I came in on a weekend morning and as I expected, the place had a bit of a line as most good coffee houses should. The ambiance is nice with a variety of seating types and a large room. The coffee house has experienced baristas offering beautiful latte art and a variety of coffee selections. My challenges are the stocking of pastries and accompaying items wasn't the best, possibly when I happened to come in, with several things out of stock. Additionally, order management seemed a bit haphazard with my order getting lumped in with multiple others and not being produced in order of customers ordering. Bottom line, I think Heartwood is a good coffee shop overall, but doesn't have the stocking or efficiency of a coffee shop I would rate in top shops. I'm never in the area but a friend highly recommended this place when she heard I was coming to the area and she...was not wrong. The vibes are great. Decor means more towards minimalist but not cold. The fact that it has an upstairs is great, more tables to work from. The barista was great and made suggestions. In the end I ended up ordering a mocha (how I usually try to gage a coffee shop), a chocolate chip cookie and a pumpkin scones. Everything was delicious in equal measure and reasonably priced. Looking for an afternoon iced latte? Heartwood's maple latte delivered delicious flavor without any artificial aftertaste. Came on a busy Sunday around noon, and got our drinks very quickly (within 5 minutes)! The matcha spritz is very bright, and would highly recommend trying their lavender syrup. My experience with coffee and pastry has been near great. There problem is seating. My wife and stopped again this mid-week and mid-morning. There was no place to sit. Several tables for 4 were occupied by people who put their backpacks and computer bags on 2 chairs and sit in one and proceed to work on computers and phones. They sit there for hours. Heartwood coffee roasters had a cute vibe when you walk in. There are quite a few areas to sit and chill. It gives the older coffee shop vibes too. They sell their own coffee as well. I ordered a chocolate mocha and chocolate chip cookie. It was kinda pricey at $4.50-5 for each thing, but I guess that's the usual for coffee shops. They also have a rewards program if you go often, although I don't. The mocha was pretty average. The design on the drink and cup was cute! And the cookie was pretty chunky/not bad at all. It would be even better if it was warm and chunky. They had a wide variety of cookies as well. There are some season specials which I didn't try, but may be of interest to others. Service was pretty quick and I appreciate that this coffee joint doesn't blast music and lets you sit/focus on your work or conversation. I'm super picky about my coffee (how acidic, bitter, notes, etc) and I have tried almost all cafes around Cleveland and none of them compare to Heartwood - even beats Rising Star... The service is always so good and quick with super kind/welcoming employees, and the owner is always smiling! I absolutely adore the decor and vibe the cafe locations offer. It's the perfect place for a solo date, brunch/lunch, work spot, meeting, etc! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Heartwood and wish there was one closer to my city (Broadview Heights). I had the smoked maple latte and it was delicious and so unique. My friend got a gluten free banana bread and it was also very good. I came here, not really knowing what to expect. My friend had talked to me about this place, and listening to her I did kind of picture a family friendly place. Because really, ambience does a lot in seeing whether I enjoy a place or not, but the drinks have the final say. The baristas were friendly. One appreciates friendliness. My friend got a roasted maple latte, and I got a lavender London Fog and a honeybuzz latte. Now. For the test. Taste. Wow. Not too sweet, hardly at all. Espresso and then at the last, a hint of honey and cinnamon. Perfection. Then the london fog. Mellow, soft, almost melty. I do prefer a stronger Earl Grey flavor, so this one didn't score as many points, but if you're looking for a relaxing drink, this is it. I stopped by here this past Monday with my wife for our morning coffee. We were in the area for the day because we were hiking some of the trails in Cuyahoga National Park. So we headed on over to Heartwood Coffee Roasters. As we pulled into the parking lot my wife wasn't sure that they were open and I admitted that they looked closed. Thankfully there was a guy sitting outside with a coffee cup which let us know they were open. Upon getting inside, we were the only people there and there were two employees. They ended up being super nice and both talked to us while our coffees were being made. After telling them that we were hiking for the day they ultimately recommended Buttermilk Falls which we decided to give a try and were happy that they recommended it! In any case, for our coffees on this morning both my wife and I ordered their pumpkin spice latte. Most of the time this is a hit or miss drink for me as some places can make it cloyingly sweet. Thankfully at Heartwood coffee roasters that wasn't the case and it was actually the best pumpkin spice latte I have had in a while! It didn't taste fake at all and I would be willing to bet they added actual pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices to the milk in order to make it taste good. There was also a bit of sweetness to it, but not too much which made it really drinkable. All too soon after I had received my coffee, it was gone and I was sad about it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed not only talking to the employees but our coffees as well. read more
