Kayaking right out the back door of our vacation rental house. So accessible even for 1st time kayakers!

Online and text communications made it simple for us to arrange 3-day kayak rentals during our vacation week on Keuka Lake. Thanks so much for upping our fun!!

Amy S.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Penn Yan and walked over on a weekday morning to rent kayaks. We wanted to rent a tandem kayak but they were all on the water at 10:30a so we rented 2 kayaks for 2 hours for $40. I'd recommend reserving if you are on a time schedule or want to rent something specific. The man helped us into our kayaks and instructed us to pull them out of the water on the dock when we returned. We really enjoyed our 2 hours of kayaking, and spent some time enjoying the lily pad, taking photos of ducks, and eventually exploring the lake. I had a little trouble docking and getting out of my kayak. Luckily my husband was there to help. Definitely check out the Blue Heron Bakery before or after!

Awesome kayaking on the lake. Owner is very nice and patient. Very easy to paddle at your own speed. We rented a double and single. Everything was clean and newer. Bikes look fun too, on the Outlet trail or around town.

It's the best place to rent bikes to go along the trail and see the waterfalls. They have new bikes and it's good for groups.

Ok! Where to begin here. Obviously the Finger Lakes is a…read moremajor tourist attraction in central New York. One lake is particular is Seneca Lake. How do I know that? Well, 1) if you've seen the area you know why lol and 2) I grew up in Geneva. Recently, I went home for a month. Got back July 9th. So not that long ago from the time I wrote this review. My friends from high school and I all got together a couple days before I left back for Idaho. I've known these girls for 30-35 years. So time with them is very special to me. My one friend has a boat. So our last outing before my holiday ended was...on her boat. We were out for a few hours and picked up her daughter and another friend at the long pier on Seneca Lake. It's a beautiful pier which means...lots of people flock there especially during summer months. We had been out for a few hours (as mentioned) and we wanted something to eat. There is an ice cream place right there at the entrance of the pier and it's called...Long Pier Ice Cream! I was pretty stoked to get ice cream bc we had been tubing and swimming and I was hungry, but didn't want full on dinner bc we were going back out. There were 8 of us on the boat. We all got ice cream. The place, again RIGHT on the pier, was obviously busy bc hello! Summer! It was legit 90° that day and humid. Naturally an ice cream stand would be busy and a great place to stop at. Which brings me to the staff. For the most part they were friendly. However, there was one girl and of course I didn't get names UGH! I think anyone on the staff will know EXACTLY who I'm talking about bc I guarantee this isn't her first time being an absolute ray of sunshine (insert sarcasm) She had long dark hair, glasses, short, and speaking of short, she was VERY short with every customer. EVERY! one. of. them. Now I ordered a "medium chocolate in a dish with rainbow sprinkles" It's the same thing I order at all these ice cream places. With THEEEE biggest attitude and taking snotty to another level, she lets out this lonnnng sigh and says "we DON'T HAVE medium! We have either regular! or large!" Followed by a semi-eye roll and another sigh. If y'all could have seen the look of shock and confusion on my face lol...bc I asked a simple question. To myself, I thought..weird and why is she being SO rude? So I asked, ok so what's the difference between the regular and the large? Again with the long siiiiiiiiiigh! "Ugh regular has like 6-7 swirls and a large ugh had 8-9!" I mean, if I could record how she was to me, it'd be better lol. Seriously, this girl HATES her job. So I ordered the regular. Now tell me this...WHYYYY would you EVER want to work at an ice cream shop ON. THE. LAKE! in the middle of summer, on a hot ass day like July 6th 2024! And have THEEE worst attitude to not just me! But to literally everyone I was with and everyone else in line. I watched her treat everyone with this unbelievable amount of disrespect. So again, WHY?! work at THAT particular ice cream or any for that matter...when you KNOW the place will always be busy? If you cannot handle a simple question as "what's the difference between a regular and a large?" then MAYBE...JUST....MAYBE! you should NOT be working with the public and ESPECIALLY with the public...at....you guessed it..:an ice cream shop..on a lake..in the middle of summer on one of the hottest days! Everyone in my party all had the same reaction to this girl and her sorry attitude. Now don't get me wrong, if any of us were being rude, I would gladly admit that or even better...I just wouldn't write a review. I do not like writing bad reviews for businesses UNLESS it is absolutely warranted. You can check my reviews to make sure. I take my reviews very seriously and write them exactly how my experience was. I know Google and Yelp can be abused by people, so I genuinely strive to NOT be one of those people who abuse the review game. So with my experience with her, this is why I am writing exactly it as I, as WE! ... experienced our time at your store. To top it off, the prices were..meh. I took into consideration tho that where we were and hello, it's NY. Things are just more expensive there. The prices were not even my concern tbh. It's just suggested on here we add info on prices. The ice cream is good enough. I come home often. I will always think before returning to this place. The ice cream is very tasty, that's what sucks haha! Like, if I'm on the lake and want ice cream...it's the only place. Not sure if this girl will always be there, but GOOD. LAWDY! Let's hope not because it's a very poor look on what is a good business and its location is brilliant. Right at the pier, next to a big ass hotel, next to a playground. Whoever decided this location has a bit of genius in them. However, they need to use that genius when hiring friendlier staff. Thanks, Yelperscoopers!!! Cheers!

Glen does the repairs they don't know how to do - serious stuff, as Jennifer said. Glen also sells whole bikes in addition to parts at whoppingly awesome prices. He and his wife (and their two dogs) are extremely friendly, and Glen is extremely helpful to his customers as they make decisions or ask for recommendations. Also, Glen barely marks up his stuff, so if you're willing to make the trip up to his house (the drive is gorgeous), his prices are worth it.
