I can't get a regular pedicure because I am doing chemotherapy and I'm immunocompromised. I came in and the only thing they did that was kind as well as correct was just offer me a polish change. I wanted French but they said they couldn't do French unless the base was clear because they use nail polish remover to make the French design. That seems like inexperience to me. I've been to places where they do French over a pink base with regular polish but this is not the spot for that. So we pivoted because I didn't want gel polish. I said I'd go to the car and get the regular color I had on my fingernails. The woman started putting clear polish on my toes so I couldn't put on shoes and go get it. Since I was in a rush we just decided on a pink dnd color with funny bunny on top to make it more white. The joke was on me trying to be in and out. I showed up at 2 and didn't leave until 3:30. It should not have taken an hour and a half for a polish change. The original woman made the funny bunny coat on top too thick and lumpy. So I asked her if she could remove it and I could redo it. I repainted my big toe correctly and then another nail tech came and touched my toenail to see if it was dry and ended up smudging the polish. We had to take it off again. The nail tech that had messed up my nail repainted it but did the same mistake as the first tech. The polish is old and lumpy and unless you put it on thinly, it is going to be lumpy on the toe. So she removed it and said a other tech would try to paint it. When that nail tech finally did come over 20 minutes later, she was able to fix the issue because she found a bottle of funny bunny that wasn't dried out. But most importantly, she listened to what I had been saying from the start. My original nail tech never came back out. And I'm annoyed that I had done it correctly and then they messed it up. I would avoid this place unless you're getting gel. Even the last nail tech said it would have turned out better if I had gotten gel. They seem not to be able to do the basic regular polish well. Just do your own nails at home if you want regular polish. I know I will be. There was also a man on FaceTime on speakerphone in the shop and we were forced to hear his conversation for the entirety of his pedicure. They did not ask him to get off of speaker. It was really annoying and not a relaxing environment. read more

Katie did a great job on my nails. I got a regular manicure and regular pedicure for $60 and then I added 20% for tip. I was looking for a place in China Town to get my nails done and Yelp never steers me wrong. They do all types of nail services. There were two long time customers I chatted with. They were getting builder gel and the gel nails with chrome. Both sets were beautiful. I came right at 11a when they opened so the vibe was very chill. I would highly recommend this spot. read more

I hate to share my lil secret, because it's sooooo hard to find a decent nail shop in the area...check my previous reviews. This place, I absolutely love and I've been a patron for a few months now. It is on the second floor in the mini Mall in Chinatown and has been open for less than a year. It's really small so very easy to miss. I've lived in the area and frequents Chinatown often over the course of maybe 10years and the first nail place that I've ever seen in the area. Yan is my preference tech for my usual Volcano with CBD (mint or lavender) pedi and my no chip mani. She is soooo relaxing and throughout and thorough. The only guy who works there in which I cannot remember his name, is extremely personable, he remembers your name, your tech and your services. While I have only tried Yan for service, I should probably allow another tech a chance. I had my brows done by a tech that was the best!! I typically don't get my brows done as I tend to like them thick and more so "cleaned up"...she nailed it. I will say that this place is in a fortunate spot. Lots of tourists and people who want a quick service. They take an additional 5% off when you pay cash, but cards are always welcomed. read more

I have been coming here for a bit now and I enjoy my time when here. The ladies are nice - I like Katie for my sets if she's available. Only thing that takes the star away is that you have to pay for parking and if getting hands and nails the 2 hours usually is not enough. The space itself is clean and cute - decorated nicely. Many color options to pick from and they have my favorite service which is structured manicure. read more

Uwu is a no nonsense, fantastic salon. Their options are wonderful, the prices are reasonable, and the service is excellent. Katie is the best manicurist I've ever had. Her work is stunning, and as a man who works with his hands on the daily, I cannot understate how indestructible her work is. I got my nails done after 2-3 years at uWu Nails and I had a good experience for the most part! My nail tech was Emily and she did a great job at explaining things, reassuring me throughout the process and making sure I liked my nails as we go! The only thing was that towards the end, she rushed things a bit. Also, while filing my nails, the dust was getting everywhere which I didn't like esp with no mask on. Def would go back :) Got the No chip Acrylic $85 + $20 for polish. It ended up being $100 which I didn't mind paying. read more

