    CapEd Credit Union

    CapEd Credit Union

The credit union confiscated his debit card and refused to return it…read more March 12, 2026 I was going to run some errands and my roommate (also xhusband of 20 years) asks if I can swing by his CapEd Credit Union and make a DEPOSIT for him. Something I have done, for 41 years, hundreds of times before for several family members and friends at several different banks throughout the years. Making a cash deposit at a bank/credit union has never been an issue....until.... I drive to CapEd at 7450 W Thunderbolt Drive in Boise, ID. I plan to use their atm. It's not working. What was supposed to be a 2 minute atm transaction turns into a 2 hour long horrible experience. So now I have to use their drive thru teller service. I grab the tube n toss in my roommates debit card and his cash. I send it off and a few moments later a teller appears on the screen. "Hello Kevin..." He says, confused because I am a female. I say "Ooh hi I am Kevin's roommate. I tried to use your atm but it's not working. Can you just deposit that cash for him into his account please. Thanks." Teller says he will need my ID first. I say okay no problem and send my ID. Now a different teller comes on the screen and I repeat to her "Ooh hi I am Kevin's roommate. I tried to use your atm but it's not working. Can you just deposit that cash for him into his account please?" She says "So our policy says that we cannot do your deposit and at this time now we cannot give you the debit card back either. We can only release it to the person whose name is on the card and your name isn't on it. You're not getting the card back. Sorry." I say..."What? Are you joking? I've done this so many times before and it has never been an issue." She says "Nope. Not joking. You're not getting the debit card back." I sternly say "Yes I am. You will return my items. My ID, the cash and the debit card I sent you. Now. I am not joking." She says snarky "Nope we won't. We don't have to. You aren't getting it back. Have a nice day. Goodbye." She turns the screen off. I collect my ID and the cash and go inside where I am promptly met by the bank manager waiting for me at the counter. "Yes I want the debit card I sent thru your drive thru back." "Due to our policy" she says "that's not going to happen, we are unable to release his debit card to you. It's not yours. We are keeping the card safe until Kevin can come in and retrieve it." "Safe?!" Then I explain that "He is my roommate and my xhusband of 20 years. We have the same address. You can check his information. You have his info. You can contact Kevin and get his permission for you to give me his card back." She replies "Ooh we are contacting him, don't you worry." I say "Great! Then you can get his permission." She says "Nope. You aren't getting his card back. We are contacting him to let him know we have found his card and it's safely in our possession." I tell her "This shouldn't have happened at all. I originally tried to use your atm machine. It didn't work BUT IF I had used the atm after making the deposit it would have returned his debit card to me. Correct?! Yes that is correct. If your atm doesn't have this made up policy of keeping someone's debit card then why does the credit union do this? Don't you have the same policies as your own atm? Logically I should get the card I had back without question. It's just a deposit." She says "Yes the atm would have given you the card back but we aren't going to." "That doesn't make any sense! Give me his card." I said louder then I explain that Kevin is handicapped and rarely leaves the house which is why I usually do this for him. For years I've made deposits for him at this exact credit union and it's never been an issue before. I've never heard of this policy that they are now enforcing out of the blue. For no apparent reason. She says she doesn't care what I say and it doesn't matter what I want. Then the manager says "It's our policy." I ask her to show me the policy or any notice or poster anywhere where this policy is stated. "I don't have to show you anything." She replies. Sharp and rude. I ask if this is a policy they implement regularly because surely other people have done this same thing. Making a deposit for someone else has to be pretty common. She admits "Sure family members or even friends share their debit cards. All the time actually. It's pretty common." I say "So you admit this is common and happens often but for no reason you are using this new policy against me for no apparent reason." She smiles. I call Kevin. As he answers the phone he says the bank just called him to let him know they had "found" his card and are keeping it"safe" for him until he can retrieve it from the bank. He told them "wtf are you talking about? My roommate was trying to deposit some cash for me and you guys stole my debit card from her. Give it back to her. You didn't find it she gave it to you. She is trying to DEPOSIT money INTO my account... this doesn't make any sense. This

This particular Moneytree Store #41 has the absolute best staff. All pretty too, LOL…read more Truly, when I have financial difficulties I have found the options available at Moneytree very useful. I often use my car's ownership certificate, a 2001 Nissan Maxima, to get a loan. I can modify the loan 3 times if I underestimated my needs on the first visit. They make it so easy because their Staff are wizards at completing the transactions and are very friendly in explaining the options and what I am signing. This next thing is a biggie for me, NO they don't need to keep your car when you make a loan like other money stores. As you are aware, interest can be a killer no matter who you chose, so it is encouraged that you pay off the loan quickly- which I usually do within a couple of weeks. I have a checking account at Chase Bank and have been for a long time. They laugh when I ask them for a loan. Go see the girls there or just call and they can explain all the options you have @ 208 887-6669. I can't always make it to the Store, but no worries because you can make payments and even apply for some loan types online. I keep my profile up to date in case I need to get er' done quickly. Keep your paycheck stubs as you may need recent ones.. You can't go wrong with Moneytree, but as always, be responsible. Peace and Love to all beings! Bob

