On my latest purchase, I was "sold" the exceptional value of a 3 year pre-paid maintenance plan. After bringing my Defender in for its first service, here is the real story: - 36mo/36,000 mile plan (service provided every 12 months or 12,000 miles): $2,750 - Actual value of services provided based on plan limitations, exclusions (ie the small print): $488.93 x 3 = $1,466.79 Turns out this plan only covers basic lube/oil/filter and 4 wheel alignment REGARDLESS of what is actually prescribed by the manufacturer. Long story short, I paid a premium of $1,265 above and beyond the actual dealer full retail cost. Dealers are known for scams like this but I really didn't expect it from Land Rover Frisco...especially knowing I am a frequent flier Land Rover owner. I blame ownership for the shady practices and being short sighted. This is sleazy and they know it. Perfect way to lose long time customers. Do better!

So far, I haven't had any issues and going into the branch, has been pleasant. I will say, the "freeze" option they have for their debit card, I feel, is somewhat pointless. It is great when traveling or if you're wanting to avoid unknown fees, but that's as far as it goes. With USAA, I would freeze my card and that froze all transactions that were trying to be submitted. Navy, it still allows transactions for merchants that you've used your debit cards for. Other than that, I really enjoy Navy!

Now my first payment is due in 5/12 and they can't correct my phone number for 7 to 12 days ( past my due date). Anika from so called Presidents office gave me her private phone number with Ext. O to directly reach her. It was total B.S.; the number put me through their boiler room of agents who don't speak clear English. Capital One Finance is a Cluster F##ck of incompetent employees and you have to tell the AUTOMATED SYSTEM requesting AGENT several times before you're connected to an agent (never same one) with terrible English. I have a credit card with Capital One for 10 years and have no complaints-very professional. I recommend finding your own finance company and be pre approved before dealing with Capital One before purchasing car. I financed a vehicle through Capital One via Modern Auto Sales, and it's been a nightmare. The…read moredealership committed fraud by misrepresenting the car's history and demanding $434 in undisclosed fees. They are the subject of an active criminal investigation by the Hollywood Police Department for theft and extortion. Despite providing Capital One with a signed contract showing "N/A" for these fees and a police report, they told me to "work directly with the dealership", the same dealership under criminal investigation. Capital One is protecting a fraudster and ignoring their own legal liability. DO NOT trust Capital One or the dealerships they recommend. Get an independent inspection and verify all costs in writing before signing anything.
