I went in there with my daughter to get a pedicure and they had different prices starting from $25-$65+ and I asked for the $25 pedicure but they said they could only give me the $55+ pedicure. I don't know why this place has 4 stars, they don't know how to do good nails. Went in for the powder dipped polish, bad experience, but I can't say the worst. The non-Asian male, who by the way smells like he needs a diaper changed, came from Bliss (horrible place) as they are affiliates started off good, at least I thought. He filed my real nails too deep, then he put 4-5 layers of polish on my nails, that isn't necessary, he could have stopped at two but since it was my first time I didn't know. Walked in only one lady was here doing nails, and she was moving like molasses, first red flag. My nails all have a different shape- square, oval, etc. They ran out of product in the middle of doing my nails then them cheap bastards just scrapped the bottle- throw that mess away. Then the filing is ridiculous, I didn't know the motive was to leave with no cuticles. Right hand looks better than the left. But after 2 hours of that garbage I should have two perfect hands! Only good thing about today's experience was the color. Also, is anyone aware, was it necessary to use an LED light for dipped nails? It already seemed set to me. read more

I was killing time in the area and badly needed a manicure, so I decided to give Opal Nails a shot. Pros: - Secure salon with buzzed entry and exit - Clean - Good selection of gel colors - 10-day guarantee for no-chip manicures - Friendly technicians - Inexpensive Cons: - About that 10-day guarantee, you will need it! My no-chip started chipping on day 3 or 4. I let it go at first because it was just a couple of nails, but by day 7 it was several nails on each hand. I went back in and got my polish fixed, but again, my nails were chipping after a few days. - Both times I went in only two technicians were working. Even if it's not busy, you may have to wait a bit. - Their services are very basic. If you're looking for dip powder or designs or even recommendations on shapes, this probably isn't your place. Opal will do if you're in a bind, but I don't plan to return. There are certainly better salons in the area. read more

This place is the fukin bomb!!! Customer Service is on point, it's clean and last but not least the talent is BEAUTIFUL! I used to travel a long distance just to go to their sister salon on 33rd/Halsted at Bliss. My dieHard loyalty to Ice brought me to Opal & now I come to find out that Opal nail salon is closer to me which is amazing. Ice does my nails PERFECT everytime! She gives me what I ask for and the prices are AFFORDABLE! I love this place!!!! They are definitely my "Go-To" salon and who doesn't love a loyalty card! read more

Sanitation is in question here.. 2 days after getting a pedicure my nail and the surrounding skin got very red and it looked infected. It was difficult for me to put pressure on my nail. Attention ladies who are looking for your "go to salon!" Your wait is over. While this is a brand spanking new salon, you would be well-advised to know this is the sister salon of the hopping Bliss Nails Salon on 33rd/Halsted, where I immediately became a loyal customer to Ice over a year ago, and I can't imagine getting my nails done by anyone else (I strayed once and learned my lesson). It's no wonder they've gone on to open a second salon. The owners are in the business of happy clients--that is the end goal. To top it off, this is in a great strip mall location with a parking lot. I am only reluctant to post this because I know my Ice will inevitably have a full book again before I know it, but she deserves it being that she's damn good at everything she does. I have no doubt this location will be just as successful, if not more so, than Bliss Nails. Ladies. If you value your nails and great service, you'll inevitably find yourself here again and again. I am very disappointed and will not be returning to Opal Nails. I have went 4 times in total (3 fill ins, 1 full set). I am not happy with how my nails last. They look good at first but after a couple days the top coat begins to discolor. Out of the 4 times I went my nails discolored 3 times. My first visit I got a fill in and chose dark red for my color. I had no issues but i'm not sure if I didn't notice discoloring because my color was so dark. Because I was happy with my first visit I decided to go for another fill in 2 weeks later. I chose a light blue color and they looked great but the next morning I noticed the tips began turning brownish yellow. By the next day they had turned a completely different color so I went in to show the lady and all she said was "How did this happen?" So I ended up having to pay to get my color changed to a medium pink color. That color darkened as well after a few days so the next time I got a fill in I went to a different salon and had no issues with discoloring. I went in to Opal Nails for a full set last week because it was getting late and this is the closest salon to me. My nails went from bright white to a cream tan color in 2 days. On top of that she overcharged me! A full set acrylic is advertised as $25 and as I was paying my reciept said $30. I got only one color with regular polish and no designs so I don't understand what the extra $5 charge was for. I will not be returning after this expierience. read more

There's a lady who works there and all she does is file your nails down to the nail bed, her nail application skills are sub par for someone who runs the entire salon by herself! I've been going here for 2 years! Never had a problem until now. I called 3 hours prior to make an appointment for a GEL FILL IN and a PEDI. The woman (there's only 2 of them that works there) says "okay WE will see you here at 3 pm" I get there at 2:45 and I told her that I made an appt for a fill in and a pedicure and she's looking at me confused and asked if I called. I told her yes that she made the appt for 3. Then she tells me that the guy that does my nails isn't there that if I can to to a different location where he is at that 25-30 minutes out of my way. I told her why would she tell me to make my appointment knowing he wasn't gonna be there. She kept trying to have me go to the other location saying that she didn't know it was going to be me and honestly I was so fed up I told her no and that I'm never going there again..if you're looking for a quick and nice service I recommend going to LUX NAIL! read more

Horrible! I went in as a first time costumer for a fill in and as the lady started scraping off the polish she was making my nail super thin to the point of causing me pain. A man came in and started filing my nails as well as adding gel to them, at first everything seemed nicely done but as time passed by my nails started looking thicker and thicker. Once he was done he handed me over to the lady so she could polish my nails. She did a horrible job of polishing my nails and added so many layers, after letting my nails dry she scraped the polish off of 4-6 nails and reapplied polish to them. My nails were so thick and the polish was horribly applied, my nails chipped two days later and completely came off by the end of day 10. Waste of money and TIME! I forgot to mention I was there for 3 HOURS, it took them 3 HOURS for two people to do my nails that didn't even last me two weeks. Horrible experience never going back there again. read more
