After going there for months, I asked if we could choose our own dentist out of their "doctors" and they told me yes. They have like 5-6 dentists working out of there and I chose one that was recommended to us from a friend going there. My next visit there they tried to substitute a different dentist. I declined feeling they should have at least called me the morning of the appointment to tell my "my dentist" couldn't come in that morning. They don't want you to choose a dentist, they want to control you and have you accept their choice of a dentist or hygienist for that appointment that day. I noticed that they also have lots of hygienists and you seldom get the same one. Seemed like there was also lots of sickness in there every visit too, always lots of hacking and coughing going on by patients and workers. Billing was always confusing, prices usually misquoted and costing more than we were told it'd be too. I never saw any professional medical office with such controlling demands of their patients. Stay clear of that place. read more

The care here is set to a higher standard than most dentists I've been too, the dental care offered here is phenomenal. My first time experience convinced me that this is the right place for my family and I for all our dental work. We brought our 9 year old daughter here to be seen but only after the awesome receptionist made it possible by rearranging other appointments to accommodate us. I'm from out of state helping my mom after open heart surgery. I've never had teeth issues before and ended up with a broken molar. I called and they got me in same day and they were able to get my tooth more comfortable until I can be seen to fix it. Everyone was nice, professional and seemed knowledgeable . The dr was very gentle and kind and made me feel very comfortable. First impressions are so important. I've got a lot of stress right now which most of us do, but it was a great experience to be treated with kindness considering the circumstances. I'll be back soon for treatment and I can't say I'm really looking forward to it but atleast I feel I'll be in good hands. read more

Yea the dentist broke off not one, but two files in my tooth after drilling for over an hour on one root canal. Then he abruptly stood up and left the room. The admin staff then ushered me out of the room and recommended a specialist in Medford with a wait of over 2 weeks. So here I am with a hole in my tooth and two files lodged in it right next to the nerve. The numbing agent wears off and it's excruciating pain. I do some research and find a specialist right in GP who will see me ASAP. I go in and tell them what happened and they said they deal with this regularly from Open Door. REGULARLY. I call up Open Door to give them a chance to make it right by helping with the $2,400.00 bill for the specialist and the dentist who gets back to me was just silly. Total damage control and not recognizing the dentist they had screwed up twice on one tooth before he noticed he screwed up and walked away. I started with them, because a friend of mine needed emergency dental before he had heart surgery. They got him in, got the deed done and took super good care of him. I was so impressed that I took myself back and I really don't like going to the dentist. I avoid it at almost all cost. I had broken a tooth and had tried somewhere else where they took me in, did a complete work up and gave me a bill for $15,000 to cap all my front teeth on top. When I left I still had a broken tooth. So after our experience with Open Door Family Dentistry, I went to them. They fixed me right up. No muss, no fuss just friendly people, efficient dentists, and really good care. I went again today and they rebuilt all of those teeth that the other dentist wanted to replace. It cost me a little over $800 instead of 15,000 and I look great. Open Door Family Dentistry listened to me and what my lifestyle is like. I am not interested in spending $15,000 and going through all the misery of replacing 8 teeth to improve my smile at 68 years old. So Open Door Family Dentistry took care of me and did what I needed, made me look much better all in one trip- painlessly. Pretty shady establishment. Paid $2300 out of pocket $4k total with double coverage in 2023 for a very poorly done crown and 3 fillings that still hurt to this very day. I proceeded to set up an appointment for another crown and 2 fillings with double coverage and was given a $1600 out of pocket estimate. I called in later that month to confirm and ask why they were more than a couple other reputable dental offices in town, my estimate went up to $1900 out of pocket at that time and was told that I could always go look around. Long story short, I found a wonderful dentist at a very good dental office off Union Avenue. I paid less than $150 out of pocket with double coverage for the same quoted work from Open Door. Not only was the out of pocket cost roughly $1600-$1800 cheaper, the crown and work was flawless. Zero pain in my teeth, they didn't drill out most of my teeth for more money, the crown fits perfect (not exaggerating) and the dentist is a wonderful lady. Be careful with sharky, second rate dental establishments! read more

I went there to have an exam and they provided me a list of procedures and a "treatment plan." After agreeing to a partial plan I returned to have a filling replaced. It turns out it didn't need to be replaced, they overcharged me (based on the insurance report I received after) for the filling and then stopped carrying my insurance, apparantly because the reimbursement rate isn't high enough. Bottom line is these guys are deceitful and NOT customer focused. It is a money first practice. AVOID unless you want to get overcharged. read more

I don't love the dentist...but the moment I walked in to this office, I felt way calmer than I usually do. Ladies up front were friendly. I was greeted right away and, even though I came in with a bunch of questions, they were patient with me. My cleaning was gentle and the hygienist and the assistant were very kind. Money, money, money. They wanted to pull 5 of my husbands teeth. He was sent to a specialist and $300.00 later, the specialist said NONE of the teeth they wanted to pull needed to be extracted. The next time he went to Open door they asked him to make an appointment to extract his teeth. My husband said no. He has been going to this dental office since it was owned by Dr. Hendy. After Dr. Hendy retired and sold his practice, the care has gone down the toilet. My husband only wanted to get his teeth cleaned there by an awesome hygienist. Since they don't make a crap load of money extracting his teeth and getting implants they basically told him to leave (not even cleaning his teeth). They do not care about preserving teeth, they do care about making money. Horrible place, except Becky!!! They wanted to over charge for a dental plan I didn't need. I was having surgery and needed a dentist to clean my teeth prior to surgery. They presented me with two options one for $11,000 and another for $12,500. Something did t feel right so I went to two other dentist and found one that did everything I needed for under $300. My insurance company allowed me to go to either dentist's to get a second opinion. I am so glad I did as I got a wisdom tooth pulled that was a problem and another filling on another tooth. Big difference in charges at this place. It was like some type of game that I couldn't understand as it wasn't fair and confusing. I was stuck between a rock and a hard spot because I had to have a dentist sign off so I can get my surgery on the other hand. I had a feeling that something wasn't right. I am so glad I tried a couple other dentist and found one that had beautiful, clean facilities, nice folks to help you and explain things, and most of all do what's needed and charge a fair price for it. I have seen the dentist game before and that can be frustrating. However, persistence and getting second or third opinions is totally worth it so you don't get some tooth polled or something down you don't need along with the associated high charges. This office doesn't set aside anytime for emergencies. My wife had a crown fail and wanted an implant. It was a front tooth. We were told an implant would take 6 mos. So they suggested a bridge. We had to pay up front. She was prepped for bridge which meant a tooth on each side was removed and so three teeth in front missing. They put in a temp bridge which was loose. Took two days to get in to check and they said it was fine. It finally came out. We decided to go in so we wouldn't be put off for days again. It took the threat of legal action to get them to help. read more
