The lack of communication is the worst I've ever seen with any contractor I've ever hired. When they came to do the work, they just showed up unannounced. I was at work, but thankfully, my husband was home to meet with them. I was told we would pick the paint color for our decks. Not true. The worker just went out, bought the paint and started applying it. He did not bother checking with my husband, who again was home working. We were not given paint swatches to choose from. We spent a lot of money to have our decks built, but I am so furious because they are now this awful orangish brown that does not match the rest of our house colors. Unbelievable. read more

We live in the Towne Lake area of Woodstock. Believe it or not, our 4-sided hard-coat stucco home hadn't been painted since it was built 20 years ago. The stucco was looking dry and faded and some of the trim had started rotting (particularly around certain windows). So I started getting free estimates. Richard and I walked around the house and he noted everything that needed to be repaired. Then he gave us a very competitive quote that included extras like a free upgrade to Sherwin-Williams Duration paint. I wanted to use Loxon XP on the stucco and Richard also quoted that upgrade at his cost. Some local painters quoted us more than TWICE the price of One Man and A Brush for our exterior paint job! We wanted to stay with the same colors, but didn't know the exact paint or formulas originally used. Richard paid for a Sherwin-Williams Color Consultant to come out and help us decide colors. Once that was complete, we were put on the schedule. Hector and his crew showed up the first day on-time and ready to pressure wash the exterior. Every afternoon they cleaned up and left our yard looking uncluttered. Every morning they were on-time and ready to work. When they finished, my wife and I walked around the house with Hector and couldn't find anything wrong or that needed correcting. How GREAT is that?!? Trying to find dependable painters at an affordable price can be a stressful experience. That's why I recommend contacting Richard and including One Man and A Brush in your free estimates. In the end we paid for paint that we had already paid for and the owner sent us a final invoice and never came to see the project before we were sent the invoice. We had a very bad experience. Owner wasn't very friendly and wouldn't come back out to see the poor work his men did. His workers didn't come prepared and had to use our ladder and our paint trays. Needed at least 30 spots repainted or touched up. Not at all the high quality of craftsmanship I expected seeing they were not the cheapest bid. read more

my experience with one manandabrush was an enjoyable one. I had to have the interior of my entire townhouse painted, and Richards bid was by far the most detailed and professional. His bid was not the lowest or highest, it fell somewhere in the middle BUT the quality of the paint job they did was worth much more than i paid. I recently contracted with One Man and a Brush for the exterior painting of my home. What I got? One hundred percent more than I expected. Richard, the owner, met with me for the proposal and explained the process. It sounded great! The price was more than fair; in hindsight, it is hard to believe what I got for my money! Pressure wash to remove dirt, grime and mold? Not only the house but the gutters and windows. The workers diligently controlled the pressure application and the results were unbelievable. Caulk every seam? He means EVERY SEAM! The paint was applied meticulously, two coats of superior paint is their standard. Railings, hardware and incidental details were given expert attention.
