**** I am re-posting my review because it was taken down in error as I DID have first hand experience with this firm on 2 occasions. I first spoke to Jennifer and then the owner Sara. On both occasions my experience was appalling. I am passionate about this as in this day and age companies like this should not exist and I want to bring public awareness to this issue. Here is my story. **** I was discriminated against by the firm a few days ago. In a nut shell, my race (black), size (not petite), height (above 5'4') and the fact that I was not from america disqualified me from getting matched by this firm. This was said me by Jennifer (a matchmaker) and was confirmed by the owner of the company Sara Smith. I called the firm to enlist their matchmaking services. I spoke to one of the matchmakers and after speaking to me for about 2-3 minutes she asked me if I was black. You see, I have an accent as I am from Sweden but was born in Kenya. She said she asked the question as she was trying to place my accent. Hmmm....?! After speaking to her for a few minutes, she proceeded to tell me that she was not going to be able help me as her male clients were not open to dating outside their race. Not to mention, the fact that I am not from the US, this too added a unique spin which made matching me difficult. Her company has had a difficult time matching black clients and she was telling me this because she did not want to set me up for failure. The owner of the company promptly called me the next day actually making excuses for her employee and stating that this employee "usually speaks without thinking and that this could be exacerbated by the fact that she was pregnant. I told her no excuse was acceptable for discrimination and lack of respect. She continued to say that her company did not match black clients successfully. She had 7 black females, which she was having the hardest time sending on dates. It did help however that they were "5'4' and petite" of which I am not. So the fact that I was black, 5'9' and not petite made working with me difficult. She continued to tell me that she could not make her clients date outside their race and that we live in the south where mixing races was frowned upon. Not once did she apologize for how I was treated instead she asked me to take down the review as her company could be impacted negatively. She did say that she would make sure that her employees went to a course "how to treat other races" I quickly told her ..."how about just treating your fellow man with mutual respect". It is sad that in this day and age, where there is so much hate and war, a company that claims to promote love is filled with so much hate and will not embrace other colors or races. Worse still is the fact that Sara did not see a problem with this interaction. read more

I have been working with Jennifer and One-on-One for over a year now and have had an overall great experience. In my first year I was set up on a lot of first dates (way more than I had anticipated which was great!). I can honestly say that 85-90% of my matches were really good dates. All were really nice, normal gentlemen who I enjoyed meeting. Not all of them were a love connection but it was very obvious why they thought this person was a good match for me which is great. I feel like One-on-One has a good database to pull from and is very upfront and honest about it. There were times when I would call asking for my next match and instead of setting me up just to set me up, they would tell me they have a guys but none of them are a good fit for me which I really appreciated (who wants to waste showering and makeup on that?). And the other 10% of dates? Well, you can't win 'em all. No nightmares thank god but a few where the matchmaking wheels happened to come off ;) After my first year I decided to cheat on One-on-One (gasp!) and went with another Match Making service in Atlanta. This other service was a total scam, they took my money and told me they had a massive database which I learned was clearly not true. It was a disaster and they didn't take the time to get to know me and what I'm looking for. So needless to say I'm getting my money back from them and here I am, 4 months later back at One-on-One where they already have a list of potential matches and I cannot wait to get started again ;) Here's the deal - the key to all of this is to go in with an open mind. If you think you're going to be set up with your ideal man right out of the gate, this probably isn't for you. If you're willing to go out and meet people and are open to being flexible on all the "must haves" on your fantasy list, this is absolutely something I would recommend. I mean, they do ALL the work for you. No swiping, no stupid winking and no painful ice breakers. Worst case you have to sit through a boring date. We can all manage to do anything for an hour. I've gone on several dates so far, and I've met some great people! I'm still friends with a few matches that didn't work out romantically. I think one of the most valuable and unforeseen advantages of working with them is what's not in the agreement, though: you learn a lot about yourself in the process. And, for those back on the scene after a LTR, it may be exactly what you need. It was for me. I couldn't be happier with the experience. It's the best investment I've ever made for myself. After being out of the dating scene for a little while and never having used a dating service of any kind I wasn't sure if the matchmaker service was for me. I feel like sometimes it's difficult to find the right, conducive environment to meet people to potentially date. I signed up for one on one matchmaking earlier this year. I really didn't know what to expect, but I'm very glad I did. The key to the success is telling whoever you work with what your looking for, traits your desire in a partner/date and feedback after a date so they can make any adjustments and know what they're doing right. I've really only used one of the matchmakers and outside of one bad date, all the dates have been enjoyable, all the girls I've been out with have been attractive and have a lot going for them. This isn't to say that I've had chemistry with all of them or that we've had a connection, I've been out with a few for second dates and a recent girl I've gone out with quite a few times. They will give you information about the person you'll be going out with and set a time and location for the date. After the date you can give them feedback on how it went so they can plan other dates or you can stick with the same person if you choose to do so. The thing I enjoy the most is the connection/communication with the matchmaker, they really want to find someone for you. They keep you updated on potential dates and are always a phone call away. The day I decided to join a matchmaking service was a big step for me. Little did I know that from the moment I put my first foot forward and chose One on One Matchmaking Service, it would be the first step of one of the greatest choices of my life. Overall I have been rather pleased with my experience with One on One Matchmaking. I haven't found the right one yet but the girls so far are professional and have listened to all of my critiques to get me closer to what i expect which is not easy to do if you knew me well. :) If I ever have any concerns, they take me out to lunch and we talk about changes that need to be made going forward; I have enjoyed that one on one attention and genuine concern. At first, I was only meeting other clients, but they have started going out and searching for women who fit my specific type. They have assured me these women are still being interviewed before I meet them. It's nice to feel heard and be able to go on a date with someone and know I am meeting a quality person. Also, I live North of Atlanta and they take that into consideration by trying to find a middle area between me and my date. If you want to feel taken care of and less stressed about dating, I would definitely recommend One on One Matchmaking. They make matches based on common interests, professional and education level, age, personality compatibility, etc. They are caring relationship facilitators who contact their members before a date to provide information and after a date in order to assess how the prospective partner was perceived. They help promote next steps if needed and the staff is invested in our relationship success. Their concern is apparent and appreciated. In addition, the dinners are held at interesting, upscale restaurants with an ambiance intended to encourage a relaxed reaction. I am forever indebted to One on One...I own a business and have a very active social life, both keep me extremely busy, which in turn doesn't leave me a lot of time to spend clicking through profiles or going on date after date of people I meet out and about. I joined One on One 2 months ago after having a rather poor experience at SIngles Atlanta. The attitude and service at 1 on 1 is far superior to the other agency. The matchmakers are very involved in all of the matches and really take an interest as you as a person. I have been out with several men that were all great and I look forward to my next match.
