After a bit of a trip and quite a few missed exits I found the shop and... I cannot recommend it highly enough! It is an absolute treasure trove of dresses in loads of different shapes. The owner Donna couldn't have been nicer and really encouraged me to try on different things to see what I liked/disliked with no pressure or the stupid 1 hour limit which I have encountered in other wedding shops. She didn't even mind when I phaffed about looking at all the bridesmaid dresses and had said I wasn't buying until next year). The dresses are beautiful plus the prices are, well gobsmackingly cheap. This shop puts other wedding shops to shame - I just wish it was nearer Cardiff, but then I guess the prices would be a lot higher! Definitely worth the trip! p.s. am going back to pick up 'the' dress in December!!

The food was all freshly prepared at the venue and the waiter staff were well mannered and helpful. The only reason I did not go the full five stars is because I there were some guests that had to wait for starters and some only received a part of what was on the menu. This may have had more to do with the emergence of unexpected guests but I can only hope that Steve and the crew think about this possibility going forward. Would recommend them without a second thought.

I attended a family wedding at the weekend, with both the ceremony and the reception taking place there. Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into the exterior. Classy fairylights (yes, they exist) decorated the trees, wooden walkways and external seating areas. The well-cared for pond, seating area and grounds are bathed in mood lighting, and romantic music is played late into the night. Perfect for a spot of dancing away from the crowds. The staff were excellent, and the reception took place in a beautiful room with a ceiling covered in twinkly lights. The food was nice and fairly fast. The only downside was the smaller bar and the short supply of bread rolls. For a smaller wedding (Under 150 guests) this is the perfect, intimate venue. Plus you can hit up W-S-M pier the next day. Which, obviously, is the best way to get rid of a hangover.

And the manager Nigel was super helpful & professional. As well as Sasa who works the restaurant. He really made our trip special. So most of the people that work there are super nice. But the place is not run very well at all. It very difficult to book a spa treatment. We called days before & no one got back to us. When we did finally get a treatment they over charged for a treatment that wasn't given. Our room wasn't serviced as house keeping was under staffed. The bedside lamp didnt have a bulb in it. There weren't enough towels for 2 people...etc. Just very under staffed. Also the restaurant menu was very limited & not the best food. So we had a pleasant stay but with more attention to detail, it could be a lot better. For those reasons I give 4 stars instead of 5.

The catwalk shows were really good too:)) The bridal register that is free also helped out after the fayre as I get monthly emails with offers on, so decided to book my video and got 10% discount. The Barn provided a fun, rustic location and staff guided all the necessary changes. (Side note: The wedding was for a friend who manages musical acts, including some '80s pop stars. Our musical entertainment included synth-pop hit-maker Howard Jones and Kajagoogoo bass player Nick Beggs! I can't promise they'll show up for your event.) It is remote, though, and if people are drinking some planning needs to take place to ensure taxis from Abergavenny are booked to show up at the end of the night.
