This was a great find for a neighborhood nail salon. The place was very clean and the nail tech I worked with did a great job. I got a no chip manicure and standard pedicure and was in and out in about an hour and a half. A week after, my nails are still holding up well. Prices were very reasonable, and I'm looking forward to going back for my next mani/pedi. I would recommend calling in advance for an appointment, even if it's day of. They have a steady stream of customers and not a huge waiting area. read more

Amazing!!! I wish I would had found this place sooner my gosh they are amazing. Costumer service is a 5, the place is super clean, the ladies that work are super nice and give tips for what's good for you. I've got my nails done there twice and both times they were amazing, they last long too. In my old nail shop I had to comeback every two weeks but here I go back to re do my nails every 3 weeks. Not only did I get my nails done there I also do my eyebrows and they never disappoint. What I love about this place is that they don't use those nail drills that damage and make your nails weak. I called on Friday January 15. I called and asked the girl who answered the phone if they cut kids hair because I have 2 boys, 10 & 5. She said, "I don't think so, let me ask". After 5 seconds she came back on the line and said "no". I wanted to explain that my oldest, the 10 year old, wanted to dye his hair blue and get a fade. I got out 3 words and she started talking over me to say, "ok thanks. Thanks. Goodbye" and hangs up on me. I called ahead about making an appointment same day and I will able to on November 22nd. It was for 12:30PM. When I arrived I was seated within 10 minutes After my appointment, which is amazing. But after my experience changed. Joann was the woman doing my nails, she greeted me and was at first a pleasant woman, but when after hearing about her speak about an individual saying I quote, "I hate that bitch," I am not fond a her. As a professional it's degrading for an establishment to be speaking about other individuals like that. Isn't the point of an establishment is to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty? Well Joann you failed at that. With Joann, yes she knew about the products and what I wanted as a, "CUSTOMER," but I have never been to an establishment, as a nail salon, where my nails have all fallen off within two days after my nail appointment. With me, this establishment is a fail. I will never go back to this place. I will never recommend this place. Really love this salon. My son and I both get our haircut here. The salon is clean and has a friendly vibe when you walk in. The staff works hard to help you achieve the look that you want and make sure you leave there happy!! I will say- my son never let anyone cut his hair with scissors (only clippers prior) and the staff eased his fears- so I also recommend for kids too. In addition to the haircut services, the nail tech staff is awesome. Seriously- the best mani and pedis in the neighborhood and they always work you in even last minute. I have referred friends for bridal parties and events- loved the services they received for bridal parties. I REALLY wanted to love this salon. When I walked in, I felt like I was inconveniencing the staff as they seemed very busy on Facebook and primping themselves. While waiting for my service I went to sit on the front couch and it was extremely dirty with hair, dust, and fish food all over it. (Tip: don't have a white couch in a salon!) As I went into the back room to get my eyebrows done, the employees were SCREAMING a conversation to eachother (not very relaxing). I go to lay down and there's gum on the recliner. To top it off, the guy that did my eyebrows was not gentle at all and kept shoving my head from side to side. Not worth it. Go somewhere else. read more

As I waited 15 minutes another women arrived claiming to have the same appointment time. one of the nail technicians went somewhere in the back to get Jimmy. Being that we both had an appointment with him. He asked who I was, I gave him my name and he said nope your appointment was for 2:00 not 3:00. Even though the other person arrived 15 minutes late didn't seem to matter. I explained that no way I would have booked an appointment for 2:00 when I don't get out of work until 2:30. Sent my girl here to get her nails done. The matte finish wasn't the best, then one of the nails came off after 5 days. We set up a filler appointment and had to wait 2 more days, then they forgot her appointment, so she wasn't able to be seen, and then 2 more nails popped off that day. She just took the rest off and we're going to find another salon. read more

