The CC branch staff were friendly and they mostly did what they needed to...eventually. But the Ashmont branch has much more competent staff. Eastern Bank is one of the few local banks you have to choose from in Boston, and you should. If you're still putting your money in Bank of America or Citizens you are either a FOOL or a greedy capitalism who doesn't care if your money is improving your community and the world. If it's the former, go ahead and make the switch. If it's the latter, carry on. I just probably don't want to know you personally.

On two separate occasions, this bank lost money orders that our church deposited from a vendor. These were not errors on our end--the issue occurred during the bank's handling of the deposits. Regardless of the cause, customers should not be held financially responsible for internal processing failures. As a church, we require a financial institution that processes deposits accurately and takes responsibility when errors occur. Based on these repeated incidents, we have remove our personal funds and moved our church accounts to a more reliable and accountable bank. We expected a higher standard of service and accountability

WORST. BANK. EVER. Avoid at all costs. Most frustrating and incompetent bank I've ever dealt with…read more My father had a HELOC and a checking account at Citizens Bank, and when he passed away, I paid off the HELOC and tried to close the accounts. I am my father's executor and I have all the documents (death certificate, letters of authority etc) to prove it. I live in CA and they have no branches here so I have to do it by phone. I've had many, many phone calls with them and every time I get a different story and they ask me for something new. I've sent in the info they requested by physical mail, email and fax, but they still won't close the accounts. It's a nightmare. And whenever you send them any new information, it takes several weeks to get posted in their system.
