Prior to the massage, I told her about a medical condition I have (because it's not obvious) that causes chronic pain because she asked about it. She acted as though it was not an issue (because it's not and does not affect my ability to get a massage and is the reason why I was seeking massage services). During the massage she asked me if I wanted deeper pressure and I said yes. It didn't feel like that happened. I asked her to work two specific areas and she did not adequately work on either area. After the massage, before I could say anything at all, she told me she did not do her best work on me because of my medical condition and that I should consult my doctor before getting massages & get a doctor's note giving her permission to do deep tissue work on me. It was extremely offensive and an extremely dumb thing to say- if she hurts someone during a massage she is liable no matter what a doctor's note says or someone's medical condition. Frankly, I would have laughed if it had not made me feel so uncomfortable. There were so many other ways to simply ask the question "have you ever been injured by a massage?" To which I would have replied "no." But instead it seemed hostile. No matter her intention, it was a disturbing interaction and I will not be returning to this business. She also did not tell me prior to the massage that she doesn't take credit cards, even though her associate does. She only takes Venmo or cash. She's lucky I had Venmo. That's really something you should share BEFORE the service.

My first concern was when I called to schedule my Groupon appointment. The phone was not answered professionally. When I asked who I was speaking with, the response was, "Well, who are you trying to call?" This immediately made me question whether I wanted to keep the appointment. She later apologized and explained that someone had been "playing on her phone," which I appreciated. During that conversation, I was told a code would be sent for building access. It was never sent, and I had to follow up multiple times. I didn't receive the code until mid-morning Saturday, the day of our appointment. We arrived at 3:00 p.m. for our couples massage, but no one was there. We stood in the hallway waiting for her and her partner to arrive. Once inside, we were asked to sit on the sofa while the room was prepared. We were not offered water, a mimosa, or any refreshment. When shown to the massage room, we were instructed to undress and get on the tables. No robes were offered. Before the massage, I explained that I work at a desk and sit most of the day, so I specifically wanted my back and shoulders addressed. I also explained that my partner is a truck driver and that I was concerned about the tension in his back. Although we booked Swedish massage, we communicated that we wanted most of the time focused on our backs. I even offered to pay the additional $25 per person for deep tissue. Unfortunately, during my massage, the therapist could clearly feel the knots and tension in my back but essentially passed over them rather than working them out. I left feeling that the areas I specifically identified were not adequately addressed. My partner was happy with his massage, although it was his first and he had no basis for comparison. His only concern was the therapist's breath when speaking closely to him, which should be considered when working in such close proximity to clients. We did tip well because we appreciate people's time and effort. However, overall, I felt my money could have been better spent. I would have rather paid a little more for the polished experience I expected, which I now intend to visit the other therapist recommended at the Omni to address the tension that wasn't relieved. I'm sharing this review in hopes the owner will take the feedback constructively. Clients are paying for an experience--not just a massage. Professional communication, preparation, hospitality, cleanliness, comfort, and attention to detail all matter. Unfortunately, I would not return to or recommend Honeybee Massage & Wellness. I sincerely hope they use this feedback as an opportunity to improve and "up their game.