I actually really like this place. I am so happy to see a more hip and trendy salon in the area. It's exactly what this neighborhood needs. I have only used their nail and waxing services but both are awesome. They give you a really nice massage when you are getting a pedicure, not a fast quick one. They also take their time and my nails are always perfect. I go to Joann to get my Brazilians and she is a waxing rock star. 10-15 minutes and she is done, and it doesn't even hurt as bad as some places I have been. Finally, there's a salon in Bridgeport that does a good job AND makes me feel at home. HYDRATE opened mere feet from my home so I had to give it a supporting-local-business go. I walked in and asked if they had any time. 45 minutes? [Sure. No worries I'll go finish watching the Price is Right.] Wait, let me check to be sure. . . Great, name? I'm so glad you came by! [Word.] It wasn't until after I left looking fabulous (and feeling beautiful) that I realized what was lacking in my previous hair home: comfort and respect. Turns out you can do a good job, be a complete professional and not be a pretentious ass; who'd thought? Gino is amazing. He made me feel great about my hair's natural wave. I felt like a quality client, not a hassle. He took his time and did a beautiful job. Growing out kinda culry hair is hard enough without someone hacking it off every time I try to get it trimmed and shaped. He understood what I wanted and set about doing it. He wasn't hurried. I didn't feel out of place, hurried or frumpy. When I requested more, shorter bangs Gino was my man even warning me when I was crossing the line to mullet-hipster-can't-see-shit territory. So while I haven't experienced the hair aspect yet. I am pretty faithful in my following of Joanne who does lashes, waxing, and nails. She does great work always makes sure you leave happy. The number of compliments from people is astounding. And these come from people in the industry such as make up artists and aestheticians. I admittedly travel halfway across the city to see her. When I seen that a salon, not just another place to get your hair cut, opened up on Morgan street. Thought this was great, bring some more business to the area. Went there, the salon itself is very nice. Very moderen, maybe to much for the area. Though I will not go back. The man who was cutting my hair, was to busy talking and gossing with his friends. To make the situation worse, it was all done in Spanish. I feel if your working on my hair, I should have your attention. The salon is not cheap and I feel like I deserve the attention. The women who owns the place, offered coffee for those of us who were waiting. Though as owner, she should of acted more like it. Again, its great to see new business in the neighborhood, but they need to work on service to keep it. If there was an option to give no stars I would. I came for a no chip and it was a disaster. The unwelcoming staff is always busy with themselves in the mirror and gossiping. Started my nail service with the nail tech not soaking my nails before trimming my cuticles, she just started cutting my cuticles away which made all my fingers bleed, this should've been a red flag. She then proceeded to put the polish on and it was all over my fingers. When I got home I had to peel away all the polish remnants on my skin. A few days pass by and the Polish started peeling off my nails!!! I truly wanted to like this place since it is so close to home but this type of service is unacceptable. read more

I went to Salon Hydrate for the second time 2 days ago. This visit was the first time I had my hair cut there. I bounce around from salon to salon mostly because I never found a place that I truly loved and I like to try new places. Well, this is it. I really loved the haircut and I can't remember the last time I left a salon and loved my hair. I will most definitely be back there for my next haircut. DO NOT go here for hair. This place does a good job at nails but AWFUL for hair. Do not go if your are looking for anything advanced to be done to your hair because the two people that do hair act so confident in their abilities yet they are really uneducated on what they are doing. For example, they messed up a simple cut on me one time, and also were unable to dye my hair all one color correctly. These are both things people can do at home so you would expect that these two hair "professionals" who act so "experienced" would be able to do the simplest hair requests. The whole salon is very unprofessional, which is fine if you are looking for a risky, casual and minimal hair experience. I made a huge mistake by giving this salon too many chances. read more

I had a gift certificate for Salon Hydrate that I needed to use. I had no problem scheduling an appointment for mani/pedi. Jennifer, the owner, has recently added a specialist for the mani/pedi. The salon is modern and clean. Yay! While I was there I decided to have a blowout. They were very accommodating and fit me in. It is a very friendly place, lots of people talking. Services were very good. My manicure lasted a week which is unusual for me. I would definitely recommend Hydrate. read more
