Popped over here Friday night after realizing Morla was reservation only and no flip flops. :) they were able to seat us immediately and the little touches made this such a great experience: fresh warm bread and little caprese on a skewer, the owner knew all of the people eating there and warmly welcomed us as though we had been there before. After finding Flanigan's sold out of their St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage special as early as 5:30 PM, we scrambled to find another option. A quick Google search led us to Open Kitchen, where a phone call confirmed they still had the dish available for $21. Relieved, we headed over, expecting a hassle-free meal. Unfortunately, the hassle began as soon as we sat down. When we ordered, the hostess--who was also the manager--immediately asked if we were the ones who had called. After confirming, she informed us there had been a mistake: the actual price was $26, not $21. No apology, no attempt to honor the price quoted over the phone--just a blunt "take it or leave it" attitude. Worse, the only other options on the menu were over $30, aside from a basic salad. At that point, I wanted to leave, but my friend insisted we stay--after all, what if every other place was sold out too? Reluctantly, I stayed and initially planned to just have water. Ultimately, to avoid making a scene, I ordered as well. Adding insult to injury, the meal itself was utterly mediocre. The corned beef and cabbage lacked any real flavor, and considering Open Kitchen isn't an Irish restaurant, that shouldn't have been a surprise. The worst part? No printed menu, no signage, no proof of the supposed "mistake." Just verbal pricing that conveniently changed the moment we arrived. Had we known upfront that the special was actually $26, we likely would have kept looking instead of wasting our evening at a place that clearly doesn't value honesty or customer satisfaction. A restaurant that refuses to stand by its word and brushes off its own errors as the customer's problem is not a place worth supporting. I've been eating at Open Kitchen for 10 years and it's consistently excellent food and service. The location is small and intimate, which makes it a charming and relaxing place to have breakfast lunch or dinner. It recently opened seven days a week. The food leans gourmet so you'll have staples on the menu as well as unique dishes you may never have anywhere else. Reservations are helpful on weekend nights, but we've gone some night and never waited more than 15 or 20 minutes. I recommend the lamb chops for dinner which are tops in Miami in my view. I came to Open Kitchen with my coworkers last week for lunch, we were thinking of a place with good food and good prices. We sit outside and our server came right away. It's my second time here, and the second time the same server takes care of our table. I'm not sure if she is the only server but she is so nice, I believe she is from Chile. She brought us some bread, which bread here is delicious! And their house olive oil with infused rosmary which is amazing! Everybody was craving different things so one of my friends got the special which was a Steak Chaufa Rice. I believe the chef is Peruvian or something because they have some Peruvian dishes or ingredients on their menu. The chaufa looked amazing! And portions here are big! My other friend ordered the Salmon Wrap and she loved how they cooked the salmon, it was glistening! She added the roasted potatoes as a side, sadly they don't have any French fries! But the potatoes were good and healthy. My other friend ordered the Poke Bowl and really enjoyed it. She doesn't eat much but devoured the bowl of how good it was! For me, I wanted one of the pasta. So I wanted the creamy sauce from the Orecchiette with the tagliatelle pasta from the Pomodoro and they were so nice to do the change for me! It was delicious!!!! It was a lot of pasta and I ate it all! So creamy, delicious pasta, so so good! Everything was delicious. The only thing why I can't give it 5 stars is for the fact that trash cans were close to the table, not right next to us but next to the other table next to us, and then the trash and there were too many flies. They need to find a solution to this problem because the place is great to eat outside but the flies are an issue and unsanitary. Last time I was there, they had more tables outside but now that the new mister 01 will be opened, they had to reduce the space. read more

Had the best lunch at Open Kitchen in Bay Harbor. I was looking for something healthy and was so happy with my Salmon, Mango and Quinoa salad which was incredibly fresh, light and delicious. The servers are very friendly, and want to know you and make you a regular. And once you have their fresh lemonade, you want to become one. This is a tucked-away jewel! The food is outstanding and I'm not exaggerating! We ate here the day we signed our lease to move to the island and not only was the food great, but the staff and the owner were very friendly! After a few visits, my opinion has drastically changed. One night, I ordered from their Thursday night dinner menu. I ordered beef short ribs. I had to throw them out because they were inedible. Today, I was without a car so I walked over to pick up lunch. They had a beef stew special. It consisted of minuscule cubes of beef with frozen green beans and a large serving of white rice. My husband gets lunch from here regularly and we come for dinner on Thursdays. I have never had anything here that was not perfect. The crispy spinach appetizer is to die for. Ditto the rice balls with fontina inside that I had last time (they were like arancini but had a different name). Last time I also had the mussels and was blown away. I drank the sauce with a spoon it was so good. Hubby had a steak he said was outstanding. The food here is always fresh, beautifully prepared and plated. Yesterday was our first time eating at Open Kitchen. My friend and I decided to have a late lunch there. The restaurant is very small. Menus and utensils are on the tables and the daily specials are listed on a large chalk board which is hanging on the wall. The people who work there are super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the daily special pasta which was orecchiette with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, My friend had the roasted chicken with sweet potatoes. My dish looked great but the pasta was undercooked. I would have been happy with al dente, but not crunchy. I told our server who took it back. A short time later she returned with a new plate. The food was good. The orecchiette had a nice sauce. My friend enjoyed his chicken and sweet potatoes. He said the chicken was cooked perfectly but he felt the serving should have been larger. I ordered a Bruschetta with avocado. While eating the bruschetta it had a very strong taste that made me even tear up, it was probably the vinegar. After eating it my teeth were hurting and my tongue was burning. Once I got home my mother realized I smelled really bad because of the vinegar. A day later I still smell like vinegar even though i brushed my teeth had coffee and had other meals. Also, my tongue still feels like burning.
