I shop here and sell here, it's always a hit or miss because the times I've gone here, there are some sweet ladies who are kind and helpful and majority of the times, rude as heck, not very welcoming and just have an ugly attitude. This is the best place to go to shop for gently used kids clothes and also if you'd like to bring in your child's old clothes for either cash back or store credit. They will go through the bag of clothes you brought and offer you a price based on the quality/season of the clothes you bring in. We were next door for fingerprinting when we noticed OUAT. Our granddaughter has her first birthday in a couple months, so this is very opportune. The store is incredibly small (compared to the locations we're used to in New York) but they make the most of the space and provide quite an assortment of used clothing in different sizes. Good timing for us, there's a 60% off sale. We were able to find a few spring outfits that should fit nicely. Unfortunately, many of the items we looked at were not in very good condition. The prices are decent but aren't comparable to other resale shops in the area. There is so much stock that it looks stuffed, cluttered and a small challenge to sift through. The young lady at the checkout was very pleasant, but a bit preoccupied with a young man (possibly working there). Only shopped here once and I was excited to sell my baby clothes as I have A LOT. But was disappointed as I brought in quite a few clothes in a good sized Kirkland box and they took almost everything for very little money. Very few of the outfits were not brand name and I didn't like that I had put all the outfits together to find they had been separated. I was told that they don't buy hats or suspenders which I didn't care for. My intention in bringing those items in was to keep them with their original outfits. I don't expect to be paid out for them. I also personally went through the clothes made sure they had been washed and had already taken out anything that was stained. They then told me they weren't able to take the ones that were stained... Not happy with this experience. If you are considering selling here I would suggest going with FB marketplace instead and get a more fair price for what you're selling. read more

Regarding the clothes I don't have any problem the truth is that the prices are fair and the quality of the clothes is good, the organization of the clothes and the location of each one is very accessible, honestly what I'm not very happy with is the costumer service I think that if you don't like your work or what you do then it means that place is not for you, I know that sometimes it is a little stressful to work in an area where you have to be in contact with many people but that's the purpose of those jobs and if you don't like it then better look for something where you don't have to interact with anyone, sometimes a simple smile makes a lot of difference and that makes the experience completely nice read more

The new location is amazing it's so much bigger and they have shopping carts so u don't have to carry all your finds! I love coming here to sell my kids clothes and then use the money to get her bigger sizes as she grows, very good selection and super affordable, I can buy a whole season of outfits for under $200, we r talking boots and snow pants and jackets and pajamas and school clothes etc etc - love shopping here! Chantelle, I've been a long-time customer of OUAC, and I was there for the grand opening. This evening, I visited the new location for the third time, arriving around 6:40 PM with a box of clothing I intended to sell. Upon entering, Jasmyn immediately asked, "How much stuff are you selling?" without a greeting or even a smile. Her tone came across as abrupt and unwelcoming. She added that if it was a large amount, I should have called ahead because they stop buying at 7:00 PM. Again, this was at 6:40. Her manner caught me off guard. It felt like my husband and I were seen as an inconvenience rather than valued customers. When I asked where to place the box, she told me to put it at the end of the counter, though there was no room. Thankfully, another employee made space for it. Still, no one came to assist further, so I left the box there and began browsing. About 10 minutes later, Jasmyn informed me that I needed to enter my number into the kiosk if I wanted to sell anything. I pointed out that she could have easily told me that when I first arrived with the box. Despite multiple employees being present and very few customers in the store, no one took the initiative to help. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I told Jasmyn that she had been rude and unhelpful and that I no longer wanted to sell my items. I returned to my car to get my husband to help carry the box out. As I sat in the car, my husband noticed Jasmyn through the window, gesturing animatedly and talking to her coworkers in a way that made it seem like she was discussing us. I went back inside and asked her if there was something she wanted to say to me. I let her know that I could see her through the window and reiterated that her behavior was rude and unprofessional. I also mentioned that perhaps she should receive some training in customer service especially since she seems to have plenty of time focused on making social media posts. If she is this comfortable treating customers this way, I doubt this was an isolated incident. The only place in Reno with horrible customer service. Everything else is great. The new location is big and bright. I shop here about once a month and would shop more often if the people that worked there were trained in better customer service. I'm good with no greeting when I walk in, but when I stand in line with merchandise ready to buy and I patiently wait over a minute before asking if one of the 5 girls behind the counter ca check me out, it can be really off putting to shop here. I like to shop, pick out my stuff and get out. Waiting and being ignored while trying to be a paying customer is why I tell friends and family you can go here but expect the worst service. read more

