While this lake park has a great many features and uses, my primary activity here is running the…read moredirt trails that snake their way through the caliche hills and desert brush. These trails were built over time by and for mountain bikers but that also makes them great for running. As they are about the only true nature trail with some topography in Lubbock, I don't have much choice when I want to get off of pavement. That said, the many miles available offer a unique and fun environment for my runs (and perhaps one day mountain bike rides). The lake itself is quite large, yet it is only one lake in the interconnected chain of lakes through the east side of Lubbock. In warmer months, tons of people come here to fish or enjoy some paddling on the lake. There's a regular group of weekend paddle boarders meeting here in the mornings. Of course, there are also the running and mountain biking groups too, hitting the trails before the heat of the day kicks in. And if you aren't much of a trail runner or walker, there is paved road completely surrounding the lake offering a lot of mileage. They just built a new bathroom facility beside the main parking lot - much needed. And if you want to see a large colony of plump prairie dogs, you can watch them to your heart's content here.

Went to this panic room the other night. It was my first time doing a panic room. The place was…read morenice and overall had a fun experience but the room had some defects. Magnets weren't strong enough to reveal hidden keys and it took some time away from our clock. Keys opened up more than one lock which confused us and we were asked by the employee on how we were able to get certain items ahead of time, Which led to more confusion and wasted more of our time thinking we did something right when we were focusing on the wrong things. It kinda ruined the experience at the end of the day but this place seems fun if everything worked properly.

Patterson Park is the "Central Park" of Wolfforth. Located right off US82, it's easy access as you…read morecome into town. The largest parking area is accessible off of the frontage road beside the pond. There is a gravel road that wraps around the outside of the park connecting through multiple separate parking areas, eventually arriving at the community center. The pond water level is quite low these days. It's for fishing only, though I can't imagine wanting to do anything but look at it and listen to the circulation fountain - it's kinda gross and smelly. Nearby is a playground for the kids with monkey bars, swing set, slide, and jungle gym. Several covered picnic tables fill the area near the pond. These are probably great in the summer for keeping you out of the sun. The park is dotted with pecan, pine, and oak trees. Great, welcome respite from the flat monotony of West Texas. The back corner has a football field with field goals which can also be used for soccer. The primary remaining space contains five baseball fields, four of which join at the center around a two storey announcers' building. Between all of this is a covered stage/performance area, albeit without permanent seating in place in front. There's a single basketball hoop on a concrete pad, but not a second one or a full court. Right beside the stage is a small community center building. There's the remains of what was once a volleyball court, though I can hardly call it that in the current condition. A walking path on dirt, gravel, and grass traces the circumference around the park. This would make for a decent place to run, which appeals most to me. My original photos are from December 2022. At the time, the park is relatively empty due to the cold, windy winter and a only really a haven for the migrating Canada goose flocks. There are usually decent crowds of people using the baseball fields here in summer. There is a general feeling of abandonment and disrepair, though. I chock this up mostly to the harshness of our climate, but definitely see room for improvements where the city of Wolfforth could invest some time and money to improve things at their one and only park.

This is a decent conveniently located park just off the highway across from a busy…read morecommercial/retail area. It's probably the biggest park on this side of town. For my own uses it's acceptable. There's a fairly well worn two track in the dirt that goes around almost the entire circumference of the large central lake. This makes for good pseudo trail running. It seems popular for fishing, but I can't imagine it's hospitable to life. Birds occasionally gather here, but I see them more often at other lake parks like Patterson and Dunbar. There's no real water circulation here. It's basically a playa lake turned holding pond for rain runoff. Probably the most popular feature is the very modern and clean four-field youth baseball complex. Once you work your way over the pitted asphalt at the entrance, there's plenty of parking by the fields. A very basic park here otherwise with only a few uses but the best "trails" on this side of town.

While not technically a dog park, Tech Terrace Park is about the best place for dogs in the city…read more For reasons I'm unsure of, the park has a drastic dip and bowl effect in the center. This topography with the boundary of large shade trees and a large open area makes this the perfect spot to play with the pup. You can rarely drive by without seeing a lab or two playing with each other or chasing down a frisbee. Plentiful parking and its central location makes this my choice when letting the dogs run and be crazy
