Been wanting to try this restaurant for a few years now but was never in the area the right time except for tonight. It was well worth the wait and did not disappoint. I at first was very skeptic about trying this place but I must say it truly is a hole in the restaurant. I was truly impressed with the staff there were only 2 ladies working and let me tell you they were on top of everything. I ordered the tenderloin and it was honestly the best tenderloin I've ever ate. My grandpa got the black and blue burger and he said he was very impressed as well. Wanted to go somewhere special but not fancy or expensive for my birthday. I was visiting my Aunt and Uncle who live on Bass Lake and they had oddly never been to One Eyed Jack's. I think its because they aren't on Yelp. I saw the reviews and pictures ( and even though there are many warnings about bad service) I was intrigued by the food. Well... where to start? First, when we were sat I mentioned it was my birthday....nothing. Not even a happy birthday wish. Ok, fine. Next, we ordered appetizers. We ordered wings and asked for 2 sauce choices on the side. She waited until the wings were coming out to tell us they were out of one of the sauces. We ordered another substitute...guess what... also out? Ok I give them a pass if ( one) they tell me right away and (two) they aren't out of more than that ( AND TELL ME RIGHT AWAY... why she didn't tell us when she was out of the first sauce). Next, she kept forgetting our order RIGHT AFTER WE TOLD HER) and we had to correct her several times!! * MENTIONED BIRTHDAY AGAIN*. ( nothing again ) Then, the main meals ordered were their famous pork tenderloin sandwiches and a few burgers. My husbands burger came with wrong side, NO CHEESE ANDNO GRILLED ONIONS????? Came back STILL without grilled onions !!!! But he was starving and never REsent back. The other burger according to my Aunt had a weird flavor. The fries tasted old. The pork tenderloins were good and HUGE. Then, because of the issue with the sauces, subpar burgers , and subpar service I asked if they were going to take a little something off the bill. I am a FIRM believer that if a business doesn't have to compensate for bad food and/ or service they won't fix issues and people will stop going... end result they will suffer. So it helps THEM if you bring issues to their attention. NOTHING WAS TAKEN OFF THE BILL AND NEVER DID THEY SAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY or offer so much as a birthday dessert as most places do. My second experience was not as good as my first. I arrived for supper and was not acknowledged upon entering, even though a waitress was at the closest table to be socializing. I went from the bright side to the darker "bar"side where a waitress was more attentive, at first. I ordered a variety of foods. They advertised several pies. I took the last sugar cream pie piece. It was flavorful but the consistency was "old", almost 'gel- like' rather than creamy. They were out of the pie my friend wanted. I had tater tots--stuck together and "old". Heard the waitress say "they were the last ones". The mushrooms in the veggie grill were shriveled but grilled anyway. Drink refills hard to come by. The list goes on....food was just not up to par and service was pretty inconsistent. read more

I had broasted chicken which was delicious. Side of chili was also terrific. My wife had a tenderloin. It was good but I think a little too big and it was cooked a little long. This is my second time and I'll definitely come back. I really want to try the broasted pork chop after how good the chicken was. read more

My husband and I are moving to Winamac. We bought a house here to retire. We have been here many times before and it's always a hit or miss. One time we ordered food for pick up and when I got there, they had a computer problem. I asked a perfectly acceptable question about our order and the person at the register shoved the receipt in my face and yelled SEE ITS ON THERE! So we go last night and order the black and blue ribeye, no blue cheese. We were sharing our entrees and my husband doesn't like blue cheese. The waitress acted like I asked her to cut my meat and feed me. My husband ordered the bluegill dinner. The bartender brought us our food without an extra steak knife despite us stating we were sharing. Then came time to cut the steak. First I asked for medium and got rare. Second 3/4 of the steak was fat and gristle. I talked to a waitress ( not ours since she disappeared) and she said oh I'm sorry it's probably just the meat we ordered. Went to pay and the manager asked how everything was and I told him worst steak of my life. No offer to cut the bill, nothing but I'm sorry. Come here, eat the good food, but don't ever order the ribeye. Oh and the waitress said ribeyes have more fat. I told her I know this as it is my steak of choice but not like this as she is looking at about 12 ounces of fat and gristle on my plate read more

Hometown restaurant with yummy food! My parents are a regulars here. They are treated so well and respected; greeted by name and the wait staff don't even need to ask them their drink order anymore. I usually order wings and tator tots but sometimes switch it up. They have amazing poppyseed dressing too. They serve good food and large portions. Haven't had a bad meal yet! read more

I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant and wanted to try for myself. Not sure if they were having a bad day or what but I was extremely disappointed!! It started with bad tasting water and went down from there. I ordered a red cream soda (one of my favorites) and it was extremely watered down had to exchange it. I ordered the ribeye steak sandwich no onions no green peppers. When it arrived it was smothered in onions!! I told the waitress and she responded oh that's my fault but did nothing to rectify the situation. I picked off the onions losing my cheese in the process. If that wasn't bad enough the steak could not have been an 1/8th of an inch thick and full of fat and gristle!! I complained again at checkout and again nothing to rectify the situation. I paid $16.25 for my dinner and left starving!! Sorry but I will never return!! read more

Make it 4.5 stars. really. A conference held at the local school instigates a trip to Winamac. Which I can best describe as a wonderful little burg tucked idyllically beside the river in the midst of freaking nowhere beyond God's elbow. That said, if you're nearby and seeking to strap on the feedbag and looking for hearty well priced fare - this place - One Eyed Jack's has it. Thank you again Yelp Nation because I wouldn't have found it and mistakenly driven back to Rochester or Plymouth for sustenance. We walked in at lunch time on a Saturday expecting it to be busy - the family dining side was a bit busier but not packed. Informing our wonderful waitress it being our first time there, we asked for recommendations - and so glad we did. She said their best sellers were the large burgers and tenderloins. We both close the breaded tenderloins - her's with fries, mine with tots. Love tots - especially in a bar! I can't type my remarks here when the basket was delivered or after taking my first few bites. Yelp frowns upon vulgarities. Let's just say the sandwich was huge, the meat thick (some place ruin a loin by beating the crap out of until if crepe paper thin, not here!!), the breading just right and abso-awesome! It's too far for us to classify as Destination Dining, but if ever nearby we'll make it a point to stop in again - and have one of the best breaded tenderloins in the Hoosier State!!! read more

As far as Winamac Indiana goes this is pretty much the finest diner in town. They usually have at least 4 lunch specials and everything is home made which is awesome. I had the chili as a appetizer, which wasn't all that good, and the ham and beans for lunch. Even though the chili was a little sub-oar, the Ham and beans were delicious. I also had a broccoli salad as a side and some boiled cabbage. The interior of this place is a throw back to whenever wood paneling was massively in style. The furniture is at least as old as I am and it does have a bit of a run down feel to it. That being said though it is still great home cooked food and the service was fast and friendly. Also, it seems like this is one of those small town places where everyone knows each other and likes to hang out for lunch. I guess you could really classify it as a eating/gossip center for the local community. read more

We had dinner here and not too great for service. Slow service, food was ok not great....not bad. Had a glass of wine that I accidentally knocked over and it hit glass salt shaker and broke. Server can and took away broken glass but never cleaned up mess on table from spill. Then we saw a cockroach crawling up the wall. That did it. Won't be back. read more