I was looking for a place in Chicago that could do more complex, Asian style nail art and found Uwu Nails after some searching. The salon is conveniently located in Chinatown so I quickly made an appointment (also very easy to do as you can book directly from Instagram) to check it out. I brought with me a couple of nail art designs that served as inspiration for my own look. My nail tech (Ting Ting) was able to replicate the designs very well and was patient with me when I requested to add additional details here and there. The staff were nice and attentive and the salon itself was clean and cute (the salon is located upstairs in the Chinatown plaza area near Joy Yee's, look for the sign!). Overall, I had a great experience at Uwu Nails and I can't wait to come back to refresh my nails with new designs! read more

Safe to say that Ella at UWU nails delivered exactly what I asked for! she took the time to shape my nails exactly how I wanted and to make sure the chrome was what I envisioned. Did an amazing job! I wasn't sure what I wanted so I just requested a dip and showed them some art. I also exerted too much strength on a nail and it broke, so they fixed it for free within a week. The total came out to around $120 which is a great price range for the amount of art. read more

Got a gel removal and a no chip mani with black tips that turned out very nice. I showed my technician a photo of what I wanted and she was considerate, gave her suggestions, but respected my desires. I don't normally get my nails done so it was a nice treat and fun to try something I've seen online for a bit. Would recommend scheduling your service online on the weekends. Will likely try their pedi options next time. They also have a cute kid pedi chair! They have some waxing options as well but I forgot to take a photo of their menu of services with prices. Parking is mostly street unless you're lucky to find a free spot in Chinatown. read more

For 55$ for a no chip pedicure I got one of the most underwhelming experiences. As the guy mentioned it's an aesthetic place. My nails were cut to short, there was no cleaning around the nail bed or inside. I had mentioned I had an ingrown nail Which they said they couldn't take out and I respected it. Feet were not scrubbed well like really nothing except nail polish. Before I left the guy mentioned for 8$ I could have had my feet scrubbed. If you are someone in need of a deep clean i don't recommend but if you are just in for a quick wash and color change then it's for you. read more

Highly recommend UwU Nails! The salon did an amazing job on my manicure! The staff was super friendly and welcoming throughout the entire visit. The salon itself is clean, offers tons of colors to select from, and pet friendly. Prices are also very affordable and notable cheaper than salons up north. The tech was very attentive to details and took her time to ensure I was satisfied with the overall result. Above all, she was very thorough in the acrylic and dip powder applications so I can enjoy my nail longer. Cute little nail shop that opened up in Chinatown. Everything looked clean and they have a cute mural on the wall too. I got their combo which included a pedi and no-chip mani. I upgraded to their volcano pedi to treat myself, which was an excellent choice. It included a scrub, lotion massage, hot stones, and paraffin wax. My feet were super soft after. My nail tech was very accommodating to my OCD about the symmetry on the round shape nails. She adjusted until my liking. She cleaned up my cuticles pretty well too. Can't wait to come back for a self care day to pamper myself again. read more

The customer service here is excellent. The owner/manager greeted me by name and went out of her way to review the services and prices, offer me something to drink, and ask how my service was once completed. I got a pedicure and builder overlay w gel polish. Pedicure was great - did callus removal and my feet ended up being nice and smooth. The manicure was solid, but not great. I got nicked a few times on my cuticles and had to point it out to the nail tech so she could address it. I also came with a specific chrome design in mind and it wasn't what was ultimately executed. Nail shape was also megh - a little uneven. Not a huge deal overall, but because I've had better, it was enough for me to take off one star. In fairness, the customer service is great so if it was that big of a deal, I could've addressed it when asked if I was satisfied with my service. The manicure also lasted for three weeks with no chips, though the overlay started to lift on most nails. Location itself can be a little hard to find. If you're taking Uber or Lyft, I recommend getting off on S China Ave and walking through one of the bridge ways to get to the courtyard. Shop is on the second floor. Overall, I'd come back, but I wouldn't say this is my ultimate go to spot. read more

I was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. I got Gel-X extensions and a no-chip gel pedicure all done by the same technician- shout out to Katie for doing a terrific job! She was very patient and helpful when I was choosing my colors and nail length. She was also very detail-oriented, making sure my nails looked their best. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I've been in Chicago since January and I have come to UWU from day one. To start with, UWU is located in Chinatown on the second floor from the shops across from Walgreens. They're easy to find as they have a side hanging above the first floor. The interior is clean, cute and always organized. I am always greeted by name, and it genuinely makes me feel special coming here. Their nail techs are very talented and I have yet to leave unhappy with any of my manicures. They take their time, are receptive to your feedback and will let you know if what you're asking for is reasonable. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for a big city. I really appreciate they have an online booking system which makes it easy to schedule my appointments on my own, as well as reschedule and cancel if need be. They also offer a 7 day guarantee for nails and I think that's just great customer service. I definitely recommend them! read more