You can find some decent deals, but selling here huuuuurts (my last sale I got about 15-20% of my items value-- and it was brand new with tags). However, even if you can make more selling on say Facebook Marketplace, it's certainly a lot more convenient to sell at Once Upon A Child. This store doesn't have selling appointments (like another store I've been too-- yes, surprisingly this store exists in other states!), so I was able to walk in, add my name to list, and after about 45 minutes they were able to review my few items. That is quite awhile to wait so of course I was able to browse the entire store and found more to buy than I made back in things I sold. They did mention that they were short staffed so maybe it's normally a shorter wait. In short, they have some decent deals and they are worth checking out but not everything is a good deal (for example, I usually only shop their clothing when they have promos because I find places like Walmart have much better prices on brand new baby clothes; I have sometimes seen things at OUAC new with tags where the original store's clearance tag was cheaper than OUAC's!). They will offer you 3 bucks for your item that they will just sell for 40 dollars! they always offer you way less than they will sell an item for because they are greedy!!! I went in there today to sell a box of clothes, and a wood Bluey Desk Chair complete with accessories that were well taken care of. Cleaned of course before I sold it. light wear and tear but overall used good condition, I originally bought it for $60 but now I have 2 kids and one on the way so I decided to sell it, hoped for at least $25 so I could use the money to go toward a new desk that fits all my kids for crafts. Guess what their offer was? 3 BUCKS! T H R E E D O L L A R S $3!!! A SCAM! Most of their customers that sell and buy from them are low-income families including my family and they always ALWAYS sold unfairly. They will buy your things for 2 bucks and sell it for like 30 dollars. That is ridiculous and unfair and a scam if you ask me. Owner is greedy, whoever tries to scam people and buy items for less than their worth for the sake of your profit, you are all disgusting! Sell your things literally anywhere else! It's inevitable that little ones need a lot of things and those things are temporary when they grow out of them. This store is super great for that. They have close for babies up to kids sizes 18. They also sell toys, books, and contraptions. I'm big on thrifting for myself. This store is cheap and it is ideal for families with multiple children too. They have a lot of products to choose from. Some of their things seem new even though it's second hand. The staff is nice and helpful. They greet you as soon as you walk in. They also have a point system for when you shop here frequently. You get a star for every $10. This can lead you to other store discounts. I recently learned that you cannot apply your discount you get from your stars if the clothes have clearance tags. You can sell them your gently used items too. They give you cash same day. read more

Okay the people that work there are 1 really stuck up and 2 absolutely so rude went in there to try to sell a really nice expensive bouncer and some cloths. They took almost 40 minutes to get back to me and offered me $6 for a $119 bouncer after first telling me they were denying it because it was broke (they didn't test it with batteries). Absolutely ridiculous they told me it was because they would sell it for $15 which is not true. They were rude, not helpful, and incompetent. Would not recommend read more

Prior to coming to the store I called to check the hours since it was a holiday. All they said was they close at normal time but they stop taking items for purchase at 7pm (I called around 6:15pm). I show up at 6:30pm and she tells me I should've come earlier. Sounds to me like they just don't want to do their job or they could've said on the phone, they're backed up so they suggest a different day. The "key holder" has attitude about it because I said that I had just called and they said I had until 7 and she said she can't say anything over the phone. It just doesn't make sense but ok. Regardless, walking in the door to no greeting and the first things is, "you have infant stuff in there? Is that all you have?!!!" Is unprofessional and unwelcoming. Additionally, the bathroom is now taped off and overall the store is messy, stuff on the floor, parts of the carpet missing. This store is going downhill and customer service horrible. read more

I really do like this store. I have two kids (10yrs and a 4 month one) and as a parent you know kids grow fast! Being able to buy their stuff here really helps! All of the stuff is in really good condition. I always end up buying items every time I go. Another great thing about this store is the selling! I love to take my kids stuff here that they no longer fit or want. I have always had a great amount of things bought from me and get a good amount of money for the items. I really should come in here more - it is a great place to find affordable children's items/clothing. The staff I've encountered are always kind which makes it a pleasant shopping experience. They are quick to apologize when the lines are super long to check out. The store itself is a little too small in my opinion, things feel cramped and it's hard to have more than two people in the same aisle. And when you first walk in you usually have to dodge some high chairs/bassinets to get to the clothing. I do love that they have so many options/sizes for the kiddos. I usually go to look for shoes which can be really easy or really difficult. I've found a few gems that I love for my daughter, but it often takes digging through multiple bins and even looking at the sizes just above and below because they get mixed up often. You just have to be ready to search. Overall, it is a great store for the prices and I don't mind spending time searching for items. read more

