I witnessed staff stocking in many of the aisles. Every time I browse I compare prices and I must say hands down Walmart undercuts everyone's price point. It may be 10 cents, it may be a dollar. We adopted a Golden Retriever puppy this morning from a reputable local service dog trainer and breeder. Ace is 4 months into legitimate service dog training which is a very demanding training routine. We stopped at the store to pick up some baby gates and the greeter was extremely irritated to the point of being unprofessional and irrationally agitated. There was no warmth in the interaction, it felt so strange that it instantly became an unpleasant experience. I explained that the puppy is in training as a service animal, but she was so angry at there being an animal in front of her that I don't think she wanted to understand. It was embarrassing and everyone around went from adoring a cute puppy into awkwardly avoiding this angry old woman who is barking orders like someone just committed a heinous crime in front of her face. Please train her to control her anger. If a shopper is breaking a store policy, I expect the process should be to inform them and not to lecture them. There's no room in customer service for that kind of aggression. I have no idea why this situation would make somebody become spitting mad, but I have no interest in being mistreated by some random employee on a power trip when a simple respectful conversation would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, it's difficult to avoid shopping at Walmart entirely. Being mistreated definitely doesn't make me want to come back. I can say there is clearly a problem with this one door greeter that should be examined by management. If she's having such a bad day that she can't even speak respectfully, the least she could do is keep that venom to herself and not share it with random shoppers.

I have been an avid OUAC shopper. This location, however, is very different from the ones I have been to. I have been to this location more than 5 times. 1. Most of their clothes are very faded, pilled, stained, or stretched out. 2. In their very limited collection I have found very little diversity. 3. There is absolutely no short sleeve pajamas, like ever, and if you are looking for "Boys", good luck 4. When you bring in clothes, they are very "selective" with what they purchase, although it does not show in their inventory. 5. What upset me the most was when they denied all of my clothes (none dirty, weathered, or damaged), they told me to pick them up or they would be "disposed of"... As stated, I have sold items at other locations and when some of my items were denied, OUAC employees would DONATE THEM, not DISPOSE of them. This company is supposed to be about sustainability and recycling children's clothes, but this location would take perfectly fine clothes and throw them in the trash, instead of donating them to CHKD or other kids in need. There is a deep separation in the values of this OUAC and others I have been to. Their website and mission statement preach "sustainability" , but actions show that they have no problem disposing of clothes in unsustainable ways. When I was notified that my giant bag of kids clothes would be thrown away, I quickly picked them up and brought them to CHKD. I believe this OUAC needs a reminder of the purpose of their stores. All other locations I have seen employed mothers, large piles and bags of clothes to be donated, fair prices on good, quality clothes, and a sense of community, but here all of my expectations are not met.

Prices, organization, and inventory have all improved! Very excited that they're here! When I was walked in today, I was greeted by one of the owners in a very friendly fashion. He was sitting behind the front counter talking pleasantly with a customer and greeted us with a smile and a hello! Both times we have been here, it has been very organized and easy to browse. They put batteries in the things that require them so you can see that they work. If they miss something and it doesn't have batteries, they offered to put batteries in it so that you can see that it functions properly before purchasing. It's clear that they care very much about their inventory and the way it is organized. The clothing and toys are all clean and easy to see. During our first visit I bought a couple of clothing items and a baby swing. We were so excited to find this item at a reasonable price, in good operation and clean. The "lost star" - and my only qualm - is that during my second visit to this location, after we had been browsing for a bit, the conversation at the front register turn to politics (it's a pretty small store so any conversation reaches the whole store). I stayed and waited for it to end, but it drug out and they kept discussing... The cashier/owner did nothing to redirect the conversation and continued to engage in discussion about politics. To be honest, I don't necessarily disagree with the things that they were saying... I am just so tired of listening to politics everywhere I go. Before leaving, I did say something to the owner and (I thought, politely) let him know that I was uncomfortable trying to browse while they were discussing religion and politics. I even told him I didn't disagree with his point of view in the discussion, it just made it really hard to enjoy my shopping experience. Politics are everywhere... I don't really want to listen to them when I am shopping for clothes and toys for my baby. I will come back again. I like this store and the ownership... I just hope to have a better experience next time.

I brought it back with the intent to return it and buy one online from a company I used previously that had lasted for 4 years. I exchanged instead, against my better judgement. I put this new necklace on my baby a few hours later and realized it could be pulled up over her head, it was too long. This is dangerous for a teething necklace and they should fit a bit more snugly. I brought it back the next morning and was told no refunds at all and it was shocking I was even allowed to exchange the day before. I said I was quite frustrated that both experiences at this local shop have now been negative and the blonde employee there(different from the red headed one the previous day) told me that she didn't understand why I was frustrated with her since she can't change policy. While this is correct, she is the face of the company during my interaction, so unfortunately she is the one receiving my dissatisfaction. She offered a one time in store credit, which I declined. I walked to the door and informed her that I had no desire to bring any of my business to this store again and it's been a huge waste of my time. She said under her breath as I walked out the door, "YOU NEED SERIOUS HELP." I'm sorry, but that is absolutely uncalled for. I am allowed to politely but adamantly express my dissatisfaction with a company policy without the employee telling me to get help!! I had not used foul language up until this point, but I said a few unkind words at that point and stormed out. Utterly disappointed that our opinion of this area(recent move to this new area) has been sullied by unkind and unprofessional businesses like this one.

If you're looking for anything, just try seeing if you can find it here first. There's nothing like a good thrift find and this is the place to search.

Each clothing item is hand-picked and selected for sustainability and eco-friendliness, so I wouldn't recommend coming in expecting to pay the same prices you would for clothing or toys at Walmart or Target. The great thing about consigning is that if you choose to take store credit, you will get a higher value for the items you sell. I was very pleased to hear this, and more than willing to purchase other consignment items for my own daughter. I love the idea of consigning and thrifting rather than purchasing things new whenever I can, and this is a great way to do that while also supporting small business. I was so blown away by the selection of items and the customer service that I have since been back twice since my first visit. Per my daughter there has been some recent renovations and it did look great! For reference there is another H&M on the Southside at the Norfolk Premium Outlet's. My daughter prefers Lynnhaven. The store offers a huge selection of women, men and even children's clothing. The racks were full even after Christmas. The stock overall organized, however I saw quite a few dust bunnies on the floor against the walls. My daughter's return was pretty good, but a mistake was made putting the return on the card and instead cash was given. No big deal. The purchase of new items was smooth and the staff friendly. She found the value of her jeans purchase to be better than competitors. So for cost conscious shoppers it's a great place to shop. I've been to this store a few times and it's consistently above average and appears to be a young adult favorite.