Brand new nail place in Chinatown. They have a mani pedi special for $65 ( gel mani and regular pedi) and their facility is minimalistic and clean. The staff are friendly and the person who did my nails, Wendy, did them with great care. The pedicure includes a basic scrub massage of the calves and they have other spa pedicure options for higher prices. Their polish collection is a tad limited on color choices but they use OPI which is personally a favorite brand and I'm sure they can continue to expand that in the future. Will definitely return for some more self care in the future! read more

I wish the tint showed up, maybe it needs to be on more than 1 second, although she did say if left on longer it would be too dark but I did not notice a difference. For the lash lift I am upset about this service. My lashes were pretty crooked/all over the place. The service also made a lot of my lashes fall out. I really wanted to love this. I am open to trying again, I've seen great results on other people. Maybe I just need to try a different technician.

Even when I called then I was asked if I wanted to mask up and come in and I little taken aback at the staff and management's willingness to risk safety. I was then told well do you want to move it to later and my response was, "I will still have the flu later." They charged me but said it would be credited at my next appointment and it was. Fast forward. I have a birthday trip coming up and I originally booked my appointment for Wednesday morning but then changed it to Tuesday evening at 8:30. My car fob died and my car is push to start. I called them immediately and said I could uber but it would get me there five minutes after the grace period. They said I was the last appointment of the day so they wouldn't allow even though they're open til 9 and I would have made it by 8:45. I ask if I can come at 9 as they had complete open avails for Wednesday from 9 to 3 PM.. I was told no. I would be charged for tonight and then again the next day. I say this is ridiculous as I am a regular, this is out of my control and you've had no appointments all night except for me. I did not cost the business money. You are supposed to stay open til 9 and I have offered two solutions. I am not going to pay 150 for a wax because i am being double charged. So, I book elsewhere. This morning at 9 AM, I get a call saying they will grant me a one time courtesy to walk in between 9:30 and 4:00 as they have lots of openings. I state that I said this yesterday and they told me that they are enforcing policy and that yesterday I was told I could not make another appointment and this is different as it is a walk in. I said it isn't given that there's no one on the books. The point is, I could've been accommodated. I told them I booked elsewhere and I wont be back. Marking me as a no-show when I called ahead to explain what was going on is honestly a little crazy to me. They are so callous and cold. The front desk can be very non-chalant and rude. Happy to receive my services elsewhere moving forward. Update - they have responded saying this has happened multiple times. It literally has not. It happened one time when I had the flu. I had a doc appointment the same day and wanted to be proactive. At the end of the day your staff and this response is absolutely why I will not be coming back to your awful customer service. So I guess we are both fortunate and blessed. Calling me to offer an appointment I could have gotten yesterday and not allowing me to arrive three to five minutes after the grace period for a situation beyond my control is nuts. You close at 9. I would have been done by then. This establishment never needs to worry about me. Terrible management. Terrible staff. My favorite waver left and I will be following her regardless. She said she hated working here and your waxers consistently complain about how you make them uncomfortable and that these rules are unnecessary as you all do not stay booked - ie - all time slots open today from 9 to 3. Your turn over is high and it will continue to be because the establishment is run by raggedy, unkind people.

My nails look great and they have these amazing hand dryers built into the counters that you use during your no chip manicure.. I highly recommend them and I will definitely be returning. The other nail salon I went to had a special on Mondays through Wednesdays. Polish Me Nails does not offer this discount but I would rather pay the regular price and get a higher quality gel manicure and pedicure.

I did my own inspection of my nails and they looked healthy and not damaged since that nail tech worked with good care." Also, while I was getting my nails soaked off, a customer from the previous day came back because she realized there was an inconsistency in some of her nails, so she asked to get it fixed. I told my technician, whose name eludes me, that I wanted to keep the length of my natural nails but just round the edges. The next thing I know, the nails are all filed down SO low that it started to burn and hurt when she was using the emory board. This has literally never happened before. To cover it up, she decided it would be great to paint over a part of burned/cut off skin with gel polish and cure it. I didn't find this out until I got back to my office and noticed the paint went over my skin in a literal open wound, hence the review. What was supposed to be a simple white paint no chip mani that should take less than 45 minutes turned into an amateur-at-best hour and a half long chop job. I'm super disappointed because I really wanted to love this place, but it's just a reminder of why I do my own manicures. ‍