I love Once upon A Child, being a mom of 4 - you know how quick the turnover is on a child wardrobe. OUAC helps that process for me as the clothing is gently used and affordable. Beyond that, they have great brands and finds. I will find a few overpriced items here and there though but they will be named brands. Still cheaper than retail but what is worn out is worn out. Whoever decides pricing needs to consider that. This review is solely from a buyers pov as I've never sold to them. But do not expect to get a lot of $ if you are selling to them - the store has to make $ somehow as well. I would like to say I think this store is amazing for baby items that are needed at a lower price. It's nice to have an option to sell your used baby stuff as well. My only complaint is the customer service provided. They had the attitude as it's a paycheck and to not provide wonderful customer service. I waited 3.5 hours for my stuff to be appraised when I was told 2.15 hours. When calling to ask on an update the gentleman on the phone sounded confused. When I went to pick up my items in the store after they were finished appraising no one welcomes you in. If you're going to be in the customer service field you have to be kind and welcome in your customers. Unfortunately, I don't think I would go there again due to the customer service being so poor. read more

We frequent this baby resale store quite often. They have a huge selection for all sizes, although more girl options than boy options which is normal anywhere you shop for kids clothes it seems. The prices on most things are usually pretty reasonable and the service is always quick and friendly. My biggest complaint of this particular store is the music they play. It is absolutely horrid. They seem to only play old emo music or Religious music and it's blasted so loud it becomes unbearable after about 15 mins and usually is the reason we end up leaving before we're done shopping. We've sold many things here and while they give you the option to take cash or credit, they don't offer an increased amount if you choose credit, as most buy/sell places do. Lastly, if you're looking for something particular, be prepared to have to look through every rack and bin as every time we go, we find it terribly unorganized. Lots of girls clothes in the boys section, all sizes where they don't belong, etc. If you're into saving money and scavenger hunts, this is your place. We like the price and we like that we can find things not every kid has. (like every 2 yr old at our daycare has the same 4 colors of Target cargo pants) read more

Very overwhelming with so much to go through but totally worth for some second hand clothes and thrifting for your little ones with I believe great deals. Their customer service skills could be worked on a little more for sure like all the reviews say, but not a deal breaker for me to be honest. This was my first time going here and I just spontaneously made a trip as I was already on the hunt for a changing table. Again very overwhelming and actually did not end up finding a anything diaper changing related. But I did see lots of bouncers , bassinets , toys, and TONS of clothes. I feel as if there was a lot more girl clothes then there was boy clothes but I mean, for the amount they had of boy clothes , I just could not get through all of it. What really impressed me though for it being my first time here, was their new deal their doing where you buy a tote for $3.99 fill it with clothes 24 months and younger and get 50% off whats in the tote. I ended up buying $40 worth of items for only $17. 4 of them being holiday onesies that I could find at Carters that was selling them for $16 for just one onesie. DEF a deal to me. To me, i'm all for thrifting, saving money, finding deals & with a baby boy on his way, I'm actually happy I finally stopped in here. My wife contacted them to sell a Peg Prego $900 stroller system we had, was told they can only offer 120-150 for it, makes sense as they need to make their profit, she agreed...took the time to go there to bring it in , the young lady (extremely cold and unprofessional) tells her (after we overheard her telling her colleague "wow, these are very expensive ") turns to my wife and tells her she will give her $43...... we were shocked.... Being a grandparent to a new grandchild, this time to a grandson so my daughter doesn't have any boy items. We decided to stop by here while in Reno to pick up some newborn boy clothing items. Prices are great. Great amount of clothing to look through. Some items looked a bit more worn that I would like to purchase but they were marked pretty low. The lady at the counter was training 2 new employees which is great. We weren't in a rush. I did notice a flyer advertising a sale coming up in a few days that would have been a better deal but since we live a hour away it would not have been worth it with gas prices. The only thing I wanted to mention is that they offer a special on their onesies, buy 10 for $10 rather than $1.50 each. While my items were being ringed up and was almost done, I mentioned that I did have 10 onesies for their special. I wasn't going to mention it thinking their system would pick that out but it doesn't. They had to start all over again ringing everything up to manually put in the $1 price so if you are doing the 10 item special, make sure you mention it prior to getting rung up. I don't know why all the bad reviews. I've been buying and selling here since 2017 (when I moved here) and I've always had good experiences. Their phone number is +1 (775) 825-4448, and their houses are 9am-8pm all days but Sunday. If you sell, you must pickup before the end of the business day. The paperwork you sign states that if you do not pick up on the same day, that all the items then go as a donation, so make sure to be free to pick up the same day. The staff has always been super nice! I've been to many OUAC's and this is the cleanest for sure. I'm a big fan. It's a hunt, but you can seem to always find brand new - tags still on - items. This store is the WORST!!!! It's time for this business to do Reno a favor and just close their doors forever because I am DONE with this place. I had been selling items here for many, many years without too much drama- I know what they like and I bring in only high quality clothing brands and things that are in good condition, etc. However, the staff here has recently become SO rude and hostile that I don't think I will ever do business here again. This isn't a good place to shop for kids items, and if you try to sell things here, the amount of money they give you is so tiny that it is NOT worth dealing with the horribly unfriendly employees just to get a few dollars for your stuff. From now on, I will be donating our outgrown children's items to charity or giving them to a friend, where they can do more good.