I bought a used car a couple of months ago and had a 3 month 3k mile warranty that came with the car. After a trip to Arizona I had a couple of things I wanted to get checked out. First, Dawn went above and beyond to get us a vehicle while ours was getting checked out. We had also just been in a head on collision that totaled our other truck. So we desperately needed a loaner vehicle. Riley who organizes the loaners was as friendly as can be. And lastly, Torey was simply incredible. He kept me in the loop as to what was happening while they had the vehicle. Once it was diagnosed he was a great advocate for what needed to be done to fix the issues. Extremely knowledgeable and was able to pass on all that information to me and graciously deal with a multitude of questions. Kendall Ford has done a great job putting together an excellent team in their service department! Truly the best customer service I've had in a long time, if not the best. And additionally our sales person, Deigo who we worked with is excellent. We will be shopping with him again, now for a new truck. Highly recommend working with Kendall!

There is very little I hate more than leaving a 1-star review for any business. I bend over…read morebackwards to give companies second, third, and fourth chances to make things right. But when a business can't even be bothered to pretend they care, then I feel obligated to warn other people. This dealership simply does not care. I supposedly still have two "free" oil changes through them, but dealing with this place is so frustrating and stressful that I paid out of pocket to have my truck serviced somewhere else rather than go back there. When we first went in looking for a vehicle, they sent out an unbelievably untrained salesperson who knew absolutely nothing about the truck he was selling. He flat-out lied about multiple options and features, and when we later discovered the truth, management's response was essentially: "Can you prove he told you that?" That tells you everything you need to know about this dealership. Since then, things have only gotten worse. We have repeatedly tried contacting their accessories department and nobody ever calls back. When I finally got angry about being ignored, somehow it became MY fault again. Their response? "Have you tried coming into the dealership in person?" Seriously? There are a few genuinely good employees there who seem to care, and I honestly feel bad for them because the overall culture and management are terrible. Accountability does not exist here. You cannot trust a single thing you are told unless you independently verify it yourself. Our salesperson literally pulled the original window sticker from the glovebox and pointed directly at a package he claimed included the Bang & Olufsen sound system and the 360 camera system I specifically wanted. Later, when we discovered those features were NOT included, the dealership again hid behind the same pathetic excuse: "Can you prove he said that?" Apparently having both my wife and me standing there hearing it with our own ears wasn't enough. Instead of fixing the problem, they just kept sending the same clueless salesperson back out. If you are shopping for a vehicle, understand this dealership is worse than the stereotype people joke about. Do not take anything they say at face value. Verify every single promise, every option, every feature, and every word in writing -- because once they have your money, accountability disappears

There's only three types of businesses that put me on the defense, Used Car dealers, Furniture…read morestores, and Jewelry stores. My daughter called me to tell me that she was going to see a car at Auto Star Motors and her appointment was with Steve. My "Spidey Sense" was tingling and I was on a Star Trek "Red Alert". I did a Google search, followed by some review of the model and make on Kelly Blue Book, then to Car Fax. I was prepared for the showdown. We arrived on time and let Steve finish with his previous appointment. The office is clean, neat, professional looking. We didn't get that sleazy used car dealer feeling which was a positive first impression. The car, a Subaru Crosstrek looked good and we took it for a drive in the chilly December evening. I talked to my daughter and asked what type of down payment was she going to propose. She had a plan but I was still on the defense. So many stories of customers getting screwed from used cars dealers and I have had my own personal experiences with my brother in law right here in Boise. We get back and it's time for 'Let's make a deal' The good news is that the car looked and performed well. The car fax info matched what I saw online earlier and the price was good. My daughter's trade in was on its last two wheels but Steve wanted to check it out and after his test drive, I was thankful he was still alive. He was more than up front and generous with trade in value of her car and she had some cash to put down. While I was feeling a little better about Auto Star Motors and Steve, I wasn't completely convinced. I showed Steve some of the Yelp reviews and I wanted him to provide some context. He was very transparent throughout which I appreciated. It was at that point that I told my daughter that even though I was feeling better about this whole process that she would wait until she had some more money for a down payment. I explained to Steve why I felt that and my overall concern for my daughter. It was at this point that we talked like two Dads sitting at a coffee shop. He was open, genuine and reassuring. Not once did I feel that we were getting bamboozled. I relayed my concerns and trepidations and Steve was receptive and made the efforts to understand my concerns and assured me that my daughter would be taken care of. I went home to get to the title for her jalopy aka death trip and returned back at the office. The financing was done through Capital One and my daughter knows that if she has any issues she can bring the car back to Steve and his team at Auto Star I purposely waiting to do this review almost 30 days to see how the car performs and to make sure that there weren't any issues. I'm glad to report that there hasn't been a single issue with the car or with Auto Star Motors. The experience with Steve was not a battle that I prepared for but instead was two guys who had a common goal of making sure that my daughter was safe and not getting a bad deal. Thanks Steve for making my daughter's first car shopping experience a positive one. You earned the 5 Stars.
