Our first meal Puerto Plata. This was not our first choice as our other choices were closed as it was Sunday. So glad we decided to go this restaurant. First there were marked vegan options. Second the service was absolutely amazing. The staff knew what vegan meant and suggested dishes. And then the food. The vibe is so much like as if we sitting somewhere in Greece. The outdoor patio, the table, the settings the colour matched the cuisine - even the staff were dressed appropriately. This all set for a fine meal. The complimentary pita with tapenade was just amazing. The pita seemed fresh and the tapenade was properly seasoned and was perfect. I haven't had a restaurant spanakopita and vegan. They were made fresh-we could see they rolled the spanakopita right there in the open kitchen. Unfortunately only two per order. The Vegan Gyro - was again mind blowing. Simple ingredients and the pita- so fresh. When food is properly seasoned you don't need a lot of spice to make it taste awesome. The mushrooms so chewy textures and salad toppings inside very good. The sweet potato fries and salad very very limited in quantity. The Vegan Torre Mediterranean - was a dish that came out of a Michelin star restaurant. The plating , the taste, the eggplant cooked so delicately. The pesto and the hummus everything just was in perfect harmony. Even the tomato sauce was incredible. I dined here with a group of friends during Restaurant Week. The service was attentive, but the dining area is quite small and extremely loud when more than one table is talking. I've searched much of the world for a good authentic Greek meal outside of Greece and, frankly, they're quite rare. Found one here. The salad, the dolmathes, the souvlakia, the grilled vegetables, the baklava, and the coffee were all near perfect versions of the best ive had in Greece. The only deviation from tradition was the passionfruit reduction served alongside the baklava (which was an ideal walnut version with just the right amount of honey to give it sweetness without making it treacly. Opa is a charming venue, with tables both inside and out, a smaller spot but well done, and really gives you a nostalgic feeling of a trip to Greece. The food is very clean, high quality and overall very very good. We ordered the restaurant week tasting menu with a stuffed calamari appetizer (this was the only dish we didn't like, a little chewy and not much flavor), the falafel (fresh and flavorful), the lamb kebab (cooked just the way we asked, the lamb was very tender, the veggies were cooked thoughtfully and delicious, the rice was great too, as well as tzatziki) and the baklava (fantastic, crisp and not too sweet). Overall dinner was great, we would definitely come back for the lamb and baklava, and the beautiful atmosphere. All that being said the service is very good and friendly, and professional for sure. They definitely had at least 2 cooks and a chef in the back that got put to work once it started getting busy, and they seemed happy to be there and did a great job. We really wanted to like this really restaurant, but most items were just not very good. Our server was polite and helpful. The pita bread was more like flat bread and was the star if the show, fluffy, flavorful and warm. The free tapenade was delicious and not too salty. The babaganoush was a little bland, but okay. My husband's chicken gyro was large, but dry and the seasoning tasted more TexMex than Greek with just too much cumin. The avgolemono soup was very pretty, but very strange and not like any I've had in Greece. It was foam rather than soup, overly sour and I did not find any rice, just a bowl of strange tasting foam that we were unable to eat. It might be just a matter of taste. read more

We were in search for a good salad with feta and that is what we found. We also ordered the "rack of lamb" that would be more accurately described as 4 lamb lollipops or possibly a half of a rack of lamb--nonetheless tasted great. read more

Please read this one through, my first impression was one of frustration, I tried to go there twice and the fruit of success means you need to make a reservation. Also I recommend you request to not be seated by that awkward little table by the door.. Then they were out of Retsina.. at this point I was locked and loaded for a seriously unkind spicy review.. but I decided to wait calmly for that other table and forget about the retsina.. I'm soo glad I did.. I traveled in Greece and few times and consider myself a Greek food aficionado compared to most..so.. All the staff I spoke to are nice and all speak Spanish and English, the layout is a bustling open kitchen setting, loud and hot, tastefully Greek music in the background. The interior is stark white with little Greek touches everywhere, in a cute way. - To the food: First they brought us a small pita with the most perfect kalamata tapenade that I've had in years.. The Spanakopita was excellent, home cooked style, definitely not your run of the mill which made it special.. the Babaganoush is out of this world!!! - perfectly smoky and creamy. The main dishes were all very good and cooked exactly as requested.. Overall I'm loving the food and the initial flow of negativity is way gone as my eyeballs are rolling in the back of my head. I'm impressed. The owner came to say hi, was very kind and fun. Vallarta is truly becoming foodie-cosmopolitan, not in a big fat wedding way, this is legit. Make your reservation! We were sampling the various restaurants in this eclectic neighborhood and glad that we got to dine at OPA! The experience starts off in a fun way going up to the second story patio and then to be seated over-looking the street scape with lights and festive music. I love Greek food and it was as good as I've ever had and we enjoyed (surprisingly) and Mexican wine and this amazing sparkling water from the flanks of a (local?) volcano. Final nice touch was a visit from the owner - chef. read more

The blues, white and copper make me feel like I'm on an island in Greece. It's a great escape and I will definitely go back. I ordered the falafel; it was light, fluffy and crispy. Great Place. Super cute decor and an extensive Greek Menu. The food was really good. We tried at least 10 different dishes! All were lovely. The place does not have wine or beer yet but we brought our own and they were very accommodating. The owner and Chef is from Greece and the flavors were very authentic and preparation was spot on. The portions are smallish. Recommend the dolmas, really great!! The sauteed eggplant in a lovely tomato sauce. Everything is fresh and homemade. read more

Like a fresh breeze on Santorini OPA appears on Francia. The light blue furnishings and bright white walls introduces you to very good Greek fare. We sat at a white marble table. This is nice place with good service, however price is unreasonable high and portions are quite small.

Great culinary surprise in Puerto Vallarta. Food was very tasty and service was fantastic. Definitely recommend you try this.
