when I have my daughter with me. They are quick when going through the used clothing. read more

There is an abundance of selections for kids of all ages and most of it is in almost-new condition. Every square inch packed with clothing or accessories. A claustrophobic nightmare when there's a sale going on. Large pit where you can cast off children to fight for dominance on the toys cast into said pit. Unfortunately found a couple of amazing things that on closer inspection should not have been up for the prices they were up for (nothing huge, just a hole here unseen, a seam there missing) Should be noted you want to Google Map the address if you're driving there as Google seems to have the old address and will send you 3.7 miles away. Hint: The new store is directly behind Toys R' Us, next to an XFinity outlet, and really close to Costco, but on the side that's not seaboard lane. Basically from Logan's parking lot, look north. read more

The lady at the register is just super rude. She yells at the young employees while customers are in the store. It's happened twice now when I've been in there. Don't let your teens work for her. I decided to try this store today as I have heard good things.... I will not return to this location! The clothes were great and I had about $80 worth of clothes in my hand. My daughter was with me and she was looking for toys while I looked at the clothes until a store clerk told her to stay with me in a very nasty tone! There were several kids playing with toys in the back area and my daughter was not being disruptive! My daughter left with me while crying that the clerk was mean to her... Requiring face masks for one, and second they aren't allowing anything that isn't in a bin, not a box or a bag, has to be in a bin! And what's the reasoning? My wife and I bought a baby swing there and when we got it home we realized it was broken and was missing a part. We went to return it and were told, "we don't take back broken items". What?? They sold it to us broken and then won't take it back? When we asked about the missing part we were told they often sell items that are missing parts and that they price items accordingly. Of course they don't tell you it's missing a part when you buy it from them!! This isn't our first bad experience at this location, but it will be our last. We won't ever go back! Stay away from this location. Their other stores are great, but this location is horrible. read more

Stains all over the purchased clothing, horrible customer service! Bought a bunch of items, and because of the terrible lighting in there, I didn't see all the stains that the clothing had when I got home. At least you can return items, which I did (over half of what I had originally purchased of a $100 bill). At check-out - I was the only person in line, and both ladies behind the desk looked at me, then continued their conversation about online shopping. Finally, I cleared my throat, one said "I'll be right there" and after a few minutes, finally sauntered over to help me. I've never seen anyone take so long to ring someone out. The entire time she kept stopping to continue her conversation with her coworker. Normally, I'd not have been in such a hurry, but with a waking baby in the car with your husband - you try to be as fast as you can be. When my went back to return the stained items, the owner barked at him several times. "NAME!" So my husband gave my name because he wasn't sure if she needed the name of who purchased it or his name or the name of our dog, or her name because she forgot it and seemed very angry about it - I mean he guessed here because her demanding loud barking was very urgent. She responded with (again in a very loud and angry manner) "NO. Not your wife's name. I don't care about your wife's name. I need YOUR name, so I can return this stuff." During the whole return, the phone was ringing and every time one of the other employees would try to pick it up so would yell "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PHONE. I'm taking care of the people in line! Just leave it alone!" Given the fact that the selection sucked, the customer service sucked, and the overall experience sucked - I won't be back. And I'll advise everyone I know to skip the place as well. read more

I really like Once Upon a Child, but I won't be returning to the Franklin location. After going to the old location on Royal Oaks Pkwy and learning it was closed, I turned to my trusty Yelp app and learned they relocated to the mall area. Drove 2 exits to the new location. Pulled up at 7:05pm (Thursday night). The signed posted outside the door says store hours for M-F are 10a-8p and there's a clerk at the cash register busily entering data. Attempted to open the door and it was locked. Clerk doesn't bother to even look up but says 'We're closed'. I attempt to get his attention and yell 'Excuse me sir, what are your store hours?' Once again, I'm ignored as he is too busy pricing $5 jeans to acknowledge a customer looking to do business with his establishment. Very rude and poor customer service. Note to owners: If you are going to disregard potential customers, the least you could do is post correct store hours and add it to your Yelp listing and web site. read more

Terrible customer service! Staff member was rude to me, stopped mid-check out to serve other customers, and then tried to hand my daughter a heavy bag of books. When I protested, she said "It wouldn't have been too heavy for her" !! Imagine my surprise it was the owner/president who was acting this way in front of her employees! read more

This store was much better when it was at the Royal Oaks location. Lower prices, better space and kinder customer service. Nonetheless, every time I come into town to visit family I also visit this store and stock up on children's clothing for the coming season. Even with the higher prices it's still better than the costs in the major metropolitan area where I live. read more
