The project being a tree removal, as well planting within a foot away (due to sprinklers only being able to reach so far). With that being said I had set a time and date with them to do the job. I ordered the tree for delivery the day prior, but once the day came for the job it was a no show. Concerned, I contacted NW Tree Work to see what was going on. Turns out they are short staff. I'm pretty reasonable so I go ahead and try to reschedule. This time, I'm told the job is more complex so a new date is set. Once the new date rolls around, again, no show. At this point I'm constantly contacting NW Tree Work to the point they are reading my messages but not replying. I have to call every single time to get a hold of someone, to which I'm told I will get a reply later in the day, and to which I don't. It takes me contacting each day to try and reschedule only to be told a date the project will get done by and for someone to not show up. Big waste of time. On top of that, when speaking to John he assured me the prior weekend he'd get the job done and not only that move the tree out of public view and water it so it's okay. Sadly, none of that ever happened or came into fruition, the trees flowers started dying off due to it not being properly taken care of which it would have been had it been planted as planned. Ultimately this lead to a lot of back and forth. Whether its short-staffed or health related issues, telling a customer a date you're going to get the job done and continuously bailing is not the right response to do. The kicker was John calling me later that day to tell me how to give more trust and understanding to professionals and how delays happen and it's all normal. How about building that trust with customers first by not bailing on them multiple times over and over again, then we can have that conversation. Aside from all the negatives, I can give them credit for at least reimbursing me on the tree (though they only would if they ended up taking it). I'm not typically one to leave reviews, but I think it's important for anybody else on this platform to be informed with what potential risks you have working with certain companies. Emotions aside, this is just my personal experience with the company and for that I would not recommend them moving forward.

They made two trips in one day; once to cut the tree down and another to grind our stump. The person who came out to grind our stump operated the machine with a remote control and took special care to avoid as much damage as was possible to the rest of the yard. It's a big machine and we had a narrow path but the damage was barely noticeable. We frankly expected it to be worse out of necessity but they took extreme care and did a very professional job. A neighbor recommended: Mike's General Landscaping in Camas WA. I have since hired Mike (Actually Ishmael) Vazquez, owner/landscaper and I am very pleased with the quality of his work and the fact that I can trust him to arrive when he says that he will and be very diligent about doing my landscape maintenance while he is at my home. Mike uses his Translator app on his phone to converse due to Spanish being his native language and doing that is just fine with me. Mike is very good and careful about asking before he trims stuff to ensure we are both on the same page and Mike has good suggestions regarding what he thinks would be advantageous for my yard. I am very pleased that Mike was recommended to me and is now is taking care of my landscaping projects. His prices are also reasonable.

He also treated my yard for a peony blight that had begun effecting not only my peonies, but other plants as well. I was so happy that he knew about this blight and how to apply what I'd bought at Portland Nursery as a cure. I trust Paithen's recommendations and knowledge. He also cut down and pulled out a relatively small espallied apple tree which was a difficult job, but he stuck with it! I found once it took me several calls to get a call back and get put on his schedule. I sensed they were very busy. Perhaps Spiral Tree needs to develop a more effective procedure for taking messages and returning calls. Paithen is a pleasure to work with as his quiet, knowledgeable way invokes confidence and trust.

We have two 100 feet+ Douglas Fir trees in our backyard (along with many others in the country club…read morenext door) and a recent wind storm sent a broken limb ("widow maker") either from higher in the same tree or from another tree. This limb was snagged within the tree and was precariously balanced over couple of the lower branches about 40 to 45 feet above the ground. To remove this hazard, I called 5 tree care specialist companies to obtain estimates. Some companies have such high minimum charge (over $500) that I had to eliminate them immediately. Moreover, these big operation companies were not interested in such a small scale job. Couple of other companies were more accommodating and also cheaper, yet I felt that the people I spoke to were not as knowledgeable and/or lacked professionalism. Also, I wanted to hire a company that uses spurless climbing so that there is no damage to the tree bark. Although Ward Tree Care was not the cheapest, I was impressed with the owner's (Chris Ward) professionalism and quick response and I hired him right away after receiving a written quote. In addition, the written quote was detailed and organized well so that there was no confusion as to the services to be rendered. Other company's quotes were mostly hand-written and lacked polish. The broken limb was taken care of by Jared and Adam; both of whom were courteous and efficient at their jobs. Furthermore, both guys gave me tips on how to prune some of the other trees in my garden. I wholeheartedly recommend this company for tree pruning and "widow maker" removal service. The company is not only efficient and knowledgeable about its business, but also seeing a guy being suspended high above with a single rope can be entertaining as well; it was as if I were watching a National Geographic documentary featuring a naturalist climbing giant Redwood trees.

I have a huge, very old magnolia tree in my front yard that a main branch snapped off of in the last major snow storm we had. The once-beautiful tree looked awful with a huge hole in the front foliage. Chris skillfully guided his crew in a pruning of the tree that has helped it grow back evenly. Now it is looking great. They have done several pruning projects for me, as well as a couple of tree removals. They do consistently excellent work, and I plan to continue using them in the future.
