The ladies at the front desk were just the friendliest people you could ever meet. They were able to answer all my questions and also my wife's questions with straight answers and gave me some great opinions on how I could get started. Within a few days, I was in a classroom with Mark training and preparing myself for the CDL permit test. Mark is a great teacher, he was funny and very detailed oriented. He had a way of making sure class didn't get too boring. Thanks to Mark, I was able to pass my permit test on my first try only missing one question. After I obtained my permit, it was time to start hands-on training out in the yard. This is where I got nervous because I don't always get along with other people. Especially people with chips on their shoulder. Once I got out there I realized it was all in my head. Because the students and staff out in the yard were justice friendly as the staff in the office and it made it very easy to want to come back every day. To me, it felt like being a kid again just hanging out with my friends at the playground. Of all the students I became friends with there are 3 that really stand out to me... Andrew, Lionel & Onay I appreciate you guys' and your friendship. I wish you guys the best of luck, happiness and a safe journey in life. The instructors out in the yard were absolutely fantastic. The 3 instructors that I worked with the most where Mona, Tony and Markell. They always showed up to the yard with great attitudes. They never let their personal lives interfere or affect how they were teaching the students. Tony was really good about letting me drive around at my own pace, learning how to shift in and out of the gears properly. Markell was fantastic at keeping me motivated and teaching me a lot about the different size trailers and how each one maneuvers differently. He was also able to help me out with my exterior pre-trip inspection. He taught me a few things I didn't know and helped me get ready for the big test day. Mona is an absolute rock star!! She really went above and beyond helping me every step of the way, and any time I ask for a little more assistance with anything she made sure I got it. She taught me everything I needed to know about my in cab pre-trip inspection and my offset parking. She really went above and beyond helping me get ready for my road test. My driving was rough, but it wasn't bad. Mona took me out and made sure I was ready for those tight right turns and curvy roads. Mona, I can't thank you enough. You didn't have to invest your time in me But you did it anyway, and I appreciate you and everything you did for me. Mona, Tony, Markell, Andrew, Lionel and Onay.... The instructor are very patient with all the students, also the admissions team were also great and were always available if there were questions or issues. I recommend this trucking school to anyone who interested in driving professionally. This school also has multiple trucks all in excellent condition and they use 53 foot trailers during training just like the ones you will be using once you become a professional driver. Once you finish your training you will return to the school for your DMV driving tests instead of having to go to the DMV to complete. You won't regret choosing Ahern ACT for your trucking school.

We came in here to try to apply for Medicaid after moving from Illinois. It isn't easy-- it's as if the applicant is assumed to be a scammer. I'm diabetic. I haven't had prescription coverage for the whole 6 months we have been here. My husband is disabled. He's been in the hospital several times and this was the first time we could both come in since September-- which was the last time that we could both come in. Last time we tried was at a different location so that's not relevant here except to note that they requested more proof of income and a letter from Illinois to confirm that benefits had ended. Nobody in Illinois was answering the phone, so we ended up waiting until benefits (which only covered his emergency room visits) expired. That wasn't good enough. Fine. I understand bureaucracy... but the way this worker glared at me and "who is this? What's her name? Oh... the wife." I'm sitting in the car crying while David tries to detach our "cases" so that he can see a doctor for follow up after a stroke. This is sick.

I was hoping for a great class based on the reviews, and the itinerary listed. However, the class was not ideal. * Only practiced CPR on adult and infant manikins once with no practice for child CPR procedures. * No hands-on training for AED use, choking response, or first aid procedures. * Approximately 30 students with only 3 adult and 3 infant manikins available for training. They appeared to be unprepared for the number of attendees as seats were slowly coming into an already packed room for each new person that came through the door. This created a disorganized atmosphere, and gave the impression that they did not know how many students had registered for the class. * Instructor was often difficult to hear due to soft speaking and noise outside of the classroom. * Assistant was unavailable to assist instructor in observing the hands-on CPR practice stating that they were doing a test during the class. * Many participants appeared to be performing compressions incorrectly, as the feedback lights were frequently red or off, indicating improper compression depth, hand placement, or technique. Nothing was corrected. * Text message notifications repeatedly appeared on the presentation screen, including one with derogatory language. I found this to be unprofessional, distracting, and awkward. * Course was advertised as 2 hours but ended after about 1.5 hours. * Final material was rushed, leaving little time for questions or additional practice. * Left feeling unprepared and disappointed with the overall quality of the training. I understand that unexpected issues can arise, but I am disappointed by the lack of organization, instruction, and structure in a class that teaches critical lifesaving skills. I plan to get better training in a CPR, AED, and First Aid class somewhere else.
