This is a really unique and quaint coffee shop. The service was friendly and prompt, My iced Irish coffee was okay, but the lemon blueberry muffins were tasty. We have friends who normally work remotely from Open Door and they say it's typically quiet. Unfortunately for my wife and I, on the day we visited it was packed with a group of loud high school-aged girls who were very noisy chatting and clapping...I couldn't wait to get my coffee and get out. There were some adults in there who had their laptops open and I'm sure were trying to concentrate but I don't see how while we were there. Nice place. This is such a great little addition to Hudson. Forget Starbucks, this should be your go-to place to grab a cup of coffee and some conversation with a friend. Lots of street parking is available. If you like your coffee very dark, you may like this place. To us, it tasted burnt and ashy. The matcha is not of a good grade, but better than some we've had. We had a couple almond cloud cookies that had a nice chew, but were a bit too sweet and had too much almond flavoring added to it. Lived near this establishment for years and had never actually gone in until today. So glad I did!! The gal behind the counter issued a friendly greeting and asked what I had my eyes on. I said, medium hot coffee with coffee and almond milk. I took a sip straight away while it was hot, but not an overwhelming hot. I'm not too well versed in the light, medium and dark roast blends and she again was kind enough to steer me in what I was looking for with the medium blend. The flavor was excellent on the coffee. There was a good crowd of people inside, working and visiting with their respective parties. I definitely see myself going back and grabbing a cup. Maybe trying a smoothie or a tea. It was during the farmers market, so the line was out the door, but the staff was able to move through the line quickly. The barista at the front was very kind! In what appears to be an old bar or soda shop, this place is Pandora's box of eclectic wonder and old time charm. I am completely in love with the look inside. The decor is quirky and vintage...and creates such a warm and inviting atmosphere! I had the immense pleasure of trying their brewed dark roast. YASSSS! It was a nice roast with warm notes and a great finish. It was piping hot, so I was forced to take it nice and slow. Take it nicccceeee....and easayyy. I really enjoy a variety of coffee shops. I'm not a DD fan and do enjoy the occasional overpriced Starbucks. I love the variety of javas they have and when I go I feel like having a taste of them all but I'd probably walk out with eyes bulging out from all the caffeine. The Baristas are always friendly! I stopped by here this past Saturday for an afternoon pick me up with my wife. The inside of Open Door Coffee Company is bright with natural lighting and has seats in the front and then a "bar" in the back with seats that looks like it may have been from an old diner. They also had a display area next to the cash register where they sold things like scones and sweets. On this day I decided to skip my usual Americano and instead go with a pour over. Whenever I asked about the choices of coffee for it I was told about 4 or 5 different ones. I ultimately chose the French roast and then proceeded to sit down and wait for our order. In about 5 minutes my coffee was ready for me and was piping hot. Whenever it had cooled down a bit I was able to try it and was impressed by how rich and smooth it was. There was no bitterness at all and it seemed to be very well done. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. My coffee was good and I had my eye on some of the scones which I would like to try if given the opportunity. read more
