My mom has been going here for years, unfortunately. She recently told me that every time she had to update her prescription, they told her she could not just replace the lenses in the frames she had and that she had to buy all new frames every time because "it doesn't work that way" I told her that shouldn't be the case, and sure enough this last time after she updated her prescription and was told the same thing, she went elsewhere and had the lenses replaced in her old frames without any issue. My mom is extremely low income and is struggling to take care of her husband who has Alzheimers while making ends meet, so getting ripped off like this has an immense impact on her life. The people that gave me a vision test were very nice and that's the only reason why I'm giving two stars. But I DON'T recommend coming here to buy glasses. Very overpriced and the customer service was minimum. Paid $166 for my first pair of glasses and they don't even give out lens cloths? Like where is all this money going towards?? I should've gone elsewhere. They really have the audacity to charge money for a small azz cleaning lens spray bottle. How y'all sell the spray but nothing to wipe it with? Also I asked Jerrel to adjust the glasses to become more fitting to my face and he gave them back crooked. First and LAST time going. Over this place. read more

Partner and I got glasses here. They have their own lab. Disaster. My partners had to be done twice- wrong prescription first time. Mine had to be redone also due to bad coating on the lenses. After 6 months the coating was a mess. No help resolving the issue because they said the problem was scratches. I went to three other places which all confirmed that they were NOT scratched, but had a coating problem. They do not stand behind their product. In general, it's not a good place. Dr is not very nice either. They also don't like giving your prescription to you. They are required by Federal Law to provide you with your prescription. read more

It's a shame. This place is no longer like it used to be 15 years ago... I paid over a thousand dollars for both regular eye glasses and sunglasses - (2 pairs of glasses) - one of them, I brought my own frames in. They didn't even put the "transitions" coating (to make them dark when you go outside) on my regular glasses. And my color mirror coating for my sunglasses was like a light blue, not purple-blue like I wanted. The guy says the woman will not say yes to fix my sunglasses... I paid money to have these done correctly. They should do their job. If not, I will have to file a complaint with the better business bureau. read more

Worst customer service ever! My son had an eye appointment and we were new to the office. We walked into the "showroom" and two employees looked at us but did not greet us. We stood around the desk area waiting for someone to direct us or check us in. Nothing! Finally we saw another room which said office and hearing aids. We walked in and the lady behind the glass checked us in. I was trying retrieve a fax number to have my sons prescription sent over. Although I had it written down, I understood that they needed it directly from his prior eye doctor. As I was on hold with his old office, she asked me numerous times if I wanted to reschedule. I kindly said no and that he needed to be seen as he was on his last pair of contacts and we had just found out that our old doctor does not accept our new ins. Finally asking if my information was correct, she threw a clipboard at me and told me to fill it out quickly. I looked at her and asked "are we your last appointment for the evening?" She said yes. I realized she just wanted to leave and not deal with us. I ended up walking out. I refuse to have my sons appt. rushed because she didn't want to deal with the work that needed to be done to check us in. It's really sad that you just do not see good work ethic any longer! I hate to give a bad review (maybe she was having a bad day) but we were overlooked by multiple employees and deserve to feel welcomed and as though you would take your time with a someone's exam. I was in here a few months ago to see what glasses my insurance covers. I walk in and am immediately ignored. NO ONE asked me if I needed help. There was a girl sitting at the counter doing paperwork and she finally yelled for someone in the back to help me. So another lady came out and decided to again ignore me and help the man that just walked in behind me. Very nice. At this point I was pissed. I said to the paperwork girl "well apparently no one wants to help me" and she said something to the other lady about her asking her to help me and she didn't. Whatever. She told me what glasses were covered but I ended up leaving without getting anything. Very much lacking in professionalism. Seriously where is the manager? I probably won't go back. read more

My family and I have been a customer for over 20 years and recently had issue with my lens anti-glare coating. I was encouraged by sales person to get the anti-glare coating since i am behind a computer screen most of the day. Well, i regret that i added the anti-glare coating as i have been having problems with the lens geting blurred. I am extremely disappointed that Monroe Optical management They don't value their long standing customers and do not stand behind the product they sell. I walked in with some trepidation after reading the reviews in yelp- I only went because a friend recommended them... IM SO GLAD I DID! My husband and I were greeted immediately by Maria who listened to what we needed/wanted. She was knowledgeable about our insurance coverage and recommended other savings as well. She was extremely respectful of cost. She spent close to two hours helping pick out frames - and was quite patient when I kept vacillating ! BTW- the store was not empty and other customers were greeted by other associates in the same pleasant manner. We will pick our glasses next week-another plus they have their own lab! 4 months ago I bought a pair of glasses at Monroe Optical let me preface this by saying I have been coming here for at least 10 years and probably more. For the very beginning these glasses were breaking the lens kept popping out the nose piece popped off. I brought them back five times and finally got tired of having to have them fixed and I demanded to have a new pair. I originally paid $69 for these glasses and I was told by the very snippy assistant manager Danielle. That it will cost me more than $100 to get them replaced that seemed actually ridiculous considering the fact that they were defective from the very beginning. I got my prescription back with your from Janelle cuz I no longer want to have business with this place and this assistant manager she is absolutely miserable. she has a sour face and a bad way of talking to customers she, she said my glasses were messed up or sure when you have to keep using your teeth to pop and back in because that's the only way they'll go back in. The arm piece fell off my nose thing broke and the glass keep popping out I think I deserved a new pair glasses. I will never do business with them again I haven't told by several friends that they have been treated poorly there by Danielle. The owner of Monroe Optical need to take this girl in hand and be there to run his business properly. You do not treat long-term customers badly. I have never had to ask for a new pair of glasses without paying for them when I know that I've had two when I did something to make them unwearable. But in this case I bought them and they had been wrong and badly constructed from the very get-go so I needed a pair and I was not going to pay for them. read more

snow covered parking area unplowed and unshoveled. no signage for fire zone ,with handicap vehicle asked to move my car around twice in the parking area . As it was in an imaginary fire zone disguised as store front parking.Two low level employees bossy and ridiculously breaking chops . snow squalls and 10 degrees out at 10:00 AM. no cars in the lot These small minds with power wield there almighty rules . stay away!!! do not stand up to any guarantee!! when you go for an adjustment make sure they document it.. my glasses were not cut properly and i went back twice for adjustments - their customer service attitude changes when you go back and when you try to retrieve on their guarentee they do not have any records of your complaint!!! your word against theirs.. i spent almost $800.00 on standard lenses with upgrades. they were cut wrong by their lens crafters (comfirmned by my doctor and the new eye care facility i went to) they refundedy zero and i am out their cost and an additional $400 for new lenses. buyer beware!!! read more
