We placed an $11,000 order with Sarkis back in June and he promised our flooring would arrive in mid-July. It didn't arrive on time and he didn't keep us updated on the shipping status. We had to keep calling him and he'd just come up with vague excuses for the delay. Well, our flooring FINALLY arrived on September 25th (yes almost 2 1/2 months later than expected) and when the flatbed pulled up at our house, the entire load was toppled over and looked like it was going to fall off the truck at any moment. Then the driver backed his flatbed truck into our driveway and rammed into our rented construction fence, damaging it. I immediately pulled out my phone and started taking video and photos. The driver got out, completely ignored the fact that he hit the fence and started pulling the flooring off the truck. Because the stack tipped over, I could see that the ratchet straps were rubbing up against the corners of the wood slats. So I had to inspect every single piece on my own as I unloaded them. I emailed Sarkis immediately and told him that his driver damaged our fence and that we would be billed by Andy Gump for it. He couldn't have been more dismissive and took zero responsibility. He basically acted like I made the whole thing up. He also told me that his driver inspected all the pieces with me, so I couldn't come back later claiming anything on the order was damaged. His driver never inspected anything, so this was total b.s.! I asked Sarkis for his company's liability insurance carrier or his driver's insurance info numerous times and he refused to provide anything. Is it possible they're not insured? This could have been quickly and easily resolved, but shady Sarkis refused to cooperate in any way. I'll never use United Hardwood again. You've been warned. Check out the photos!

Unlike an actual indoor floor, the porch must be able to withstand large temperature variations, rain, dirt, etc. This required an installation that was tight and for the spar varnish be applied carefully and in numerous thin coats. This is an unusual flooring job and since the porch is a notable element of my 140 year-old house, I was nervous about it. I carefully interviewed a number of flooring installers (not all flooring contractors would take the job) and eventually chose Prime Custom Hardwood Floors. The bid I got from Prime was not the lowest but was well within the ballpark. I am glad I chose them. To my relief, the Prime work crew took my concerns seriously and were thorough, careful and meticulous. There were a number of tricky parts to this job and they were able to figure out solutions that worked well. They clearly knew what they were doing. David, the manager of my project, stayed in touch to make sure I was satisfied as the work proceeded. I am very happy with the result and continue to get compliments on the porch.

They helped moved all the furniture and re assemble all the beds. After 3 nights of sleeping in the living room, we were excited that the bedrooms are ready. I struggled with feeling like all my ideas were too wild for my budget, but they were able to discuss things with me in a practical way and explain what we could realistically do. They guided me through the process step by step, first starting with inspiration pictures and then collaborating with me on every decision like kitchen and bathroom layout, the lighting, structural considerations, plumbing changes, flooring options, appliances, the cabinets, the tile, colors, even the placement of the mirrors and knobs. They provided different options to consider within our price range and knew when to discuss potential issues that could come up, things I never would have thought of on my own. Coram found a balance between getting my input while also providing me with professional opinions on what they knew would/would not work. Very collaborative. They do everything in house, the architecture, interior design and contracting work which made communication about the project a breeze. I could trust the project manager to relay important information to me when needed. Now that we are living in our house I keep having moments of noticing details that they worked on that we really love, for example, they put automatic lights in the laundry closet and that's such a nice touch. The hood range they helped us select has an automatic sensor and we were so pleasantly surprised the first time it turned on while cooking. I think renovations can be so scary especially if there's a lot you don't understand. We had spoken to several other design teams before this and hiring Coram was the moment when the impossible task suddenly felt possible, they approach everything with a problem solving mindset and will take the time to explain things to you.
