I am new to gravel biking and went out of my area specifically to this shop because of their…read morereviews thinking they would support me through the process. My first trip out went well. I explained what I wanted out of the bike. Type of things I would be doing. salesperson did great matching me perfectly with what I wanted out of a bike. and that is where it stopped. Ordered a Salsa GRX 610. After a week and a half had to call to see if it was in and ready. Was told it was in and ready for pick up. Let them know I'd be in the next day. Got out of work an hour early so I could pick up my bike and have plenty of time between them and an appointment I had later that evening. I decided to go for their store card because it was interest free , would give me extra spending cash for the summer. Could just pay it off. None of the staff present knew how to process the card. After 45 minutes of trying to call the card company and large amount of humiliation I left Because i was now 30 min late for my appointment. and had not brought a back up payment because I thought I was set. I came back the next day this time w back up payment. im assuming it was store manger or owner processed the store card with zero issues. I was handed my bike. My fitting consisted of sitting on my seat to see if it was too tall or short. That was the extent of that. I had just bought a bike rack. the Kaut Sherpa II. Pretty straightforward rack I had practiced putting a road bike on a couple days before but was nervous about it and asked if I could have some help loading. When I went to pick the bike up to put on I was corrected and told to turn it around. I asked If he was sure. He said yes. i figured maybe being new I messed up or was remembering something wrong . He's the bike expert And they sell this very rack So I had him load it. Got home my husband came out and said oh my God! You loaded your bike wrong! the guy put the cane holder on my back tire and the small strap through my front. Thankfully nothing happened to it driving down the thru way!! Got my bike off noticed one of my valve stem covers were gone. talking w friends and family I was asked when I take my bike back to have complimentary look to ensure everything is ok. I said I have no idea. No one said anything. I was told this is a courtesy most bike shops offer. My husband who bought a bike at the same time locally and paid less than half of what I did was offered this service as well. So I sent an email about all of the above on 7/21 still no response as of this review . I recently took my bike out for a second ride. Kept dealing with shifting issues and saddle sores. Both things I thought maybe were related to me not knowing what I'm doing yet. looked at my bike yesterday noticed surface rust all over the chain and cogs. While this may be normal it seemed a little excessive given I've only had this bike for a few weeks and ridden it twice. So we put it on bike rack to oil. Thinking they must not have added anything to the chain being why I was dealing w hard shifting and skipping. Running through the gears it started skipping bad. My husband suggested I take it to where he bought his bike to at least see if it's a bike issue that this shop needs to address or user issue. Thank God I did! When I got there. The guy had me ride it up and down parking lot. On sight he said the nose of my seat was too high seat was crooked. derailleur was crooked ( not aligned). He brought my bike in. put it on stand and said they never looked at your derailleur from the factory. He popped it off and said smell that? Smells like gun smoke. It's from the factory. He also said tension was super loose. He adjusted all that. Also noted my back disc was pushing in my break. He straightened that out. Then fitted me on my bike. My bike feels much more comfortable to sit on and shifts so smoothly now and my breaks are so touchy that I have to be super careful. This shop was Kind and did not charge me for their services. Provided some additional beginner bike tips To help me along. They saved me from a potentially expensive mess! Made me realize I should have gone to them in the first place. I Highly recommend going elsewhere , especially if you are new to the biking world.

The rental includes a helmet and bike lock. I'm more comfortable riding a tricycle at home for running errands, but Laurence was very patient as I became re-accustomed to riding a two-wheeler, helping me find a bike that was the right size for me, adjusting the seat and handle bars, and walking me through how to charge the bike and use the electric throttle. The electric motor was very helpful as I rode around Itacha's steep hills. All in all, the rental process was easy and the bike was fantastic!

Though I've only tested the rental bikes (including electric!) I haven't needed to rent one as I have my own--but such a great option for people visiting town, especially now with the Cayuga Waterfront Trail and other bicycle infrastructure that make conditions here better. People are newer to biking, especially those with kids, surely appreciate these improvements. When I have had one of my two bicycles serviced there (numerous times by now) the turnover time is quick and the prices are reasonable. I'm taking my winter bike in to Boxy Bikes tomorrow for some service before that road salt comes out! A great, reliable Local Bike Shop!
