I needed a quote for a huge old Silver Maple that came with a house we just purchased and did not look too healthy. I also wanted a quote to clean-up the two large Doug Firs and the removal of a birch that was leaning dangerously into the neighbors yard. I reached out to three arborists. Paithen (owner and operator of Spiral Tree LLC) was the quickest to respond and his communication was always fast and accurate. I did get quotes from all three and Patihen's were either on-par or a little (but not much) higher. He also ended up matching the quote he gave me for the removal of the birch to a lower quote I got. Out of all 3 quotes I got, Paithen's was also the ONLY one who said he was willing to try and save the maple. The others were only willing to cut it down, which is much more expensive. Paithen and his crew did a ton of work on he maple and in the end had to prune back much more then they had anticipated on that and the other trees, but did not charge more. Spiral-Tree's expertise, experience, competence and coordinated teamwork was evident in their work with us. The entire experience was pleasant in working circumstances that must have been less than ideal for them --even though they didn't seem to mind. For example, they had to move most debris by hand for hundreds of feet through garden artwork, fixtures and gates, And negotiate with the public while operating in the space of a long narrow driveway. Spiral Tree's workers integrated well with our priority to want what the trees want. They preserved a vintage Douglas Fir and Cedar from certain peril to perhaps qualify as city heritage trees with an extended life. Great work from the Spiral Tree crew -- cutting up and removing a large tree that fell on our house during the snow and ice weather in January 2017. Tree was very strategically and carefully cut so as not to damage house. Then the log-size cut sections were stacked neatly in our yard. After chipper work was done, clean up was thorough and all debris was removed. This work was done with snow and slush still on the ground. Very experienced and competent crew with excellent work ethic , and the job was very fairly priced. We will have Spiral Tree help us this spring with additional tree removal and pruning. I hired Spiral Tree on recommendation and was really happy I did. I had a hedge that wasn't doing very well, a beautiful maple that needed thinning (it looks gorgeous!), and a birch tree that was dying and needed to be removed. Paithen is the guy on the end of the phone and is very knowledgable and nice to work with. He took time to explain what he was going to do and gave me advice about how to take better care of the problematic hedge. All of the jobs were done quickly and very well and for a fair price. Spiral Tree came highly recommended by our neighbors. With winter storms on the horizon, owner, Paithen came to assess which limbs/trees presented hazards on our property. What I appreciate is that Paithen takes a cautious approach to tree removal.....he is all about saving trees, not removing them. He determined that our large sweet gum tree whose canopy hung precariously over our house was diseased and rotting hence needed to be removed. I don't normally write reviews, however, after dealing with the unsatisfactory work performed by a different tree trimming company, I feel it is necessary to inform people to get this type of work done by someone you can trust. I contacted Paithen initially for a consultation to fix the issues of my poorly trimmed Japanese maple tree. Working with Paithen was a great pleasure. He contacted the neighbors who shared the problem tree with me, and was able to expedite the pruning and removal processes easily. The total bill was less than the proposed written estimate. Paithen explained that a clear assessment of the tree's health can only be done while in the tree. The job took less time for them so I was charged less. These guys are arborists rather than mere loggers. I contacted Spiral Tree for an elderly neighbor who had a large tree that fell down over his house. Part of the tree was hanging over the glass roof of an atrium, so they used ropes and pulleys to carefully maneuver the tree parts as they sawed them away. I was able to watch a lot of the process as I worked from my home office and they really blew me away with their expertise. The price was fair and they were very courteous and professional. Paiten and his crew did a great job pruning a large Doug fir, a large box elder and a smaller maple. He was on the job for all the decisions as the cutting affected our privacy from neighbors. They were well equipped with safety equipment and worked tirelessly. All the debris was removed except branches they cut to length and stacked for firewood at our request. Great company to work with. It took a few days for them to reply to my email request for service but they are honest and do great work. I had several trees pruned and one tree had to be removed because it was about to fall down. He even did an additional amount of work as an add on and gave me a very fair bid!!
